Chapter 245: Chapter 245 – I promise I won’t touch her
“Tell me everything I need to know.” The serious expression on Alpha Denzel’s face sent a warning to Burke not to lie when they arrived at the frontage of the packhouse.

Burke was slightly nervous, but this was not something he could keep to himself as his hands would always itch to touch her.

Not in an unconventional way, but Alpha Denzel’s warriors had been trained to not take interest in any woman who wasn’t theirs.

As soon as Burke took an interest in Alice, it would create suspicions. “Alpha, Alice is my mate.”

Alpha Denzel found it unbelievable but could not dismiss the possibility. He was concerned about Alice’s age.

“She’s 16, Burke, 16 if you didn’t hear me the first time.”

Burke smiled a little, understanding the reason for Alpha Denzel’s concern and explained, “I know, Alpha. That is why she doesn’t recognize me, so I will patiently wait until she turns the legal age, recognizes, and accepts me.”

Alpha Denzel was relieved by his strategy but feared that Burke might go against his word. The mate bond was too strong, and if he was feeling it, it could negatively affect him since Alice had not yet been blessed with her wolf.

Then Alpha Denzel thought about Alice’s powers, wondering what kind they were. Most people gifted with special powers would only manifest them after getting their wolf, but she used hers to help her Alpha and even Valerie without her wolf.

‘Could she be a witch?’

If that were the case, it would be a significant problem as witches were not allowed close to packs. They were considered too dangerous.

“You forgot to mention that you are not sharing a room with her,” Alpha Denzel said seriously. Burke was slightly displeased. Not that he would mate with Alice if they shared a room, but he just wanted her close.

“I promise I won’t touch her. I just want to take care of her,” he stated, not accepting the policy of not sharing a room together.

“Nope. You are not sharing a room with her, and that is final,” Alpha Denzel said sternly, indicating that the matter was non-negotiable.

Burke had to accept his fate. It was just a matter of a year and a few months for Alice to turn eighteen.

He had already waited for four years before finding her, so this was something he could handle. “Yes, Alpha.”

Returning inside, Burke tried his best to hide his emotions, lest Alpha Denzel made things even more difficult. All he wanted was to hug his mate a few times and take good care of her.

He also feared that seeing younger warriors, she might think he was too old for her when she turned eighteen and might even reject him.

So many fearful thoughts nestled in his mind, but seeing the nurse removing the catheter from her hand, he was worried.

Luckily, Alpha Denzel asked the question he wanted to ask. “Is she okay already?”

“She’s going to be discharged, so I’m just waiting to take her to the packhouse,” Valerie said. Alice instantly asked,

“You won’t send me back, will you?” She did not have a friend at the Black Fur Pack and had no desire to return there.

This was the first time she had been shown care since her parents died, and she wanted it to remain like this.

“No,” Valerie answered to her relief, but Denzel had some questions for her.

“Alice, you said something earlier about doubting if Alpha Ludwig would allow you to leave the pack. Can you tell us why?”

Alice felt a little fear whenever she heard Alpha Denzel’s voice, though it was soft this time. She spoke truthfully.

“It’s because of my powers. I use them to protect the pack.”

Now Alpha Denzel confirmed his thoughts, but Valerie was amazed that the Black Fur Pack was being protected by a teenager. It was just too hard to believe.

“How do you do that?” She asked. Alice explained slowly.

“I draw the pack and put the drawing in a bowl of water. As long as the water remains around the painting, the pack is safe.”

Valerie’s brows raised as this was one of the strangest things she had ever heard. Or did Alice miss the fact that she had to use some incantations? That was usually what witches used.

“Is it normal water?” Alpha Denzel asked, testing the darkness of her powers. If she used incantations, then she was a witch.

“Yes, but it doesn’t become normal again when I look into it. There is power in my eyes,” she revealed truthfully.

Alpha Denzel released a breath he didn’t know he was holding, as he feared what Valerie might do if he were to send Alice away.

Valerie doubted the whole thing a little due to the condition in which she saw Alice. “Then why did you allow those girls to do that to you? You should have used your powers.”

Alice forced a smile as she recalled that dark moment of her life. “I did, but it was too late. Only the Alpha and a few of his trusted men knew about my powers, so I was afraid of using them earlier.”

“I’m glad to have reached you early, but those girls will pay. Let’s go to the packhouse. I have a surprise for you.”

Valerie smiled and held out her hand to her. Alice beamed and hooked her hand to hers but suddenly frowned and withdrew it.

“People like me cannot live in the packhouse.”

Her words caught a reaction from everybody around, including the nurse. “Why?” Valerie asked. Alice lowered her head thoughtfully.

“We are seen to be cursed.”

Valerie rested her two hands on Alice’s shoulders, looked her in the eyes, and spelled it out.

“Well, over here, you shall stay at the packhouse.”

Excitement surged through Alice’s heart as she asked, “Will you let me stay forever?”

Alpha Denzel’s phone rang, interrupting the conversation. “Alpha Ludwig. What does he want?” He frowned and thought aloud before answering the call. “Alpha Ludwig?”

“Alpha Denzel, please, the girls have been punished. Can I come for Alice? The pack needs her,” Alpha Ludwig pleaded over the phone. Alpha Denzel stared at Alice and responded,

“That depends.” Then he asked, “Alice, do you want to go back?”
