Chapter 378: Chapter 378 – Moment of truth
Ashley had resigned herself to the fact that she had lost her chance of gaining her sister and brother-in-law’s support, but Valerie remembered that Denzel had dealt with a similar situation before.

It was when Alpha Conrad had kidnapped a human girl to manipulate one of the pack members.

“Don’t worry. We can wipe their memories afterward,” Valerie assured her. She couldn’t go alone since Denzel knew Vegas better than she did.

Also, if they sent Godic to retrieve the girls, it might take longer as he would have to move around with a car and chopper.

Valerie could reach Vegas in less than a minute, but locating the houses on the list and convincing the girls might take longer.

“Denzel would be able to find their addresses faster,” Valerie said, forcing a smile.

Situations like this always arose, especially when the Luna was from a different pack. She-wolves from the Alpha’s pack would often try to make things difficult.

“We will be back soon, and nobody moves. I suggest you get chairs because this matter must end today,” Denzel said in an Alpha tone. Mahira’s girls shivered, but she remained resolute.

“I will get a chair,” she said after Alpha Denzel and Luna Valerie left the same way they had arrived. But before she could get the chair, Alpha Idris stopped her.

“You are not going anywhere. Warriors, get chairs for everybody.”

He would be damned before he allowed Mahira to escape after embarrassing his mate. If it turned out that Ashley was indeed innocent, he would enjoy doing as Mahira herself had proposed.

The warriors brought chairs for everybody, and they all sat except Ashley and Idris. He embraced her and said seriously, “No matter how everything turns out, I will never allow anything to happen to you.”

Certainty resonated in his voice as he spoke.

It hadn’t been an hour, and some people were already yawning from boredom when the sound of raindrops caught their attention.

They sat up nervously, and this time it wasn’t just Alpha Denzel and Luna Valerie who appeared. A group of girls and two men accompanied them.

Everyone was stunned, realizing that the Alpha and Luna of the Evergreen pack were now imbued with a special and unique power.

It would be impossible for any pack or rogue to defeat them. One of the men accompanying them quickly rushed to Ashley’s side.

Ashley pulled away from Alpha Idris, and the two embraced each other. Jealousy gnawed at Alpha Idris’s heart, but he soon relaxed as the conversation unfolded.

“Albert, what are you doing here?” Ashley asked in shock.

“Don said you needed help. After what you did for my wife, I insisted on coming with her just to see you. What is this place called? I don’t even know how we got here.”

All he remembered was joining a group hug with Don and his wife.

“Don’t worry. It’s enough that you are all here.”

As Ashley spoke, a group of girls and another man swarmed around her, hugging her in a group hug.

“Ash, you never said goodbye, and I could never reach you on the phone,” one of them said after pulling away.

Ashley felt slightly guilty as she sighed. “It’s a long story. Warriors, bring them chairs and some drinks and snacks too. They must be hungry.”

“No, we are not. We are more concerned about why you are here,” one of the girls said, beaming with excitement at seeing her heroine once more.

She was Albert’s wife.

Albert’s curious gaze roamed around the unfamiliar faces until it finally settled on a familiar one.

“Mahira,” he said and walked up to the girl who had a cold glare on her face. “What are you doing here?”

Ashley was surprised that they knew each other but did not stop Albert from speaking with Mahira.

“Albert, it’s good that you are here. Remember the woman who sold your wife into prostitution and killed the girls who refused to do her bidding? That is Ashley. And here you are, all over her, the despicable woman.”

The smile froze on the faces of the girls, including Albert. “How on earth did you get such information?”

“I saw her on the day we escaped. She was happily servicing two men.”

Disgust filled the eyes of the people present as they began to look at Ashley differently, but Valerie’s eyes were filled with painful tears.

Albert smiled bitterly. “What you saw was correct, but that was not the whole story. Ashley took the place of my wife that day, and to make it real, she had to do what she did to get those men to trust her. Only then did they allow their bodyguards to leave before she got the chance to kill them.”

Mahira felt awkward. “What are you talking about?”

“Mahira, you should not have jumped to conclusions because of that,” Albert said with a pained expression.

Mahira shook her head. How could things turn against her? “Impossible. It was her. Don Calvin confirmed it.”

Albert scoffed. “Don Calvin? Of course, he would say anything against her because she killed his two sons. They were raping underage girls and forcing them to do all manner of disgusting things. I wish I could kill him myself, but his protection is great.”

“Someone should explain this whole thing from the beginning,” Alpha Denzel’s voice cut in.

Ashley smiled bitterly. Her girls sat around her as she began to narrate everything from the end to the beginning.

“Val, do you remember the time you called me, and the line died?” Ashley asked. Valerie nodded.

“Yes, I remember. That was when Alessia brought me a phone after I had stayed for almost a month at the Evergreen pack,” Valerie recalled.

Alpha Denzel realized that just as he suspected then that she might contact someone with the phone, she indeed did so. He was just glad it was Ashley.

“Your call was what stopped me from going after Don Calvin. I felt that the pack needed me, so I decided to come and help you. Then I could go back to deal with him, but when I saw Dad, my priorities changed.”

Mahira was beginning to get uncomfortable, as were her girls. Valerie asked Ashley, “Now we want to hear everything from the beginning.”
