Chapter 333: Chapter 333 – Learning to trust the hard way.
“Val, you are here. Why not take over? I have something to show Ashley,” Alpha Denzel said gently, joining his hand with Ashley’s as he dragged her away. Valerie was stunned.
Denzel and Ashley were leading training together when she arrived, and though Denzel had promised not to smile at any woman, he smiled at Ashley. Right now, he held her hand and pulled her away.
This was unlike him, as the first time she suspected them, there was not any kind of bodily contact.
By the time Valerie awakened from her trance, they were nowhere in sight. Something strong inside her wanted her to follow them, but she decided to follow the advice of her wolf and not do so.
‘I don’t sense that our mate is cheating on us. Let him be.’
She suddenly recalled last night. Denzel was trustworthy and never did anything to warrant her distrust. It was the same with Ashley. They both loved her and not the likes of Scarlet.
Also, if they were really up to something, then they would not do so publicly. Tristan and Scarlet never did anything to hint that they were even acquainted when they betrayed her.
“Everybody, gather around. We are changing the training routine for today,” Valerie announced as all the warriors gathered around her.
Denzel might not be there, but she still had Burke, Gandolf, and Dorothy. She wanted to use this opportunity to spot out leaders among the bunch.
“Experienced warriors are going to help the amateurs today. If you have any areas of weakness, call for help from any of the experienced warriors and myself, Burke, Gandolf, and Dorothy would observe and see if you are doing it correctly.
She looked around for the twins who rescued her father, determined to train them to be among the best.
“Ray, Raven, don’t hesitate to ask questions. And you, Alice, over here, we train for battle so whatever you do, imagine if the enemy was right in front of you.”
To her utmost surprise, the warriors began gossiping. “Luna doesn’t mind that her sister is flirting with the Alpha. I trust our Alpha, but can our Luna’s sister be trusted?”
“The Luna does not seem to care. Maybe it isn’t what you think,” another warrior retorted, a third voice spoke.
“I love our Luna. Maybe we should warn her.”

Valerie heard what they were saying but did not take it to heart. Last night, she promised Denzel that she was going to trust him, so if she was going to be a fool for love one more time, then she would do so, as Denzel was deserving of it.
The warriors were surprised that she did not chastise, encourage, or stop them from spreading rumors, be it false or true. Everyone began doing their bidding, as one of the female warriors could not stand it anymore and approached her.
“Luna, don’t you think you should check on the Alpha? He left with your sister, but after what Scarlet did, I won’t trust anyone if I were you.”
Due to the level of care permeating from the voice of the warrior, Valerie was not rude to her. “There’s no need to be suspicious. You should all focus.”
Another female warrior added her voice, seeming afraid of losing their Luna to betrayal once more.
“Luna, we don’t want history to repeat itself. Your sister is clingy to our Alpha. We don’t like her.”
Valerie was getting annoyed, and her voice grew stern. “Ashley is nothing like Scarlet. You are reading her actions wrongly, and Denzel is not someone who can easily be swayed.”
Shame covered the faces of the warriors inciting her to cause trouble, but Valerie continued training as if those warriors had not appeared to persuade her to cause trouble.
However, Burke was concerned and approached her midway. “Luna, this is not my business, but Alpha and your sister left for quite a long time. Can you go check on them?”
His expression was unreadable as Valerie stared at him. As the beta, she was quite disappointed to hear this from him.
It was as if he did not know his Alpha. “Burke, Denzel is not a baby. Besides, I’m the Luna with an Alpha wolf. Unless he wants to be kicked out of his own pack, he would not dare to cause me any embarrassment.”
Burke stiffened slightly before a faint smile stretched his lips. Valerie’s discovery of knowing who she was must be the last piece of the puzzle, and he was certain that nothing or no one was capable of intimidating her.
Unknown to Valerie, everything said was being recorded by Burke as he smiled faintly and sent the recording to Alpha Denzel.
No one dared to speak about Alpha Denzel and Ashley or incite Valerie to cause trouble anymore.
When training was over, Denzel and Ashley had still not returned, but Valerie was least disturbed. The responses she gave to everyone who tried to remind her about Denzel and Ashley improved her level of trust for them.
Valerie invited Raven and Ray over to the pack house again. Raven sat on a kitchen stool, learning from Valerie as they hardly cooked a good meal at the rogue community.
Alice was helping Valerie as Burke used Ray’s help to supervise the maids in organizing the rooms for the guests.
From tomorrow, the pack was going to be very busy with all the preparations as the things ordered would begin to arrive.
Valerie went to get her father when food was ready, and as she descended the stairs with her dad, Ashley entered with Denzel. Both of them were still holding hands as they walked around and sat next to each other at the dining table.
Alpha Lawn had a panicked and disdainful look in her eyes as he saw Denzel with Ashley.
Unable to hide his displeasure, he spoke audibly. “Val, I don’t like what I’m seeing. You have every right to be upset,” the old Alpha said, as he stared intensely at Valerie, inciting her to speak up.
