Joyful tears fell from Alice’s eyes upon learning that Burke had gotten a new haircut because of her. He rocked it too, but her greatest joy was the fact that he was her mate.

“Alice,” Burke pulled away to admire the dress on her. With his back turned earlier, he missed the opportunity to see the dress well, like he was doing now.

The moment he saw it, he knew it would look good on her and quickly purchased it.

From now onwards, she was going to be his responsibility, and he planned to buy her even more beautiful things, though Alpha Denzel and Luna Valerie had already bought her a lot of them.

Earlier, when he arrived from the assignment his Alpha gave him, he was glad that Alpha Denzel had taken Alice out to help her with her wolf, and that she would not see him.

Since he already had plans with Raven, he quickly mindlinked her to meet up with him and gave her the dress to be given to Alice.

Raven thought it was just a birthday gift, unaware that Burke and Alice were mates.

“You look beautiful,” Burke said honestly, gazing into her blue eyes. Alice’s rare condition of hazel and blue eyes was gone, and now only the blue was seen.

Everyone had gotten so used to it that most people did not even notice the change, but Burke did. His arms wrapped around her again.

“And you look handsome,” Alice replied, knowing Burke was five years older. It meant that he must have felt the mate bond then, so she asked curiously.

“So, have you known all along that we were mates?”

Burke nodded. “You have no idea how I always waited for this day, Alice. The moment I set eyes on you, you were mine, but I had to wait until your wolf awakened.”

Alice was excited, feeling all her fears die with his soft words. It was her all the time, the only woman in Burke’s life, just as she wanted.

How blessed she was to have found her mate in the Evergreen pack. Sometimes, she feared finding her mate in another pack and having to leave, but that did not happen.

“I’m glad it’s you. I really am.” She looked so cute when she spoke like that, and Burke noticed a lot of childishness in her, which he knew would be broken through mating and marking.

His lips met with hers like he had practiced doing a few days before now, and the feeling was better than he imagined his first time to be.

No wonder warriors who found their mates never got enough of them. Burke was eager to have a taste of his mate after living with her under the same roof for so long.

Now he understood why Alpha Denzel refused to have him share a room with Alice when she moved in.

Being his first time, he wanted to give her the best and did not want any setbacks. He removed his blazer and covered her shoulders with it.

“It’s getting cold. Please have a seat.” He pulled a chair for her, and Alice sat, but her gaze was pinned on him.

Burke was worried about the sudden change in the weather, wondering what in the pack’s name was going on.

Having heard about weather changes when a great person was to be born in a pack, he was tempted to think that his Luna was in labor, but per the schedule, she still had a month to go.

Alice’s attention was completely different from that of Burke, focusing on everything in front of her.

The weather was the last thing on her mind when she had the only man she loved in front of her.

A few things were beginning to make sense to her, like how Luna Valerie told her a white lie, making her ask.

“Does Alpha Denzel and Luna Valerie know that we are mates? I’m asking because Luna Valerie said you were going to be back in a few days.”

Burke chuckled as he poured a glass of wine for her. “Yeah, they sure do.” Alpha Denzel and Luna Valerie had equally helped him to plan this surprise.

Alice smiled shyly. “So, she was teasing me all along.” Her cheeks pinked with her words. Burke felt like the luckiest beta in the world.

The likes of Alice were mostly mated to Alphas because of their unique powers, but he, a beta, happened to have such a great woman as a mate and could not keep his happiness in check.

In fact, he had to quickly mark her before anything went wrong. He had begun to uncover the dishes when the snow suddenly began to set in.

His teeth gritted together as he rendered an apology to the thrilled Alice, who did not seem to care even a bit about the snow.

“Sorry we have to leave for the pack house,” Burke said apologetically, before he mindlinked a few warriors to help him move the items to his room.

Alice was disappointed because this was very romantic. However, she understood that the weather was not being fair, and she had to agree with Burke to move everything elsewhere.

Rising to her feet, she was amazed to be swept into Burke’s arms like he had seen his Alpha doing a lot of times.

If anyone wanted to learn how to be both tough and romantic, the right person for that training was Alpha Denzel himself.

This was the first time she entered Burke’s room, though he entered hers a couple of times and would have been surprised to see her pictures there if he had not told her that he knew it all along.

No wonder he never allowed her in here, as it would have created a lot of suspicions in Alice’s mind.

Dinner was moved in there, and the snowstorm was quite heavy. The Evergreen pack was known for tsunamis, so snowstorms were rare, but they still prepared for it and were not troubled by its invasion.

In times like this, everyone was indoors, as no one would try an attack under such conditions. Burke dropped Alice gently on the bed, and as soon as the warriors helping him left, he asked her a question that caused everything in her to freeze.
