Chapter 1115: Escape?
Chapter 1115: Escape?
Villain Ch 1115.
Escape?
It wasn’t her fault, but every time they considered inviting her on to grind, the reality was hard to ignore.
Taking her along would mean carrying her through every encounter.
One or two hits from the weakest monsters were enough to drop her character like a stone.
It was brutal.
She was squishy and without a healer on their team, Mila would be a liability, someone they had to constantly revive or protect.
So, they were stuck.
Hanging out in the city was the best they could manage.
And while the social aspect was fun, the adrenaline of battling monsters, collecting loot, and leveling up was completely off the table when Mila was around.
Allen tried to be patient.
He didn’t want to make her feel bad or excluded, but the truth was that her level was just too low for them to do anything meaningful together in the wild.
Still, he kept his promise.
Every time he met her, he put on a smile and stayed engaged, whether they were lounging in a tavern or wandering the city streets.
But the unease was starting to grow, not because of Mila herself, but because of James and Noah.
Those two were always around, lurking in the background, inserting themselves into the conversations between Allen and Mila.
At first, it seemed harmless.
But over time, their presence became more intrusive.
Every time Allen and Mila would sit down for a quiet chat, James and Noah would show up, often without being invited.
They didn’t just want to hang out.
It was obvious they were encouraging Mila to get closer to Allen.
Allen’s instincts flared.
He wasn’t naive.
It made him uncomfortable, not just because of their persistence, but because it felt like they were manipulating the situation to their benefit.
The last thing Allen wanted was to be used, to become a pawn in someone else’s game.
There was also Sophia.
Yeah, Allen had to give a huge round of applause to Elio for handling that mess.
The patience that guy had to deal with Sophia was nothing short of admirable.
Follow new episodes on the "N0vel1st.c0m".
Especially considering the ongoing beef between her and Red_King.
No matter how difficult or divisive she became, Elio didn’t kick her out of the guild, showing a level of restraint Allen could never muster.
But even Allen could see the cracks.
Sophia wasn’t running with Elio and the core group anymore.
Instead, she mostly hunted with players like INeedAHotGF, Darren, and Liam, while Elio stuck to James, Noah, Gil, and the two new healers-replacements for Sophia, by the looks of it.
It was an unspoken split, a divide that everyone noticed but no one dared to mention out loud.
Allen could feel it too.
Sophia had adopted a frosty demeanor toward him, more so than before.
She ignored him in the game, barely acknowledging his existence, which, truthfully, he didn’t mind and was grateful about it.
He preferred it that way.
Things were cleaner when she kept her distance.
But while Sophia acted like he didn’t exist in the game, her behavior outside was a different story.
Specifically, at the gym.
That was where things got twisted.
Sophia had been spreading rumors about Allen, little whispers that always seemed to come back to him through the grapevine.
She had a way of twisting things, making him seem like the villain in their story.
It was subtle at first, comments dropped here and there to their mutual acquaintances, but it had grown over time.
Allen sat on the gym bench, wiping the sweat from his brow after a brutal set.
His muscles ached in that satisfying way that only a good workout could bring, but his mind was distracted.
Beside him was Gerry.
On his other side sat Mark.
He had been hanging out with them more often lately.
And, of course, Mark’s sudden presence in their little circle was due to Sophia.
“She said that?” Gerry’s voice was low, edged with disbelief as he set down his water bottle, his brow furrowed in genuine confusion.
He looked over at Mark, waiting for confirmation.
Mark nodded, leaning forward slightly on the bench as if sharing a dark secret.
“Yeah, man.
Apparently, she’s been telling people that Allen’s got a bunch of girlfriends now as some kind of ‘escape.’ Like, you know…
he’s using them to fill the void or something.” Gerry’s frown deepened, and his disgust was evident as he responded.
“Escape?
What, like…
because he can’t replace her?” There was a bite to his words, a sharp edge that made Allen glance at him briefly.
Mark nodded again, more solemn this time.
“Yeah, that’s what she’s been saying.
And people are eating it up.
You know how rumors spread in here.” Allen sighed deeply, leaning back against the cool metal of the bench.
He shook his head.
“Sounds like her,” he said, his voice calm but tired.
“Classic Sophia.
Twist the narrative just enough to make herself the victim.” He had long gotten used to the way she played her cards, but it didn’t make hearing it any easier.
Gerry leaned over toward Mark, his curiosity still piqued.
“What else do you know?” he asked, his tone both casual and inquisitive, as if trying to pull more out of Mark.
Mark shook his head.
“That’s all I’ve heard so far.
But I told them straight up-it’s not like that.” He sat up, more animated now.
“I mean, anyone with half a brain can see through it.
I gave them the facts, Allen’s been coming to this gym way before Sophia even joined.
She’s the one who showed up here.
That’s just simple logic.” Allen couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow, slightly amused by Mark’s attempt to reason with the rumor mill.
“What’d they say?” Allen asked, genuinely curious how the people at the gym had reacted to Mark’s defense.
He knew how gossip worked-once it started, facts didn’t always matter.
Mark sighed, shaking his head.
“Some of them listened, but you know how it is.
People love a good story, especially when it’s got drama.
They didn’t care about the timeline or who was here first.
The idea that you’re ‘escaping’ with a bunch of girlfriends is way juicier.” CREATORS’ THOUGHTS UnholyGod Your gift is the motivation for my creation.
