Valerie was shocked. Her first wolf, Helga, had only spoken to her after her first shift, not appearing in a mirror.

Most of her kind would hear the voice of their wolf before a shift, but seeing and hearing her wolf through a mirror was strange.

“My wolf? Why are you appearing to me in a mirror? Are you not supposed to take over?”

Valerie did not have a good feeling about this, and Astrid tried to clear her worries with a good explanation.

“I can’t take over yet. My powers cannot be harvested until the moon is full. That is the only time I can take control.”

This was a gray wolf. “You don’t look like a Luna wolf, and why did you not recognize Denzel as our mate?” Valerie asked, looking puzzled.

Astrid was patient. For as long as Valerie had the time, she was going to explain everything vividly.

“I am better, stronger, and more powerful than a Luna wolf. Guess what kind of wolf I am?” She asked, trying to sound friendly upon seeing the fear in Valerie’s eyes, but the latter was still cynical about the whole thing.

“I don’t know.” She was supposed to be excited, but judging from experience, she knew there was something off.

Astrid was disappointed but explained directly. “I’m an Alpha wolf.”

Valerie stiffened, knowing that female Alpha wolves had their disadvantages as well. It was also just as rare as a Luna wolf but stronger and more powerful.

She was not ready to face any more tragedies. “Where is Helga? I just like my Luna wolf.”

Astrid knew that she had a lot of explaining to do as Valerie had already accepted being human and not getting her wolf back.

If not for Alpha Denzel, she would not have been assigned. “It was a battle in the ethereal realm. Helga died in your world and can never return. She belongs to the ethereal realm now, and you have been rejected twice.”

Somehow, Valerie had gotten over the rejection part and was no longer pained by it as before. It was amazing how Alpha Denzel’s love had slowly washed away her pain.

Valerie could only imagine which conditions Alpha Denzel met to get her an Alpha wolf but was even more surprised that he had gone to that length.

No wonder he had the confidence that she was going to get her wolf back. Astrid’s conditions almost caused her to lose her mind.

“Should you kill Alpha Denzel, you could take over the pack and rule it without being mated to anyone. Valerie, you don’t need a man anymore.”

Valerie’s face was red with anger. Getting a new wolf was supposed to be exciting, but the conditions attached were just ridiculous.

“That is rubbish. I love Denzel. I would never take his pack from him or even think of killing him.” It was slowly dawning on her that the ethereal realm was seeing Alpha Denzel as a threat for wanting to get rid of him.

“Alpha Denzel is becoming too powerful. He doesn’t obey the rules and has become a headache to the moon goddess,” Astrid explained.

Valerie accepted all the descriptions that they were true, but one thing remained.

“He is a good person. If you are really as powerful as you are, you would know that he has the softest heart there is.”

When Astrid accepted the mission, she never thought Valerie would be this stubborn. Being hurt a lot, she should have been happy to be the Alpha of the biggest pack to take revenge on the menfolk, but no.

It seemed that allowing her to fall in love the human way made her emotions stronger. That condition should have been impossible for their kind, but Alpha Denzel somehow managed to heal and win back the heart he once destroyed by his rejection.
