Chapter 305: Chapter 305 – Look into your heart
Denzel stiffened at the mention of Lisa, and his eyes reddened instantly. Valerie could feel the emotional trauma he was going through and discharged the staff.

“Everyone, time is far spent. You should all go about your work, and those who are on the day shift can go home. Everything else will be communicated to you through HR.”

Aurora feared what was going to happen next if she was left alone with Denzel and Valerie.

Having been enslaved by a mafia don for a greater part of her life, she could not help but fear that Denzel might eliminate her, or even Valerie.

“You want to kill me too?” Aurora asked audibly, gaining everyone’s attention. Denzel was disheartened.

Before he could do something he might regret, Valerie asked Aurora, “What are you talking about?”

Aurora was afraid of being left alone with them and continued to speak audibly. “If you don’t want to kill me, then why are you sending them away?” She asked. Valerie was now upset, and her voice was slightly raised.

“Why are you so heartless? Can’t you see that he’s in pain?”

Aurora noticed the slightly paled look on Don Denzel’s face, but her fears of what might happen next could not allow her to believe they would just let her live.

“You are putting on this façade to look kind in front of everyone, then you can eliminate me secretly. That is what all these dons do.”

Aurora’s accusation crippled Denzel. If it were somebody else, he might have indeed done that, but for the sake of his late destined mate, he could not even think about harming Aurora.

Though he could not defend himself at this time, it was true that the good we do always finds ways to come back to us.

“Don Denzel is different,” a bold voice spoke up. Everyone turned in the direction of the bold female voice as Aurora murmured.

“Oh, Greta. You are new, so how could you know anything about the mafia? I was enslaved by one of such dons for years.”

“And so was I,” Greta said with a bitter expression, adding, “but I was rescued. Madam Valerie and Alessia saved my life that night.”

Everyone was shocked. Greta was brought in through the back door, so most people thought she must have done Alessia a favor, but it turns out it was the other way around.

“They were ready to do anything for my freedom, even when they didn’t know me. If Don Denzel had not arrived that night, they would have been abused because of me, but Madam Valerie refused to give up on me.”

She shook her head, saddened by the drama Aurora was putting up after receiving great help from Denzel and his family.

“These women only hurt bad people. They would never hurt a good person, so why have you become like the same people you claim to have hurt you so much?” Greta asked Aurora. Her shame did not let her reason right.

“They bribed you, didn’t they?” She asked in a sarcasm-filled tone. Greta shook her head once more and approached her.

“Aurora, look into your heart. Even if your sister were alive, would your life have been different? Everything said here meant Don Denzel liked her, but he didn’t marry her. Do you really think that if she was alive and had not met Don Denzel, you would have gotten this freedom, peace, and happiness you enjoy now?”

The question pierced Aurora’s heart, leaving a raw wound that could not heal at any moment.

The fact remained that Denzel did not marry Lisa. They never even dated. If they had not met for some reason, Aurora could have continued in her suffering because Denzel would not have cared for her.

“What is the point?” Aurora asked, regret evident in her tone this time. Greta swallowed tightly and spoke calmly.

“Good question and my answer is, you are being ungrateful and mean. Ma’am is just trying to make this company better for everybody, but you are so blinded by jealousy, you are allowing it to devour you. I think Don is being too lenient with you. He should just shoot you here, and no one would miss you.”

Her last words left everyone spellbound. Greta was grateful for the kindness shown to her and would die before she allowed anyone to trash the hands that fed and protected her.

She left as soon as she finished speaking, and everyone soon followed. Only Aurora remained with Denzel, Alessia, and Valerie.

“You shall be moved to one of the branches and must not appear at the head office until you are called. All your benefits remain for the sake of your late sister, Lisa. We shall give you a house close to the branch we agree on and a car,” Valerie said.

Denzel did not want to continue with the aid he was giving Aurora, but since Valerie wanted to, he could not stop her.

The fact that she felt his pain meant she would never take a decision that would hurt him.

“Whatever you do with your life after that is up to you, but if we hear any bad report about you with proof, please don’t blame us for taking action and letting you go permanently. This is our last kindness to you,” Valerie spelled out, but Aurora felt she was faking it.

However, there was no one around to impress, which did not make sense to her at all. “Why are you being nice to me? I planned to cause you an accident to leave you with a head injury or death. Are you still going to let me get away with it?”

She thought she would face punishment and was ready for it, but this sudden show of kindness took her unawares.

Valerie let out a frustrated sigh and replied to her. “Aurora, Denzel is a very good man, and I would die for him any day. Judge between yourself and me. Can you do the same for him?”

Valerie wrapped her arms around Denzel’s waist, allowing Aurora to wallow in her shame as they walked out of the hall.

Even as Valerie removed all the verdicts Denzel passed against her, Aurora felt like the biggest loser.

Denzel’s mood was down even when they reached the office, so Alessia convinced him and Valerie to come with her to the club a few hours later, as she had heard from Godic how much of a good dancer her brother was.

Perhaps that might brighten his mood. Denzel agreed after Valerie kept ringing it in his ears, and over there, a pleasant surprise awaited them.
