Denzel pondered deeply. The lakeside rogues would never attack a pack that did not have something belonging to them.

This was strange, so he asked, “What do they want? Are you capable of taking them down? Is Godic of good help?”

Denzel did not panic, even though Valerie was also with him and not with the pack. He had faith in his pack leaders but also knew that rogues supported each other.

With them knowing the Alpha was not physically present, they would not give up but rather call on their allies for help.

Rogues were desperate to possess a pack, so the war could go on for days. Only the presence of an Alpha would scare them away.

“Yes, Alpha, Godic is helping greatly. I just wanted you to be aware. There are rumors of someone possessing the powers from the lake. It’s the reason for the rogue attack.”

Denzel knew that Alice’s powers were not from the lake but from the moon.

Also, Burke was aware of it and would not expose her, especially when she was his mate. “The powers from the lake? Who could that be?” Denzel asked, looking lost.

However, Lake’s next question made him suspicious if he was speaking under duress.

“Alpha, have you noticed anything off about our Luna? During the last rogue attack, one of them mentioned that our Luna has some special powers.”

The obsession of Alphas wanting Valerie because of her Luna wolf had not ended. Should these rogues know that she had an Alpha wolf, there would be another quest for Valerie.

Or, the Alpha wolf might scare them off, but since Denzel had no idea which of them would work at the moment, he tried to play safe.

The last time there was an attack, Valerie had used her wolf, so they must have already seen it, though not knowing it was her.

“Our Luna only has an Alpha wolf. She doesn’t have any special powers.”

Denzel was hearing the war screams but could not tell if it was the rogues or his pack winning until he heard a familiar voice from the distance.

“Alpha, Please don’t answer.” It was Godic’s voice, and Denzel instantly felt something amiss.

“What is going on?” Denzel asked, but the line already died.

Possibly, these rogues must have contracted some spirits, making it even more dangerous and fierce.

At this point, Denzel wished he had powers to just disappear from the human world and appear in his pack.

“Denzel, what is the problem?” Valerie asked when he lowered the phone, meaning the call ended.

Denzel sighed but could not answer her directly and referred to Alessia.

“Aless, why don’t you make us something to eat?” He spoke calmly before turning to Valerie.

“I have something to discuss with you.”

In spite of his calm facade, both women knew there was something off.

“Denzel, is something the matter?” Alessia asked again. Denzel did not hide it since her mate was involved.

“The pack is under attack. Don’t you want us to eat something before leaving?”

“I will hurry up,” Alessia said and ran ahead. She wanted Denzel to leave quickly to go help, as she was afraid of anything happening to Godic.

As Denzel led Valerie to their room, he kept dialing Burke’s number, but it was switched off.

Restless, Denzel began to question Valerie eagerly. “Val, the last time you communicated with your wolf through the lake, how did you feel?”

If she had any connection at the time, then that could be her.

“That has been a while, but why are you asking now?” Valerie asked with a confused expression. Denzel was slightly impatient.

“Please answer me Val, the lakeside rogues are looking for someone possessing the powers from the lake. Water is quiet, unless there is a storm. The way you did those investigations. Do you feel any different?”

Valerie was slowly understanding that this was linked to the powers Denzel questioned her about before.

“Aside from my curiosity, I don’t feel any different.”

Denzel believed her and realized how impossible it was to get anything from her at this moment.

“Of course you wouldn’t. We aren’t in the pack.”

Valerie did not understand why they were still standing there without picking up a few things and returning to the pack.

“Are we leaving now?”

Denzel weighed his options since he did not plan to return to Las Vegas anytime soon after his return to the pack.

“Maybe. Let me make a few calls. My meeting tomorrow is very important.”

Valerie did not argue, only reminding him. “But the pack is under attack means you are needed.”

“Burke can handle a lot of things with Godic’s help. This is a test of their competence, but let me try Godic’s number.”

Denzel dialed, but there was no answer. Perhaps Godic had already shifted, so there would be no way to communicate with him through the phone, and mindlink would also not work because of the distance.

“Should we not be on our way?” Valerie asked once more upon seeing his frustrations.

“Even if we leave now, we still would not be able to make it on time. But I have an idea,” Denzel spoke thoughtfully. Valerie’s eyes lit up immediately as she asked.

She watched Denzel dial Alpha Troy’s number. “My pack is under attack, and I can’t communicate with my leaders. Can you help?”

Troy could tell that Alpha Denzel was on one of those travels.

Nevertheless, he felt honored that Alpha Denzel thought about him in the time of trouble.

“Sure. Adira knows a lot about your pack, so we shall set out with a lot of warriors.”

Denzel was grateful. “Take it as a loan. You shall be repaid.”

“No need, Alpha Denzel. You already helped us a lot,” Troy quickly refused.

After ending the call with Troy, Denzel dialed Idris’s number and said the same message.

“I shall gather my warriors and be on my way,” Idris replied.

The black fur pack was nothing without Alice, so Denzel did not bother to call Ludwig.

The thought of Alice gave him an idea, and he said to Valerie.

“Can you call Alice, please?”

Valerie was rather uneasy with the request. “What for? Did you not say never to use her powers?”
