Chapter 247: Chapter 247 – I don’t want bad news.
“They don’t know about it, and it’s the only thing that makes me feel needed,”

Alice’s voice was teary at the last part. Valerie was saddened by the extent to which Alice went to feel needed by her pack.

Alpha Denzel was no longer inclined to allow her to make the decision. “You don’t have to do this anymore,” he said sternly, but Valerie asked,

“Can you demonstrate it?” She was still curious to know how it happens since she had never seen anything like it in her entire life.

“What do I use?” Alice asked, not familiar with using her powers when there was nothing particular to use it on.

“Use me,” Burke said. Alice did not refuse. She stared at him, and her eyes rolled back like in a mindlink. Following the direction of her eyes, Burke was lifted and fell behind the chair he sat on.

“Ouch,” he groaned. It was more painful than he thought, yet he was happy that she was gifted with something special like this.

She should have used it to defend herself when the need arose. Valerie was staring at Alice’s hand since she did not show the slightest sign of pain.

It was red as if fire was burning it, but there was no smell of flesh burning. “Does it hurt?” She asked with worry. Alice bobbed her head and responded,

“Yes.”

After seeing this, Alpha Denzel could not allow her to return to the Black Fur pack. They would use her powers without mercy.

Why else would Alpha Ludwig mention that the pack needed her? “I guess you don’t want to go back to them.”

Alpha Denzel did not give her a choice in the matter and spoke to the nurse. “Give her something to relieve her from the pain.”

Alice shook her head. “Nothing can relieve it. It will return to normal after three days.”

“But the scar will always be there,” he reminded her. Alice nodded her head. No one knew the painful nights she endured while her pack members slept in peace.

It sometimes kept her awake, and she would spend the time painting her role model, Luna Valerie.

Alpha Denzel removed the call from hold and said, “Sorry, she’s not coming.”

“Alpha Denzel, please, we need her. The pack, especially,” Alpha Ludwig sounded helpless, but no one took pity.

“Did you know that using her powers was causing her physical harm? She suffers burns every time she does.” He took a snapshot of the reddened surface and sent it to him.

A few seconds later, Alpha Ludwig spoke after seeing the picture. “I’m very sorry, but I never knew about this. She never told anyone before.”

Knowing that he was not lying, Alpha Denzel did not take offense with him. “That is the reason why you can’t have her back. I will ban her from using her powers so she’s practically useless to you.”

The fact was made clear that Alpha Ludwig needed Alice for her powers. Alpha Denzel found out, and he could not deny it.

However, Alpha Ludwig felt there might still be a way around it. “How about she returns? I won’t allow her to use her powers but would only make it up to her for the damage caused.”

He paused as if catching his breath and continued. “Alpha Denzel, I feel guilty, and since she’s my pack member, it’s my right to have her here.”

Speaking from the legalities of pack constitutions, Alpha Denzel removed the call from speaker and walked out of the ward.

Valerie could only exchange glances with Burke and Alice, not understanding why he denied them listening to the conversation.

“Please watch her. I will be back.”

She followed Alpha Denzel to the front of the pack hospital, and though he saw her, he continued to speak on the phone.

“Alpha Ludwig, aside from the fact that I don’t believe you would keep your word to not let her use her powers anymore, the second reason is the fact that Alice is my beta, Burke’s mate.”

“She is underage, so we can’t let her know of it. Once she reaches the idle age, the right thing will be done. As for now, we shall treat her as a very important guest, and if she so deems to join the pack, it will not be denied her.”

The information crippled Burke from the other side of the line that for the next thirty seconds, he was struck with silence.

“Beta Burke is her mate?”

He could not believe that the Black Fur Pack lost Alice for good. The mate bond was indeed a good reason for Alice to be at the Evergreen pack unless she herself refused.

“I have no reason to lie to you aside from the fact that Alice is very comfortable with Luna Valerie.”

Regret lay heavily on Alpha Ludwig’s heart. Only if he had moved Alice to the pack house on time, she would have still spent a few years with them before moving to the Evergreen pack.

“Okay. I accept my loss.”

“And I hope it will be a lesson to treat your pack members better next time,” Alpha Denzel reminded him. This was Alpha Kenderick’s fault, but Ludwig was equally the beta by then.

He could have still protected her. “Yes. Thank you. Goodbye.”

“They are mates?” Valerie asked, referring to Burke and Alice when Alpha Denzel ended the call.

“You heard right. We should leave now,” Alpha Denzel wrapped his arm around her waist and spoke before adding in a hushed tone, “I’m already missing you.”

Valerie’s cheeks were so red they were climbing up her ears. It was clear that the insatiable beast wanted to cripple her with sex.

Arriving at the packhouse, Alice felt lost. “It’s so huge.”

The maids stared at her with interest, wondering where she came from. It was obvious that she was not from the pack, but her behavior was like that of an omega.

“Do you like it?” Valerie asked. She stared at Valerie like she was seeing a ghost. “This is so beautiful. No wonder the girls said the Evergreen pack has the best of everything.”

“You should see your room then.”

“My room?” Alice was puzzled as Valerie explained. “Yes. You should have your own room, and I kept all the dresses and shoes I bought for you there.”

She dragged Alice up the stairs as the girl was unwilling to move. Alpha Denzel and Burke remained downstairs as Alpha Denzel began to realize something. Alice was going to steal his Luna from him.

His phone rang, and seeing it was the investigator, he quickly answered it. “I don’t want bad news.”
