The maid began to understand the reason for her torture, and it angered her greatly.

“You never mentioned it was going to kill her. You said it was just to teach her a lesson,” she yelled. Valerie signaled for her to calm down.

Which Aurora were they talking about? As the matter stood now, this voice did not sound like hers.

“You make sure she’s dead,” the female voice said coldly. Godic knew he had heard the voice before but could not remember where or the face.

“What?” The maid was shocked, but Valerie signaled for her to play along, and she asked, “What about my payment?”

“I already told you that I can’t do transfers. You have to meet me for it,” the woman at the end of the line replied. The maid saw it as the perfect opportunity to let her boss get her so she could pay for her wickedness.

“Give me the place and time, or I’ll expose you.”

At this moment, she no longer felt the pains from the torture but only the emotional one. The woman on the phone did not seem perturbed about her threat and responded in a nonchalant tone.

“Even if you confess, they won’t be able to find me. But because I want her dead, come for the balance.”

“Okay, but send me the location,” the maid replied. The woman at the end of the line was also cautious, saying,

“But if she doesn’t die within twenty-four hours, you would die in her place, and so would your child.”

Both Godic and Alessia were just realizing that the maid’s child had been used as the bait to get her to do what the woman on the line wanted.

“I won’t disappoint you,” she said before ending the call. The phone beeped shortly after when she was about to speak.

It was the venue where the maid was supposed to meet the said woman.

“Where did she keep your daughter?” Godic asked, his anger reducing as he began to feel pity for the maid.

Now he wondered how Alpha Denzel was able to keep his mind straight when he watched Valerie’s abuse on that fateful day.

Godic knew he had to learn how to control his emotions better to be the best at what he does.

However, whoever caused him to lose his unborn child would never live to tell the story.

“I don’t know where she kept her. I only spoke to my daughter on the line a few times after she was kidnapped,” she cried. Godic was upset.

“Why did you not come to me?”

He would have found a way to rescue the child, and his unborn child would not have suffered such injustice.

“She said she would kill my child if I ever told anyone about it. That was why I could not confess it. I’m really sorry,” she said in a remorseful tone.

Looking at her, she was already a sad sight, and Alessia felt pity for her, despite the loss of her own child.

“What do we do now?” Alessia asked, knowing the situation was more complicated than before.

“Can you let her bring the child along?” Godic asked. The maid’s eyes lit with hope as she suggested,

“Do you mind if I send her a text message to that effect?”

Godic stared at the bodyguard holding the phone, and it was immediately given to her. ‘Please bring my daughter along, or the last part would not be done.’

A response followed in the next few seconds. ‘I will only give you the money, but you will get back your daughter after showing proof that Alessia is dead.’

When she showed the response to them, they only wished they knew the reason this woman was after Alessia.

“Go dress up and put on makeup. If you want your child saved, then you have to do as we tell you. Do you understand?” Godic asked seriously. She nodded her head eagerly.

When she finished dressing up and had put on makeup, there were no traces of torture. She wore jean pants and a long-sleeve blouse.

“When you get there, she should not know that you are involved. Just discuss the money, take it and leave. We shall watch her closely and get her when she tries to leave,” Godic explained his plan.

Valerie was only there to guide him into not making a mistake but seeking justice for Alessia. So she asked him, “Why do you want it so? We could get her right there and then.”

“If she has others working for her, they could hurt Lindsay’s child and use her as a bait to get to free Aurora.”

He did not want the maid to know that he was in doubt about the said Aurora’s identity, and Valerie was glad he was beginning to use his head instead of his heart.

“Good plan, but who takes care of Alessia?”

“I’m coming with you,” Alessia said, lifting herself to a sitting position. If she were at the pack, she could have healed already, but it was not the same for the human world.

“No, Aless, you just had a miscarriage and should rest,” Valerie cautioned in a soft tone, but Alessia was adamant.

“I would be more worried if you leave without me. I will stay in the car with a bodyguard, and the rest of you can do what you want to do,” she said. Valerie gave up.

“You do as you have said and not try to be a hero. I want you to heal fast to get pregnant again.”

Alessia let out a sad smile. “Alright.”

After that agreement, they left together. Valerie and Godic sent Lindsay in but were hiding behind the shadows, as Alessia remained in the car with a bodyguard.

Lindsay forced a smile and went to sit in front of the said woman, and indeed, the person they saw resembled Aurora.

However, when they listened to the conversation through the secret speakers they put on her, the voice was different. So how could this be?

“I have a plan,” Valerie said with determination.
