Chapter 383: Chapter 383 – It Depends on the Kind of Gift
The day before, Alpha Denzel was all smiles when he received Alpha Ludwig’s report from Burke.

Ludwig had put the report together, stating how preparing the comprehensive report had opened his eyes to the things he was doing wrong as a leader and had already put measures in place to improve.

It was clear that he had not allowed his beta to do it, or else he would not have seen those red flags. The suggested measures were equally good, so Alpha Denzel sent him training videos as well to help him improve in that area.

However, there was another note attached to the report which read,

‘Alpha Denzel, tomorrow is Raven’s birthday and I have a gift prepared, but I need your permission to give it to her. It’s an old Jade necklace my mother gave me, and since I’m very busy now with the various changes in the pack, I would just like to spend a few minutes at your pack to give it to her.’

Alpha Denzel thought it wise to discuss something like this with his Luna, and thankfully, she was with him at the office.

“Val, have I told you that Raven is Alpha Ludwig’s mate?”

Valerie’s brows raised with surprise. “I’m just hearing it,” she said honestly, thinking it was a wonderful pair if Ludwig changed for the better.

It was understandable that adjusting to the position and title of an Alpha was not easy for him, but Denzel had always tried his best to help.

Remorse laced Alpha Denzel’s tone. “I’m very sorry about that. There has been too much pressure, being the cause of the oversight.” He really meant to tell her, but how could he not forget when trouble kept knocking on his door every now and then?

Valerie was not surprised, as Denzel was not a god. He had his human side, and the past week had been overwhelming.

“I’m not blaming you. I understand how the pressure is, but I can’t help feeling selfish. I’m going to miss Raven a lot, but the Black Fur pack has its shortcomings too.”

Alpha Denzel agreed, having thought of all that.

“Yeah, that’s why I assigned Burke to be reporting on their activities, and there is a considerable improvement. If they keep it up, I will go visit them with Raven in the next six months to get her opinion,” Alpha Denzel revealed. Valerie was impressed.

Alpha Denzel would not just throw Raven away because the Moon goddess paired her with Alpha Ludwig.

“You sound like a father, but that’s exactly what you are: The father of the pack, and you take good care of everyone.”

Alpha Denzel could not accept the compliment because he felt he hadn’t reached the target he set for himself.

After putting Godic in charge of his businesses in Vegas, he wanted to devote time to training and bringing out more geniuses, but mostly, problems would steal him away from the pack, not allowing him to achieve all that.

“I’m trying my best, just as you are also doing your part. Thanks a lot for spending a lot of time at the Omega’s community to ensure the changes are all effected.”

Valerie’s presence did a lot to hasten the project as the Luna. The contractors mostly worked overtime whenever she discovered a mistake or something new.

Alpha Denzel was certain that by the time they would be done with the omega’s community, even the normal pack members would want to relocate there.

With time, he planned to redevelop the pack as well. Every time he traveled to Vegas and saw something that would be good for the pack, he always tried his best to get it there.

“As your Luna, I will be nothing if I don’t do that,” Valerie shrugged.

Being a Luna was not just about titles but caring for the well-being of one’s pack members.

Alpha Denzel was happy and satisfied to have her and went ahead to ask directly. “Do you think it’s a good idea for Ludwig to send a gift for Raven?”

Valerie massaged her temple. With the party being a surprise, she ceased inviting Raven to the pack house to take care of it. Tomorrow was the D-day, and everything was ready.

“It depends on the kind of gift,” she mused. Alpha Denzel explained it all.

“He said it’s his mother’s old Jade necklace, and he wants to bring it himself.”

Valerie could not fight against what the Moon goddess had joined together, but due to her experience from how Alice was neglected at the Black Fur pack even as their protection depended on her, it made her reluctant.

“If he is trustworthy, then I don’t see anything wrong.”

Alpha Denzel smiled in understanding. Trustworthy was the right word to use indeed.

“Well, I’m still testing him, and if he messes up this time, I won’t hesitate to kill him.” That would be the only way to free Raven from that bond, before she even comes to know about it.

“If that be the case, then you can allow him to come,” Valerie said, prepared to also keep an eye on Ludwig this time around.

Having his Luna’s confirmation, Alpha Denzel allowed Alpha Ludwig to bring his gift.

The next day, Valerie and Alice went to Raven and Ray’s house after everything was ready and knocked on the door.

Ray was the one who answered the door and quickly let them in since it was not the first time.

“Where is your twin sister?” Valerie asked as she looked around.

“In the kitchen. I will get her.” Ray went to the kitchen to get Raven.

As soon as Raven returned with Ray, they were amazed to find glitter papers in the air.

“Happy birthday, Raven and Ray,” Valerie and Alice screamed from excitement. Raven and Ray were both shedding joyful tears.

No one had ever made a big deal of their birthday before. “Thank you, thank you,” they kept saying, missing their parents, as Valerie smiled at them.

“Don’t thank us. We have a surprise for you at the pack house. You guys should go dress up and come back.”

The twins went to their separate rooms and returned looking dazzling. They went to the pack house blindfolded, and when the blindfold was removed, they were crying from joy.
