Chapter 1114: The Contest Chapter 1114: The Contest Villain Ch 1114.
The Contest The announcement of the new special event had caused a frenzy among the players.
Five lucky winners would be chosen to participate in an exclusive storyline with the devil emperor himself.
The female players could romance him, and the male players could become his aide or friend temporarily.
It was the ultimate prize-a chance to get close to the infamous villain, to stand by his side or try to win his dark heart.
And the best part?
The event wasn’t based on battle skills, level, or class.
No fighting was required.
All players had to do was reach a minimum level of 40, which wasn’t too difficult.
It was designed to appeal to everyone, from casual players to hardcore veterans.
And of course, the server exploded with excitement the moment the announcement dropped.
The forums were flooded with posts, Discourd channels lit up with chatter, and players across the globe started planning strategies.
It wasn’t just any event-this was the event.
The chance to get close to the Devil Emperor, either as his potential romantic interest or his right-hand aide, was enough to send every player into a frenzy.
No one expected it to be straightforward, though.
In true Hell’s Gate fashion, there was a twist.
The event would take place in a massive, labyrinthine dungeon called the Infernal Nexus, a shifting realm of dark magic where nothing stayed the same for long.
Players would have to use their brains more than their brawn.
There would be monsters, of course-no Hell’s Gate event was complete without them-but brute force wouldn’t be enough.
The key to victory was solving puzzles, uncovering hidden clues, and figuring out how to navigate the ever-changing layout while dodging swarms of enemies.
It was a delicate balance between fight and flight.
Allen, however, could only observe from the sidelines.
Despite being the son of the game’s owner, he hadn’t been given permission to participate in or even peek at the event.
He had to content himself with following it through forum updates and listening to stories from players he encountered in the city.
It was frustrating.
As much as Allen wanted to step into the Infernal Nexus and experience the chaos firsthand, the staff kept him at arm’s length, restricting his access to the same level as the average player.
He couldn’t deny his curiosity about how the event would unfold-how the players would navigate the shifting dungeon, solve the intricate puzzles, and survive the relentless waves of monsters that hunted them down.
But for now, he had to be satisfied with hearing the stories secondhand.
In the meantime, Allen had his own game to manage.
His recent quest to upgrade his character’s tier had been a grueling one, pushing him to his limits.
Follow new episodes on the "N0vel1st.c0m".
The title of [Tier 3 – Hellblade Adept] had been well worth it, though the process to get there had been far from easy.
The quest had dragged on for two days, requiring Allen to delve into several dungeons, each more treacherous than the last.
The items he needed were scattered throughout these labyrinthine mazes, guarded by powerful enemies that seemed to grow stronger.
The most annoying part had been the walking-so much walking through endless corridors, some filled with traps, others crawling with monsters that attacked in large groups.
Allen had dealt with them efficiently, but the sheer volume of enemies made it exhausting.
On top of that, the final part of the quest had been a mission to eliminate other players.
It was nothing new to Allen.
But it had dragged on longer than he would’ve liked.
Still, he managed to complete it without too much trouble, earning his new tier and a set of shiny new skills to boot.
The girls had also upgraded, adding new skills and powers.
Allen had also run into Mila and Azura during his time in the game, and things with Azura had been… different.
When she was streaming, Azura acted like any other player, distant and professional, engaging with her audience as if Allen were just another character in the game.
But off-stream, she had begun to act differently-more friendly, less cold.
It wasn’t something Allen had expected.
Azura had always kept a certain distance from him, but lately, she seemed almost…
comfortable around him.
It was subtle, but it was there.
It was much better than the last time they met.
What troubled him more, though, were the whispers.
Every time he walked through the game with Azura by his side, he noticed it-the quiet murmurs from a few members of the Order of Valiance.
Not all of them, but enough to make him uneasy.
It was strange.
He couldn’t make out what they were saying, but the way they watched him when he was with Azura was kinda… weird.
There was something off about it, something he couldn’t quite put his finger on.
He had asked Azura if she knew anything about it, but she had shaken her head, claiming ignorance.
She didn’t seem concerned, but that didn’t stop the whispers from gnawing at the back of Allen’s mind.
He was curious, of course.
But somehow he also felt this was an unnecessary thing.
Despite the strangeness of it all, Allen decided to push it to the back of his mind.
There were always rumors in Hell’s Gate.
But as long as it didn’t interfere with his plans, he would let it go.
There was no sense in getting paranoid over something that might just be idle gossip.
Mila.
Yeah, just like Allen had promised during their last meeting, he was more open and welcoming every time he encountered her in the game.
Whenever they ran into each other, they often ended up chatting or hanging out at one of the taverns in the city.
It was always laid-back, the kind of conversation that filled the time without much pressure.
But as much as Allen enjoyed these moments, there was frustration.
Despite the warm reception from the girls, their initial predictions had been correct, hunting with Mila was nearly impossible due to the massive gap in their levels.
Allen and his crew were all seasoned, high-level players, and Mila, for all her enthusiasm and charm, simply couldn’t keep up.
