Chapter 440: Chapter 440 – Such an Asshole
A few minutes ago, Alpha Ludwig walked his mate, Raven, into their room.

Everything was great and better than she imagined it to be, but she was scared and nervous, withdrawing her hand from Alpha Ludwig.

It seemed that all her courage was derived from Alpha Denzel being around her, and now that she was alone with Ludwig with the doors closed behind her, reality began to hit home.

Things were never going to be the same again, and she would never get to sleep alone in her bed the way she liked.

She would constantly have to share her bed with not just anyone but someone of the opposite sex who was also the Alpha of the pack.

There was also the thought of having great responsibilities of the pack on her shoulders as well as satisfying the needs of an Alpha.

Ludwig felt a silent rejection in her action as he turned to face her. “You don’t want to bear my mark?”

He could wait for the mating until after the coronation, but he so badly wanted her to bear his mark.

Disappointment laced his voice, shining in his eyes. It was just too hard to ignore. Raven lowered her gaze, her heart thumping.

“I don’t feel ready,” she said in almost a whisper.

‘You fool. Why do you do that? This is our mate. You better take off your clothes or I will take over and rip them off you,’ her wolf bellowed in her ears, but for the first time, she shut the horny creature out of her mind.

Just this morning, she woke up feeling happy that it was her eighteenth birthday, and just in the evening, she was supposed to warm an Alpha’s bed, not knowing if she was going to enjoy it.

“It’s okay if you don’t feel ready,” Alpha Ludwig said, but his gaze had turned very dark. It was clear that he was battling his wolf.

At that moment, he looked so fierce, Raven was creating a distance between them, so he quickly walked out to not scare her any further.

‘You shouldn’t have left. You are such an asshole,’ his wolf cursed him. He retorted, ‘It’s your fault. You scared her.’

‘She would not have been scared if she had not shut her wolf out. I could not reach her,’ his wolf complained.

If Raven’s wolf was active, she would have made her bolder, but she had to shut out her animalistic side.

‘You have to understand that we can’t mark her tonight,’ Alpha Ludwig retorted. He was pacing here and there as he communicated with his wolf.

This night was meant to be special, as he had to make a formal introduction in the morning before Alpha Denzel’s departure.

If Raven had borne his mark, it would have strengthened the faith of the pack members in their relationship.

‘How will you control it with both of you sleeping in the same room?’ His wolf asked, but Alpha Ludwig already had a way around that.

‘I don’t intend to. I’m sleeping in one of the guest rooms because we already gave Alpha Denzel the Luna chamber.’

That room has always been used to host very important guests, but his wolf was not in sync with him.

‘I suggest you go back and try again.’

Alpha Ludwig was not in agreement with his wolf’s suggestion. As an Alpha, his words should carry power.

‘I’m an Alpha. I told her it’s fine, so it’s better we go for a run. Both of us will feel better.’

About to dash into the woods, Alpha Denzel appeared at the entrance of the door.

“Tell me, what happened?” he asked. Alpha Ludwig was quite nervous.

If he told Alpha Denzel, he feared sounding selfish, as someone like Alpha Denzel would advise him to be patient. After all, he was among one of the most self-disciplined Alphas who did not mate immediately after meeting his mate for the first time.

“She isn’t ready, so I wanted to go for a run and sleep in another room. It’s not a problem at all,” Alpha Ludwig forced a smile, but Alpha Denzel’s expression was stern.

“She’s not ready? What is that even supposed to mean? Did you try to touch her, or did you just discuss it?” He asked, feeling that the problem was partly from him.

Alpha Ludwig had to man up to his Luna, as it was clear how much he loved her. All he wanted was to make her happy, but that did not justify his not putting in much effort to mark her.

“We discussed it,” he said honestly. Alpha Denzel smiled, but it didn’t reach his eyes.

“If Raven does not give in before I leave, things would be tougher between you both. You better go in there and get it done because I want to see a mark before I leave tomorrow.”

He knew that if their bond was not sealed, Raven would never feel at home and would continuously distance herself from her mate.

“But…” Alpha Ludwig wanted to argue, to explain that it will feel forced, but Alpha Denzel already thought about it and elaborated further.

“Be gentle and caress her. You don’t have to give her the impression that you are going to mark her.”

After saying these, Alpha Denzel felt like he was growing old, though he was just nearing his early thirties.

So much responsibility and being a big brother to most of the young Alphas all increased his level of maturity by a hundred.

Alpha Ludwig was stunned, feeling as if he was being tested, so he did not move until Alpha Denzel asked him.

“What are you waiting for? Go now?”

Alpha Ludwig was at a loss, but his wolf was already excited. ‘Alpha Denzel is such a good Alpha. I’m liking him better than you.’

Ludwig pursed his lips and did not respond to his wolf. By the time he returned to their room, Raven was lying under the duvet with only a small portion of her hair showing.

He nervously went to have a quick shower and laid beside her, but as soon as he lifted the duvet, he froze.
