Chapter 1166: You’re On Your Own Chapter 1166: You’re On Your Own Villain Ch 1166.
You’re On Your Own Emma looked relieved since everything didn’t turn that bad and she didn’t expect Allen would have mercy on her after what happened in the event.
She leaned toward him, whispering, “Thanks.
You know, you’re the best brother I’ve ever had.” She tried for a subtle wink, and Allen just rolled his eyes, though a small grin crept onto his face.
Allen huffed, rolling his eyes but smirking slightly.
“Just make sure you don’t pull another stunt like that, okay?
I’m not going to be your safety net every time you mess up.
You better act more responsible after this, Emma,” he muttered back, his tone a blend of warning and amusement.
Emma smirked, nudging him playfully.
“Oh, I will… probably,” she said, stifling a giggle.
“But you should’ve seen yourself earlier, begging for mercy from me.
It was hilarious!
I nearly lost it.
And yeah, maybe I knew I’d get scolded, but it was so worth it.” Allen’s expression morphed into a cringe.
‘Why did she mention this now?
Didn’t she just say she was sorry?’ It smelled like trouble for Allen.
Before he could retort further, he noticed their father’s glare flick over to Emma.
“Emma…” Jordan’s voice was low, laced with silent anger that sliced through her giggle.
Emma froze mid-laugh, her eyes widening.
She knew she’d slipped up.
“Um… just kidding, Dad,” she said with a shaky smile, trying to smooth over the situation.
But Jordan’s expression didn’t soften.
His gaze locked on her, and she could tell she’d gone too far.
She gave Allen a pleading look, silently begging for backup, but Allen shrugged, glancing away as if to say, ‘You’re on your own this time.’ The rest of dinner devolved into a long, serious lecture session.
Allen had no intention of intervening; after all, Emma had pushed her luck one too many times, and he figured she’d finally have to sit with the consequences.
She kept glancing at him with eyes that silently screamed for help, but Allen only gave her the faintest shake of his head, amused and a bit smug.
‘You reap what you sow, Emma.’ When dinner finally ended, Allen excused himself from Jordan with a calm expression.
“I need to discuss something with Kai, actually.
Conference prep and all.” Jordan gave him a brief nod, his attention mostly on Emma, who was still squirming under his disappointed glare.
“Good idea, Allen.
Follow new episodes on the "N0vel1st.c0m".
Let’s make sure at least one of you is handling responsibilities tonight.” Allen took that as his cue and made a quick exit.
Just as he expected, Kai picked up on Allen’s cue without a word, politely excusing himself from the dining room with a respectful bow.
They headed up to Allen’s room, going over the last few details for the conference preparations, though they quickly realized there wasn’t much left to address.
“Everything’s pretty much ready for the big day,” Kai confirmed without breaking his stride, his voice calm and reassuring as always.
“We’re just waiting on final confirmations from a couple of vendors, but that should be wrapped up by tomorrow morning.” Allen nodded, things were running smoothly.
“Good to hear,” he replied, glancing over his notes one last time.
“Let’s just keep an eye on any last-minute updates, but otherwise, I think we’re set.” Kai left even before they reached Allen’s room.
Once he went in, Allen sank back onto his bed, pulling out his phone more out of habit than anything else.
He scrolled idly, checking in on the forums.
As he expected, nearly every thread, every conversation seemed centered around one topic: the emperor backstory event.
And more specifically, how to convert the Devil Emperor back to Prince Zael.
Allen grimaced, massaging his temples as he read through post after post of theories.
Some players argued that forming alliances with Zael’s old allies in the game would be key.
They just needed to search for them.
Maybe some still survive as NPCs.
Others suggested that winning him over would involve sentimental items from his past life.
There was even a theory that if they uncovered enough about his tragic backstory, they could “unlock” an alternate version of Zael.
And then, of course, there were dozens of threads where players were simply speculating on how they could “romance” the Devil Emperor.
‘It’s wilder than I thought,’ he thought, cringing internally as he scrolled through the comments.
Some players were determined to find ways to seduce, charm, or persuade the Emperor back into his Zael persona, while others were convinced they had to fight and defeat him in some grand battle of wills.
One comment in particular caught his attention.
“Has anyone noticed how the Devil Emperor reacts to certain players?
Like, when someone mentions loyalty or honor, he doesn’t lash out as much?
Maybe that’s a hint.
I think he could be converted if we play the right cards.” ‘Oh, great,’ Allen thought with a dry laugh.
‘So now they’re picking up on the minor details.’ He could already tell that, for many players, this event had shifted from a simple questline to something personal.
And, somehow, that irked him.
Seeing everyone try to dissect his character’s motives, to find a “way in” and “fix him”.
Just then, a new notification popped up on his screen.
It was from a Hell’s Gate news from a gaming blog titled “Uncovering the Tragic Hero: Is Saving The Devil Emperor The Key To Winning The Game?” “Oh, for crying out loud,” he muttered under his breath, clicking on the article out of morbid curiosity.
The piece was packed with everything he’d been seeing on the forums: theories, speculation, and analysis of every choice, every line the Devil Emperor had uttered during the event.
One paragraph stood out.
“This event has given players a rare glimpse into the mind of a complex antagonist.
The Devil Emperor isn’t just a villain; he’s a tortured soul, forced into darkness, who perhaps… just maybe… is waiting for someone to bring him back into the light.” Allen huffed, shaking his head as he tossed his phone onto the bed.
“Waiting to be brought back into the light?” He couldn’t help but laugh at the melodrama of it.
‘If only they knew I was just trying to survive that event without it going completely off the rails.’ The irony was too much for him.
