Chapter 355: Chapter 355 – Fire and Water
“Get out of my head,” Valerie responded to the voice, but nobody could hear her except Orion.
A Mindlink could only be between pack members, and Orion was not a pack member, so Valerie could not deem it so.
Also, he was trying to take control of her mind, but she wondered exactly what he wanted to achieve with that.
Whatever powers Orion had must be so strong but were still no match for an Alpha wolf with special powers.
“Alpha Val, you are a very beautiful and strong woman. We have a lot in common and can control the world together. Just say I’m in aloud. No one would understand, but our powers would join together.”
Valerie could feel an annoying headache accompanying every word that proceeded from his mouth, as if something was piercing through her mind.
It was even trying to control the words that would come out of her mouth, but she could also feel Astrid trying to resist this mind attack.
If Orion succeeded, there was no doubt he could be able to control Valerie like a puppet. “You better stop trying the mind-controlling game. It won’t work,” Valerie said aloud, all attention turned to her.
Nevertheless, with her glare on Orion, they partly understood who she was referring to but could not understand what she meant by it all.
Caught, shame covered his face, and the connection broke because of the great resistance.
“Val, eat something.” Ashley dished out food for Valerie, but she did not have the appetite. Ashley herself had not eaten but was more concerned for Valerie.
The latter refused politely. “I won’t eat until they return.”
How could she eat when she hadn’t done any work? Those who did all the work must be hungry and tired now.
Still, she was glad to have stayed behind. If not, Orion could have used the same trick he used on her on somebody else, and end up creating a problem or even taking over the pack.
The emcee and the Alpha King continuously came up with interesting activities to entertain the guests and take their minds off the wait.

Everyone knew that once Alpha Denzel started something, he would end it the same day.
Tristan could not tell where his faith laid as Scarlet turned out to be something else.
She was still on the floor whereas everyone else ate and drank as if she did not exist.
When mealtime was over, the DJ released a selection of songs that caught their interest. Most people began to dance with their partners, and the unmated werewolves and she-wolves danced with each other.
It was late, but no one was eager to leave, waiting to hear the outcome of Luna Alma. Valerie had been silent with the information she had, and aside from supervision, she was indeed not enjoying her own coronation reception.
Luna Fernanda and Alessia stood by Valerie. She had all the support in the world this time, and though some of the Alphas wanted the opportunity to attack the pack, none of them dared to do so with such a strong network.
‘Alpha Val, I can hear the sound of a helicopter from a distance,’ a Mindlink flooded Valerie’s mind from the gate for the first time since her coronation.
A direct Mindlink from a pack member at a time like this was divine. Before she could respond to the Mindlink, a heavy engine sound was heard, and Valerie murmured.
“They are here.”
She rushed outside when it landed and saw her father carrying her mother, covered in herbs. “Oh goddess, what happened?” A flood of emotions was swaying her here and there.
Valerie did not know whether to be happy her mother was found or be saddened by her condition.
It was a blend of emotions squeezing her heart.
“Long story. Alice is unconscious,” Alpha Denzel hugged her and said. He missed her so much, and for a moment when he felt trapped in that well with Alma, he thought he would never see her again.
It was just good that Godic had anchored the rope to the landing skid, which forcefully pulled them up when the chopper went up.
“I can help her,” Valerie said. Alpha Denzel was slightly skeptical. “Are you sure? She overused her powers and might need days of sleep.”
Valerie knew she got this. If she had the powers from the lake, which was water, and Alice had powers that caused burns, then that was fire.
“No,” Valerie said and stared at the frail woman in Alpha Denzel’s arms. “Hold her tight,” she instructed.
Alpha Denzel obeyed, and Valerie’s pupil changed into the shape of a raindrop. The clouds gathered, and the rain poured, only on Alpha Denzel and Alice.
A strong cough escaped Alice as if she was choking on the water and she tried to free herself with force.
Valerie’s eyes returned to normal, and the rain stopped. Denzel grabbed hold of Alice tightly and watched her skin return to its former glow, looking as perfect as before.
“How is that possible?” Denzel asked, confused. This was great news, meaning that Valerie could find a way for Alice to use her powers without getting burned.
Valerie smiled, glad to have followed her instinct. What she did not know was if she could help her mother to recover faster, but the fact that Alice was well lifted a heavy burden from her shoulders.
“We depend on each other. The water quenches the fire.”
Alice got back on her feet, wet from the water, and so was Alpha Denzel who had carried her before.
“Luna Valerie, Alpha Denzel, what happened?” Alice asked excitedly, filled with renewed strength. She had no idea of exactly how she got better, but everything that happened before remained fresh in her mind.
“We shall talk about it later. You all look famished. Have you not eaten?” Valerie asked worriedly. Alpha Denzel shook his head, having no appetite for food.
“Two people were unconscious, so there was no time. Raven left with your mom and dad, so we can get the maids to serve her there. Let’s finish up here.”
Surely, Raven and Alpha Lawn would not be able to return for the reception, but Alpha Denzel had to end things.
Though he wore casual clothes, he could not bother changing into formal attire. Valerie nodded her head in agreement.
“It’s time to bring justice to the victims.”
She suddenly recalled something and alerted Alpha Denzel. “Orion tried to get into my mind.”
The expression on Alpha Denzel’s face, could burn the sea.
