Chapter 320: Chapter 320 – Valerie’s Shame
She fell right into Denzel’s arms, and he was not too worried, knowing it was a result of the shock of seeing her father in one piece or the punishment she was going to face for her distrust in him.

Slapping her cheeks gently, he called after her. “Val, wake up. You owe me a punishment, so don’t try to escape it. It won’t work.” Ashley chuckled, not having the slightest understanding of Denzel’s personality.

He was nothing like the outside world said.

Valerie’s eyes snapped open from his words. It meant that Denzel won the bet, and it was indeed her father. “Dad?” Tears streamed down her cheeks.

Denzel released his hold on her, and she went to embrace her father. The middle-aged man almost fell from the force, but he was happy to see that his daughter was living well.

No one told him about Tristan being Valerie’s mate, but he knew about those who tried to kill him.

“I am happy the moon goddess rewarded me with a good mate for you.” She looked prettier and stronger than when he left.

Denzel had indeed taken care of his little tomboy.

Valerie did not know if he was strong enough to hear about everything that happened to her, but right now, she was just interested in knowing what happened to her father all these months.

“Dad, I’m so sorry I couldn’t protect you.” She wiped a tear from the corner of her eyes and though her father’s eyes were equally moist, he could not shed a tear.

It was a shame for an Alpha to shed a tear in public, even if it was for a joyful reunion like this.

Her father stared affectionately at her. Since he did not have a son, he trained her like a boy.

This was one of the reasons Ashley left for the human world, not wanting to be caught up with being a tomboy.

“No. I was too hard on you, and you were always busy. I heard what they did to you, so I couldn’t burden you with my condition,” her father said to Ashley’s shock.

Seemed her father heard all her chats with Raven when she was working. They thought he was unconscious, but it didn’t seem so anymore.

“Dad, let’s go in. We have a lot to talk about.” Valerie was leading her father to the living room when he abruptly stopped and turned around, beckoning for Roy and Raven to come close.

The middle-aged man heard the ruckus that happened earlier and did not want Denzel to be the one introducing Raven and Roy.

“These twins rescued me. Roy and Raven, but Raven was the one who healed me. We begged Alpha Denzel to allow them into this pack.”

Valerie remembered faintly that Denzel had told her about a meeting with some rogues, with the decision about him taking some of them in not finalized.

Valerie smiled at the pair with raised brows. Raven’s petite appearance was similar to that of Alice. “Of course. Anyone who treated you kindly is welcome.”

“They are rogues,” Alpha Lawn ascertained. Valerie thought they must have left their packs to join the rogues in taking care of her father, but hearing they were indeed the enemies of all packs, she was quite skeptical.

“What?”

“That is the problem. It was not easy for them to leave. That was the reason Alpha Denzel had to come and get us,” her father explained on Denzel’s behalf. Valerie wanted to dig a hole and bury herself.

‘So that was what Denzel’s meeting with Ashley was all about. To plan this surprise for me.’

Valerie felt so ashamed but was glad it was late, and only Burke was around. If not, she would have been too embarrassed.

She went to Raven and held both of her hands in hers. “Thank you so much for saving my father, Raven. I promise to make it up to you.”

Raven shook her head, and her voice was soft, just like that of Alice. “No need, Luna Valerie. Accepting us in your pack is the greatest reward you can give us. It’s beautiful here, and I already feel safe.”

Valerie felt something off. “Why were you banished from your pack?” She asked, Denzel took the words from Raven’s mouth.

“They were born rogues. Their Alpha slept with their father’s mate, so he killed him. That was how he was banished from the pack,” Denzel tried to recall the full story and summarized it.

Relieved that these two had not committed any crime, Valerie began to look around, thinking about their accommodation. “We have…”

“Burke already arranged a house for them,” Alpha Denzel spoke, knowing what she wanted to say and at the same time, took her worries away.

However, Valerie was still afraid because she made him upset, and this time, she could not even discern the kind of punishment he had in store for her.

If only she had not allowed the past to consume her so much and trusted Denzel, just as he trusted her, she would not have been in the hole she was in now.

Then again, the way she took it out on Ashley and slapped her. If Denzel had not stopped her, she would have done worse.

Nevertheless, she knew that just like her, Ashley was very kind-hearted and would forgive her after an apology and a good meal, but Denzel would not go back on punishing her.

Alpha Denzel nodded his head and reminded them. “You shall swear to the pack during training tomorrow. Go eat and have a good rest. Burke would take care of everything you need.”

As they were about to enter the pack house, they saw Alice running towards them with fear in her eyes. “Alice, I thought you were in your room. What are you doing out so late?”
