Chapter 429: Chapter 249 – Luna Valerie? I hope she’s alright
Burke felt stupid right after asking the question. “Do you mind if we mate first?”
Just like him, Alice was equally naive in such matters and would take time to adjust, so he quickly changed the topic of discussion.
“Sorry. I mean, how did your training go?” He asked. Alice regained her composure from the earlier discomfort caused by his question, did not expose him, and answered.
“I can use my powers without getting burned.”
Burke was dazed but very happy about it. This was unbelievable but also the best news he had heard in a long time. “You don’t mean it.”
He couldn’t forget how Alpha Denzel tried every possible means to resolve this issue, including their Luna passing out because of using her powers to heal Alice from the burns when she was not supposed to do so.
“I do, and my wolf’s name is Aliya,” Alice announced excitedly. Burke was over the moon as he carried her to the chair and began to uncover the dishes.
Each dish was carefully picked from the ones he had seen her enjoy during breakfast, lunch, or dinner. From that aspect, he knew her very well.
“I’m so proud of you,” he said with amazement, his gaze fixed on her. Alice suddenly became shy, lowered her head, and took solace in the appetizer before her.
The moment she took a bite of the appetizers, her excitement gave way. “Burke, this is so good, just like the ones Luna Valerie makes.”
Alice knew that Alpha Denzel never allowed Luna Valerie to cook alone ever since she went far into her pregnancy, so how could Burke have made something like this?
“Would you be surprised if I told you that she made it because it was your birthday?”
Happy tears formed in the corner of Alice’s eyes, but she did not wipe them as she thought about Luna Valerie and Alpha Denzel.
They gave her all the love she had lost for years since her parents died. “I can’t believe Alpha Denzel allowed it in her condition.”
Burke showed her a video from his phone. “Well, Raven said that he helped her to make it.”

Alice cried even more from appreciation and wondered if Luna Valerie had gone to cook after she left her alone at the party.
From the dress she wore, it seemed so, and Alpha Denzel was patiently waiting for her, doing every little thing that did not require expertise.
“Before meeting Alpha Denzel and Luna Valerie, I heard a lot of scary things about Alpha Denzel. I realized they were true, but he did all those things with very good intentions,” Alice recalled.
“As for Luna Valerie, I have always loved her from the moment I heard her name, and seeing her in person, I loved her even more. My instincts were right when I wanted to join this pack. The moon goddess gave me back my family through them.”
Alice was very emotional, and Burke wiped her tears with his thumb.
He was equally amazed when Luna Valerie insisted on helping with his surprise in the area of cooking and was highly grateful for the favor shown to him, especially for the fact that Alice loved Valerie’s cooking better than anybody else’s.
Unlike other Alphas and Lunas, Alpha Denzel and Luna Valerie gained loyalty from pack members due to the love they gave.
“Well, Alpha Denzel was very hard to understand in the beginning because he never talked much, never explained much, until he brought Luna Valerie.”
“That night, he did not allow anyone to touch her when he carried her out of the car himself to the cottage. It was strange to me how he was so worried about a person he claimed to hate.”
“It was later revealed that he pretended to hate her, but even then, the changes were visible. He began to spend more time at the pack and talked more, explained more. That was how we began to understand and fall deeper in love with him. He was so complicated,” Burke explained. Alice smiled.
“I understand now the power of the mate bond, and I hope that Raven soon finds her mate.”
Raven was her best friend, so she wished for Raven to have the happiness she had found in her mate.
Burke was instantly saddened, and Raven noticed it. “You don’t want her to find her mate?” Her expression was unreadable as she asked. Burke forced a smile.
“I already know who her mate is, and that’s what makes me sad.”
Raven was selfless, so it pained Burke that she was going to leave soon. Alice was confused.
“She has a mate? How did you know?”
Burke did not hide it from her since they were mates. “Well, I don’t have proof, but why would Alpha Ludwig travel all the way here just to attend her seventeenth birthday party and also gift her a jade necklace?”
Alpha Ludwig never did that for anybody else, not even Alice, who had used her powers to protect his pack.
Even on Alice’s birthday and now, he never showed up. Alice thought it through. The more she did, the more sense it made to her.
“No wonder Alpha Denzel sent her to visit the Black Fur Pack. Oh, this information has ruined my mood,” she said honestly, afraid of the distance that would come between them.
Burke had already thought about it and psyched himself up for the unavoidable changes that were about to happen.
“Well, pack members leave all the time due to the mate bond, so don’t worry yourself because of this.”
“You are right. I’m even a transfer member,” Alice recalled. “Who knows, Raven might find greater happiness at the Black Fur pack,” she agreed.
Burke was getting impatient when their romantic dinner turned into sweet gossip. “Well, can we stop talking about all that? I want to mark you already,” he purred. Alice giggled.
After this conversation, she felt much more comfortable around him, not seeming afraid of the mating process anymore.
Burke’s lips were about to meet hers when they were distracted by a scream. “Luna Valerie? I hope she’s alright,” Alice panicked and rushed out of the room.
