Ashley rubbed her temple. “I have a headache. Can I have some water?” Idris quickly poured her a glass of water and fed it to her before saying,

“Valerie said you would sleep it off, but how are you feeling now?”

Ashley forced a smile, remembering everything clearly. She felt a slight discomfort, which could be attributed to the new waves of power swimming through her veins.

“I feel so funny, but after drinking the water, I kind of feel better.”

Alpha Idris was glad but still had a major concern, asking seriously. “Are you sure you don’t remember me?” It was difficult to accept that she couldn’t, but Ashley smiled at him.

“Did you believe that?”

A chuckle escaped him as he nudged her. “You silly girl. You scared the hell out of me.”

Ashley laughed, finding her frustration amusing. “I loved the look on your face when I said it.”

“So can you try using your power?” Idris asked curiously, determined to know how it works.

Ashley stared at the drinking glass, and it was instantly filled with water. Alpha Idris picked it up, but pouring it out, the water suspended in the air.

He wondered what could be done with suspended water. This did not seem interesting to him, so he asked directly.

“Is that all? You can’t use that to help anyone.”

Ashley smiled, and the next moment, Idris was suffocating. It was as if the water was rushing down his lungs, and the very air he was breathing was being denied to him.

Unexpectedly, the air began to fill his lungs once again when he thought all was lost, and Ashley would not know that she was hurting him.

Panting, he asked her. “What the hell is that?”

Ashley chuckled. “Did you not ask about the effectiveness of my powers?” It felt good to use this kind of power on her stronger opponent, but then, what if she received the powers in exchange for her wolf.

She quickly communicated with her wolf, Lilian. ‘Are you there?’

‘I won’t die yet,’ came the quick response, her excitement increased. Her wolf was not affected, and she got special powers as a gift from her junior sister.

She had to call Valerie to thank her, but it was already late. Excitement flung Idris upon confirming this.

“This is amazing, and it would be good if you could do it to a lot of people at once.” He imagined Ashley using these powers in a time of war against many enemies.

Alpha Idris was lost for words. Being on Denzel’s team was the best thing that happened in his life.

“I will practice that later, but now, I want to shower,” Ashley said nervously.

Back at the Evergreen pack, Idris would be out of the room before she woke up, so it was easy for her to go shower, but now, she suddenly felt shy when it was just the two of them.

Idris knew she was still avoiding him but could not allow this to go on. Her past must have been terrible, but it was time to let it go and embrace a wonderful future together.

“Ashley, we need to talk.”

Ashley guessed it was about the mating thing and was even nervous. After what she faced the last time with those brothers, she had decided never to let any man in, but her mate found her, and that was her destiny.

“Is it about the confession? I honestly wanted to tell you, but…” Alpha Idris cut in before she could complete her sentence.

“Look, don’t think that I will ever judge you based on whatever happened in your past. I have my rotten skeletons too, and what matters is the future ahead of us.”

Ashley remembered that the first time they shared a room, he had told her about the kind of life he lived before Denzel put him in order, but that was not Ashley’s worry.

She thought for a while and spoke honestly. “Thank you, but sex is painful.”

Alpha Idris shook his head. He was a master of that with tons of experience. “No, it isn’t. It’s because you gave it out unwillingly. It was your first time too,” he pointed out. Ashley was still not convinced, asking,

“Can you give me time?”
