Chapter 314: Chapter 314 – As Fast as You Can
At the Evergreen Pack
“Thank you for all your help, Alpha Troy and Idris,” Godic shook hands in turn with the two Alphas before smiling at Adira. “Luna Adira, we miss you but are also happy that you are happy.”
He had been quite close to Adira before leaving for Vegas, so their friendship had been rekindled with a lot to catch up on.
“Godic, you make me want to cry. I wish to see Alessia sometime soon, but for now, take care of yourself too.”
Adira was saddened to be leaving back to her pack, but her responsibilities there were enough motivation for her to make the journey.
Also, they were going to return in a few days for Valerie’s coronation, lessening her worries.
Facing Burke, she spoke honestly. “And Burke, you are doing great. Gandolf and Dorothy, I must say your positions are well-deserved,” she concluded.
A lot had changed since she left, but they were all positive changes.
After handshakes and hugs here and there, the Alphas and Adira left. It was noon before Godic was also ready to set off.
Godic hugged Burke, and then Gandolf. He had already bid goodbye to his family and was about to leave to meet Alpha Denzel at the base.
“I will miss you, brother. I hope you visit again soon,” Burke said, his voice loaded with longing. Godic smiled and responded, “If I am called at any time, I will surely come.”
Burke walked Godic to the gates before the latter shifted as Burke stuffed a nylon bag containing his clothes in his mouth. As soon as he got to the base, he would just shift to human form and wear them.
Burke, Gandolf, and Dorothy did some checks around the packs with some warriors before nightfall.
Burke was just about to go check on the project at the Omega’s community with Dorothy, since the engineers would not be around by then.
He did most of his checks around that time to take note of any errors to be pointed out to them before their arrival the next day.
The war sirens began to ring before they reached their destination.
Being the early hours of the evening, all the lights in the pack were turned on as a mindlink invaded Burke’s mind. ‘Beta Burke, it’s the lakeside rogues again.’
He instantly dialed Alpha Denzel’s number. “Alpha, the lakeside rogues are back.”
“Do what you can. I will be there soon.”
Burke was very happy to hear that Alpha Denzel was not too far from the pack. If not for the sorcerer, he would have been able to win this battle without informing Alpha Denzel.
“Dorothy, please keep Alice close to you and get some of the warriors to help you protect the weak,” he said to the woman by his side.
He had learned from Alice’s recovery that she had used her powers, so it would be good for her to be with Dorothy in case Alpha Denzel decided to call on Alice’s help once more.
‘Gandolf, let’s take as many of them down before that sorcerer appears,’ Burke said through mindlink, informing the remaining warriors by the same means.
‘Warriors, hit to kill. As fast as you can. We can all stand against the sorcerer after that.’
His plan was to take down as many rogues as he could, then focus on the sorceress after. ‘Yes, Beta Burke,’ multiple responses invaded his mindlink.
The fight was fierce, as it was obvious that the lakeside rogues had gone for reinforcement. These rogues were tougher, but the warriors of the Evergreen Pack were more skillful and faster.
The rogue king seemed determined to take over the pack this time, seeing no Alpha around. As soon as he heard the information that the two Alphas had left, he jeered towards another attack.
Still, he was impressed with the Evergreen Pack warriors’ battle skills. Even with stronger rogues, they were easily taken down.
He beckoned for the sorcerer, and she came to stand beside him. “What do you want, my king?” If they succeeded in taking over the Evergreen Pack, she would be the Luna.
“Make them stop,” the rogue king commanded. She lifted her hand, and all movements halted on both sides, all the warriors turned to their direction.

Another spell had been cast so easily, but Burke was exempted from it because they needed information from him. He stood in front of the rogue king. “You came back, and you won’t leave here alive.”
Burke was sure of that. His Alpha and Luna would be at the pack very soon, as all he was trying to do was stall for time.
The rogue king was visibly upset as he replied with a daring tone, looking at the sorceress. “If she snaps a finger, not only you but all your warriors would be dead, but that is not why I am here.”
“So, what do you want?” Burke asked, not the least afraid of the sorcerers when he had both a male and female Alpha on the way coming to their defense.
“There is a girl with special powers, not from the lake. Give her up, and the pack would be free.”
The smile on Burke’s face froze, knowing that the target had now shifted to Alice. With his anger burning inside of him, he retorted. “There is no such person here.”
The rogue king stared at the sorcerer, wondering if her discernment was wrong but watched her lick her long nails slightly. “I can taste her. She is in the pack house,” she said in a hungry tone.
Burke’s fingers balled into fists as the rogue king demanded. “Bring her out or,” he pointed at the sorceress. “She would go in there and bring her.”
If anything at all, Burke would rather die than allow any harm to come near Alice. “There is no such girl, and I dare you to go near the pack house.”
The rogue king only believed the sorceress and dashed towards the pack house with her in tow, but both of them froze when they reached there.
“Alpha Denzel?” The rogue king asked, taken aback.
“Luna Valerie?” The sorceress asked, equally taken aback.
