But before she could finish speaking, the car suddenly screeched to a halt, the tires locked instantly, and under the force of inertia, sharp screams escaped them as their bodies violently lunged forward.

Seated in the back, Xu Yixue’s forehead slammed against the seatback in front of her, causing a throbbing pain that soon turned red and swollen, even forming a small bump; her phone had been flung beneath the seat in front.

“What happened?” She steadied herself and looked around the interior of the car, frowning.

Ye Xiaoning in the front passenger seat was in a much worse condition, her head having struck the dashboard, nearly passing out.

Driving them was Xu Dan, who was unharmed, yet his face darkened like stormy waters, his cold gaze settling on the black Maybach that had suddenly sped past and blocked their lane, sensing a major incident was unfolding.

As the driver, he had been cautiously driving on the side of the road, but the Maybach had abruptly accelerated, overtaking and then, with a swing, forcefully cut in front of their lane.
