“We need to talk,” Alpha Idris said seriously, expecting her to come up with an excuse he was certain not to accept. However, Ashley surprised him by opening her door wider and inviting him in.

He had every right to be there and there was no need for her to be ashamed of having her mate in her room.

“Please, feel free to sit on the bed,” Ashley urged him on. “We are mates, after all.” She felt a sense of obligation to her mate, but her mind was clouded with worry.

Alpha Denzel had informed her that her mother was not in good condition, but she was yet to fully grasp the seriousness of the situation, mentally preparing herself for the inevitable.

Alpha Idris did not expect her to make it so easy for him, but he appreciated her straightforwardness. He also understood the turmoil she was going through and felt the need to come to an agreement with her.

“I’m willing to stay until you are ready to leave with me, but we can’t be in separate rooms. The bond is…” Ashley’s lips silenced him before he could finish his sentence, and he felt a surge of excitement as he savored her scent.

The kiss was passionate but did not last long before she pulled away.

Hours later, most of the guests were awake, freshened up, and ready to depart.

The catering company had prepared breakfast packages for them due to their long journeys.

Those who wanted it also had lunch included. Denzel, Valerie, Burke, Dorothy, and Gandolf were busy ensuring that the guests’ last moments at the pack house were enjoyable.

Alessia and Godic supervised the pack’s security during this time, ensuring everything was flawlessly executed.

Adira and Troy were among the last to leave, while Sparta and Fernanda decided to stay behind to visit Luna Alma, as they were friends with her.

Alpha Lawn had remained in his room until noon when Raven, unable to wait any longer, knocked on his door to apply the herbs on Luna Alma, following Denzel’s instructions.

“I was just about to call you,” Alpha Lawn said as he opened the door, and Raven smiled.

“Is Luna Alma awake?” she asked politely, and Alpha Lawn nodded in affirmation, much to her relief.

“Yes, and she’s very hungry.”

Raven was thrilled that the herbs had worked on the middle-aged woman, as was Alpha Lawn. Everyone who heard the news shared in the excitement.

“I’ve already prepared her breakfast,” Valerie said and hurried to the kitchen. When she brought the food, Alpha Lawn closed the door and met her at the entrance, causing a frown to appear on her face.

“Could you please wait here? She’s going through trauma and can’t handle seeing too many faces,” Alpha Lawn explained his unexpected request, adding, “She’s used to Raven for now.”

“I understand,” Valerie forced a smile and agreed. The most important thing was for her mother to recover.

When Raven entered, she greeted Luna Alma politely, who was looking better than before. The moon grass had worked its magic, and Raven was certain that Luna Alma’s wolf was awake, even if they hadn’t communicated yet.

“Mom, how are you feeling today?”

Luna Alma was taken aback, not recognizing the face from the previous day. “Are you my child?” she asked, unable to recall the familiar face.

Raven shook her head. “No, I am a member of the Evergreen pack. I came to help you with herbs to awaken your wolf and aid in your healing.”

She couldn’t directly ask if Luna Alma’s wolf was awake, as it might come off as disrespectful.

Satisfied with the response she received, she continued, “My wolf has been asleep for so long, but she woke me up this morning.”

Raven smiled as Alpha Lawn attended to Luna Alma. She looked like Valerie, but due to her recent struggles, she wasn’t in the best condition.

Her hair was unkempt, but Raven knew that with a few days of care, Luna Alma would improve, and a little beauty treatment would restore her youthfulness.

Compared to Luna Fernanda, Luna Alma appeared thirty years older, despite being in the same age bracket.

“This is warm. Valerie made it herself,” Alpha Lawn fed the congee to her. After a few spoonfuls, Luna Alma’s eyes lit up with hope.

“Valerie? My daughter? My little Val? What about Ash? Has she stopped stealing sweets?” Her mind was still focused on the past when her daughters were young.

Alpha Lawn chuckled sadly, remembering how Ashley couldn’t resist sweets and would sneak them if denied. “Alma, both of your daughters are grown now. Should I call them?”

Luna Alma felt self-conscious about her appearance and the scent of the herbs. She didn’t want her daughters to see her in that state.

“No, not like this. Is Scarlet there too?” she inquired, and Alpha Lawn hesitated, unsure of how to respond.
