Chapter 249: Chapter 249 – Denzel, let me come with you
“Wow, is this a princess room like they do for those human princesses?” Alice was amazed when she entered the room, and Valerie couldn’t help the smile blooming on her face.

The girl seemed ignorant but knew quite a lot. “You know about human princesses?”

Alice eagerly nodded her head, tempted but not daring to sit on the queen-sized bed that seemed like it belonged to a real princess.

The interior décor of a pure blend of pink and yellow greatly brightened her mood, and for the first time, she felt so special, speaking dreamily.

“When my parents were alive, they read me stories about them.”

Valerie smiled and led her to the pink closet. Alice felt like she was in a different world, far from any pack. “Now you get to live like a princess. Look into the closet. See if you have everything you need.”

The space in the closet was even larger than that of her room in the Black Fur Pack. “Are you serious? This is like ten years of what I need.”

Alice could not contain her excitement, feeling like her parents were right there by her side, granting all her wishes like a fairy god mother.

“You are funny. In ten years, these clothes would not fit,” Valerie playfully ran her fingers through Alice’s hair. She was happy with the reaction and wanted the smile to remain plastered on her face forever.

“They are so beautiful,” Alice said, wiping joyful tears from the corners of her eyes.

“Just like you,” Valerie smiled at her. “You can shower and change into any of the casual clothes. Your hair is very long, so should you need help drying it, don’t forget to call me.”

Looking at all the stunning clothes in the closet, Alice could not believe they were hers. “I know that I’m not beautiful. You can say it.”

Valerie frowned at her words before assuring her. “You are beautiful, both on the outside and inside.”

Alice turned moody and went to sit on the bed. Then she stood up and sat again. The texture was nothing she had ever sat on before.

In the end, she decided to sit on a chair and enjoy the bed only after she showers.

“I heard the girls talking, and they all wanted to be mated to the strongest warriors, Alphas, or betas. I can never even dream of being mated to the weakest of all omegas.”

Valerie recalled Alpha Denzel’s confirmation of Burke being Alice’s mate, smiled, and asked,

“Which type would you want to be mated to when you turn eighteen?”

Alice blushed, a little embarrassed to be discussing something like this with Luna Valerie but could not stop herself from answering the question.

“I don’t know. Do I even deserve to be mated?”

Valerie encouraged her. “Yes, sweetie, you deserve all the goodies in life, and I am sure you will have your heart’s desire.”

Alice spoke dreamily, as if making a wish. “When I turn eighteen, I want to be mated to someone like Beta Burke.”

Valerie’s brows raised in both surprise and admiration. From her experience, she knew that one could develop a strong liking for another, even without a mate bond.

“Why do you say so?” She asked, wondering how Alice got her connection. She explained excitedly.

“Before you arrived at the hospital, he was so nice to me, practically taking care of everything and very cautious with what the doctors do. He is a very good man.”

Valerie was nodding her head, understanding that Alice’s liking for Burke was due to the fact that she never enjoyed attention from any other man like him.

“That is nice. Let’s hope he doesn’t find his mate by the time you turn eighteen. I could force him to marry you.”

Valerie was careful not to make it suspicious that Alice’s mate had already been waiting for her, five years ago.

“You will do that for me?” Alice was excited, and Valerie nodded her head, not expecting her feeble arms to wrap warmly around her.

“You are so sweet,” Alice said, glad that she got to stay with Luna Valerie.

“And so are you, but you know what? I don’t want you to be afraid of Alpha Denzel. He is very bad to bad people and good to good people,” Valerie explained carefully. Alice smiled shyly.

“I will try. His voice is strange. It’s like even when he’s speaking softly, it’s actually a command.”

Valerie chuckled in agreement but did not know how to explain it, only saying, “I guess that is just how Alphas are.”

“No. Alpha Denzel is so different, but I love to paint. Do you mind if I paint him to thank him? I already painted you a lot of times.”

Valerie smiled since she equally loved to paint, and it would be a good surprise for Alpha Denzel.

“Sure. It would be a nice surprise for him.”

“Is there a painting brush?” Alice asked, and Valerie went to check the drawers as she spoke.

“I think so. I saw the paintings on your wall and informed them to make provision for it. It’s right here.” She spotted the paintbrushes and pulled out the pack. Alice beamed.

“Great.” Then she saw the painting board and smiled even wider. “And a painting board too. Okay. Time me. I will finish his painting in less than fifteen minutes.”

Valerie was shocked and ready for the challenge. “Fifteen. Are you kidding?”

Alice already began the painting, and Valerie timed her. Ten minutes through, she was already finishing up when the door pushed open without a knock.

Valerie turned around, upset that their surprise had been ruined when she saw Alpha Denzel.

“Denzel, you should not have come.”

Alpha Denzel was hasty, determined to leave before any questions. However, he could not keep his eyes from the unfinished painting, no matter how he tried.

“I will excuse you ladies. Sorry I didn’t knock. I just wanted to inform you that I will be away for a few hours.”

Valerie spoke absentmindedly. “Sure, you can go.” Then she paused. “But wait, where exactly? I remember you saying that we go everywhere together.”

Alpha Denzel was slightly nervous, but it did not show in his facial expression. “Now you have a powerful wolf, so there is no need for that. The pack is in your hands. See you soon.”

He turned around to leave before she could ask another question, but just as he stepped out of the door, Valerie ran after him.

“Denzel, let me come with you.”
