Chapter 226: Chapter 226 – Special Moments
Alpha Denzel rushed upstairs to the Luna’s chamber and locked himself in. If he used his room, Valerie could come up with an excuse to listen in on the conversation.
The call was from the investigator he hired to search for Valerie’s father and Ashley as a surprise for her.
“Tell me you found them,” Alpha Denzel spoke after answering the call in the safety of the Luna’s chamber. The person at the end of the line was hesitant, not having the details Alpha Denzel wanted.
“We tried, but I don’t think either of them is alive.”
Alpha Denzel’s expression changed, the warmth in his voice disappeared. A while ago, he had a taste of peace and tranquility.
Still, he knew that Valerie would not be complete without uniting with her father and elder sister.
“How can Ashley not be alive? She was recently at the Yellow Stone Pack, and she told Scarlet their father was alive.”
He would never accept this report. If those two were indeed dead, Alpha Denzel would not pay a huge amount of money for this.
The information was clear during Ashley’s attack on Scarlet. Their father was alive, and even if he was dead, then the investigator should have at least found or given a hint about Ashley. This report was inaccurate.
“Alpha, please, why don’t you allow us to ask Luna Valerie some questions? It can give us some clues,” the investigator pleaded, unknowingly triggering Alpha Denzel’s anger. He asked coldly.
“What do you think is the reason I tasked you to do it?” He could have done it himself. Yes, he was good at it, but he did not want to leave Valerie for even a second, and neither did he want her to have any clues about what he was doing.
“This is the surprise I’m planning for her, so don’t you dare mess it up for me.”
“But…” the investigator was about to say but was quickly cut off.
“No buts. If you need more money, then say it, but her father and sister must both be found before her Luna coronation. If you don’t find them, I will take back my deposit, but if you do, I will triple it.”
The investigator began to sweat. That money was almost gone, so where would he find it? And did he hear Alpha Denzel promising to triple the money if the people involved were found?

He forgot to end the call and turned to his comrades. “Hey, the Alpha said to triple the money if we find them but take his deposit if we don’t. Let’s begin the search all over again.”
Alpha Denzel ended the call instantly and opened the door to meet Valerie’s angry glare. She had chased after him, standing by the door but did not hear anything.
“Since when did you start hiding to make calls?” Her expression was stern, but Alpha Denzel smiled and stroked her hair; she pushed his hand away.
Valerie did not suspect him of cheating on her, but this was the first time he hid away to make a call, so who would not be suspicious?
Alpha Denzel did not try to appease her anger, adding fuel to her already burning rage. “I just started now. What do you think? That I’m cheating on you?” Amusement laced his tone, but Valerie did not smile back and demanded.
“Give me the phone and let me see.” Her hand was outstretched towards him, and Alpha Denzel gave the phone to her, but there was no call history. Valerie frowned imperceptibly, pressing the phone back into the palm of his hand.
“You cheating bastard. You deleted everything.”
Alpha Denzel chuckled. He couldn’t be bothered. “You look cute when upset. What can I do to get you even more upset?”
Valerie was shaking her head from shock and rage. Since when did Alpha Denzel develop such a great sense of humor?
Earlier on, he kept teasing Alessia heartlessly and even laughed a few times. “I thought you’d be saddened by your sister’s leaving, but you seem far from that.”
Alpha Denzel’s gaze dulled a little. He was indeed going to miss Alessia but tried not to let it show.
Faking nonchalance, he shrugged. “It’s not as if she’s dying. She’s with her mate. I don’t think she’ll even miss me.”
A force rushed up the stairs, and Alessia wrapped her arms tightly around him. How could she not miss her brother when she always desired to be with him ever since knowing they were siblings?
“I hate that I’m already missing you.” Alessia buried her face in his chest, her voice muffled from the position.
Alpha Denzel tried to fight his emotions, faking nonchalance once more in his voice.
“Then you can stay here with Godic, and I would go to Las Vegas with Valerie.”
“You…” Alessia could not believe how fast he wanted to ship her away. She took his words quite seriously, but before she could complete her sentence, Alpha Denzel pressed his lips on her forehead.
It got so emotional that Godic took a picture of them. Moments like this needed to be preserved. Alpha Denzel could not hide his emotions anymore; his voice thickened with whatever he was feeling.
“I love you, Aless, and I will miss you. Be good and don’t cause him trouble.” He patted her on the back after creating a distance between them.
He did not want Alessia to stay any longer, as that would make it difficult for him to let her go. She and Luna Fernanda were his only living blood relatives.
It was even deeper with Alessia because they shared the same parents. Now she found her mate and had to leave. What would he have done if he hadn’t also found his mate?
“I’ll miss you too, and I promise to be good,” Alessia smiled and replied sincerely.
Denzel and Valerie were met by Burke, Gandolf, and Dorothy as they escorted Alessia and Godic to the chopper.
Reaching there, a woman stood in front of the chopper, blocking anyone from getting close to it.
