Chapter 448: Chapter 448 – The Strange Connection
“Denzel, what do we do? He won’t stop crying,” Valerie complained as she tried to soothe the bawling Denver.

He was struggling in her arms, stretching his arms towards Alice, who was packed and ready to leave for the Black Fur Pack.

Worry nudged her heart, and for a moment, she thought about waiting to leave together with Luna Valerie and Alpha Denzel tomorrow.

However, she made a promise to Raven that she was going to come on the night before, so how could she disappoint her best friend?

Also, she was curious to know all that had happened at the Black Fur Pack ever since her leaving.

Tomorrow was the day of the coronation, so she only had today to familiarize herself with her old pack once more.

“Give him to me.” Denzel took Denver from his mother, but the cries only worsened. The little man refused to calm down, and he wouldn’t eat as well.

Denzel and Valerie knew exactly why, but they couldn’t restrict Alice because of that. It would be too selfish of them.

Alice needed to have her life and even time with her mate, but Denver was uncontrollable. He was equally too young to be left on his own.

“Just go, Alice. He will calm down eventually,” Denzel said. Alice was disturbed and told Denver, “I will be back tomorrow.”

The pup did not seem to care about whatever anyone was saying, his bawling getting out of hand.

Alice mustered the courage and walked out of the door with Burke but suddenly fell into Burke’s arms by the time they reached the living room.

“Are you okay?” Burke asked worriedly, surprised by how the color had instantly drained out of her face.

“I feel the same unease I used to feel before. I haven’t felt it in a while, and I’m so dizzy too. Burke, I don’t think I can make it to the Black Fur Pack. Do you think that Raven will be mad at me?” Alice was so uneasy and in pain.

Ray, who had come to drive Alice to the Black Fur Pack, was disheartened seeing her like that. Denver’s cries could still be heard from Alpha Denzel’s and Luna Valerie’s room, making Alice guilty.

“I will explain to Raven. She won’t be mad at you, but let me see if I can get you some herbs.”

Alice knew it was going to delay the trip and did not want that. Taking care of Denver, she never felt this discomfort and was tempted to make a suggestion to Alpha Denzel and Luna Valerie, hoping they would agree to it.

“Wait. I will talk to Luna Valerie and Alpha Denzel first,” she said. Ray paused and turned to face her.

“Are you sure?” It was clear that she was not well, but only Burke could feel exactly what she was going through, and nobody else.

“I’m positive,” Alice said weakly. Burke carried her upstairs as Ray waited in the living room.

When they knocked on the door, Alpha Denzel was disturbed when he opened the door to see them in the midst of trying to calm Denver.

Alice was also so pale looking that it worried him. “What is wrong with her?”

Alice could not tell if it was the closeness, but strength began to return to her body, and she said to Burke, “It’s alright. You can put me down.”

“Are you sure?” Burke was skeptical because of how weak she was a moment ago, but she assured him.

“Yes. I’m better. Alpha, do you mind if I take Denver along? You and Luna are coming over tomorrow and could bring him some more breast milk.”

Alpha Denzel could not allow Denver to travel alone with Alice and Ray. He was an heir and could be prone to attacks.

Alice would end up using her powers to save him, and though with a golden wolf, who knows the kind of harm it could bring?

“I don’t think it’s a good idea, but why do you say so?”

Alice swallowed tightly but did not feel the need to keep what she was feeling from her Alpha and Luna.

“Alpha, Luna, it’s strange, but the moment I was separated from Denver, my discomfort kickstarted again.

“Oh,” Denzel said as he stared at Denver, who had stopped crying at the sight of Alice but still had tears in his eyes. His frail arms were stretched towards her once more, and she took him in her arms, kissing him gently on the forehead.

“What would I do without you, Denver. I feel fine now.”

Burke could not understand what was happening. He enjoyed all the time spent with Denver but had a feeling that this was more than the naked eyes could see.

“Alpha, why does she feel sick when away from Denver?”

Alpha Denzel and Luna Valerie exchanged glances before Alpha Denzel explained. “I think there is a connection between Denver and your pup. Until your pup is born, we just have to continue observing.”

Burke did not know what to think. Perhaps he would have to wait until, just as Alpha Denzel said. “So, what happens to Raven’s coronation?” He asked, and Valerie made a suggestion.

“I should go with Alice and Ray. You and Burke can make it early tomorrow morning.”

Raven had made so much impact that everybody wanted to attend, but some people had to be left behind to take care of pack matters.

Alpha Denzel knew that not only Denver but Alice and Ray will be safe because of Valerie’s presence. She had her powers and an Alpha wolf.

“Alright. But you have to inform me about everything that goes on there until we get there,” Alpha Denzel said seriously, Valerie smiled.

“You know I will. Ashley and Adira are all attending with their pups so Denver will be happy there.”

Alpha Denzel was calmed by the news, and since their bags were packed for tomorrow, Valerie got ready and started the journey.

A few hours after they left, Alpha Denzel called Valerie to check on her, but she was not answering the phone. Worried, he called the two warriors escorting them, and one of them answered.

“Alpha, we were attacked on the journey.”
