Chapter 1219: A Subtle Approach…
Not Really Chapter 1219: A Subtle Approach…
Not Really Villain Ch 1219.
A Subtle Approach…
Not Really The Cursed Crypts greeted them as they stepped through the portal.
The group scattered slightly, taking a moment to relax after the chaos of the underwater dungeon.
Vivian broke the silence first, leaning against one of the stone columns with her whip coiled neatly around her arm.
“I need to check the market,” she said, her tone casual.
“Are you guys coming?” Shea perked up immediately as she raised a hand.
“I’m coming.” “Me too,” Zoe echoed, stretching her tentacles lazily.
“Me three,” Bella added with a grin.
Larissa shrugged, her crimson eyes gleaming faintly.
“Yeah.” Vivian smirked at the quick responses, then turned her gaze to Allen, who had plopped down on one of the worn stone benches.
“What about you, Allen?
You coming?” Allen leaned back, his arms stretched over the top of the bench, and let out a short laugh.
“I just ran away from the female players, remember?
It’s a pass for me.” Larissa snapped her fingers in mock realization.
“Ah, yeah.
Makes sense.
The emperor can’t visit the market without a swarm of admirers chasing him down.” Alice, standing off to the side, tilted her head.
“What if you use your Devil Emperor avatar?
That should keep them at bay.” Allen gave her a flat look, raising an eyebrow.
“You mean the same Devil Emperor avatar they also want to make their groom?
Yeah, no thanks.
I told you, remember?” Zoe leaned against the stone wall, her grin sharpening.
“What if you just burn everyone who gets in your way?
Problem solved.” Allen snorted, shaking his head.
“Sure, let’s burn the market to the ground.
Then no one can shop, and I still can’t check the stalls.” Zoe snapped her fingers as if conceding a valid point.
“True.
Follow new episodes on the "N0vel1st.c0m".
Might be counterproductive.” Bella leaned forward, her lips curling into a mischievous smile.
“We could pretend to be married.
That should throw them off.” Allen huffed, a mix of exasperation and amusement flashing across his face.
“I wish it were that simple.
Apparently… it doesn’t work like that.
My avatar can’t get married.” Shea tilted her head curiously, her wings shifting slightly.
“Then shouldn’t that mean it’s not a problem?” Allen sighed, running a hand through his hair.
“It shouldn’t be a problem.
But when they decide to chase me around the market trying to drag me to some altar, it becomes one.” Larissa smirked, leaning against the wall.
“Ah, yeah.
That’s the problem.” Jane’s voice was thoughtful as she chimed in.
“We could act as your bodyguards.
Keep them away while you shop.” Alice nodded slightly.
“But will it work?
They’re persistent.” “It could,” Bella said, tilting her head thoughtfully.
“It’s worth a try.” Zoe’s tentacles waved lightly as she grinned.
“There’s nothing wrong with experimenting.
I say we give it a shot.” Allen raised a hand, his expression doubtful.
“Are you sure?
I mean, yeah, I’d like to check out the market, but I can hold off.
It’s not worth the chaos.” Jane crossed her arms, her voice firm.
“No.
The war event is coming up, and you need to be at your best.
Right?” Allen sighed, leaning forward as he rubbed the back of his neck.
“I guess you’re right.
Still feels like a pain, though.” Shea stepped closer, her voice more businesslike than usual.
“The conference is after the event anyway.
The event itself is to record montages, track game progress, and show off highlights.
It’s all about generating hype and attracting investors for the next game.” Zoe groaned, throwing her head back dramatically.
“Oh no… not business talk again.” Shea smirked, her wings fluttering as she shot Zoe a playful look.
“Business is my specialty, darling.
Don’t act like you’re not impressed.” Allen chuckled, finally standing up and brushing off his coat.
“Alright, alright.
If you’re all so determined, I’ll give it a shot.
But don’t blame me if this turns into a disaster.” Vivian grinned, cracking her knuckles.
“A little chaos makes the day more fun.” Larissa’s eyes gleamed as she adjusted her blood blade.
“And if it gets messy, well… we’ve handled worse.” Bella flicked her gloves with a smirk.
“Let’s see how good we are at playing defense.” As the group prepared to head toward the portal leading to the market, Zoe’s grin widened.
“This is gonna be fun.
Let’s see if the Devil Emperor can shop in peace for once.” Allen sighed again but couldn’t help the small smile tugging at his lips.
“Let’s hope so.” The group activated their Disguise Skills.
Their flashy, overpowered avatars dissolved into more modest appearances-well, as modest as their personalities would allow.
Allen’s usual Devil Emperor persona shifted into his secondary avatar, Al.
“Okay…” Allen spoke.
“We’re supposed to blend in, not make a scene.
Try to act casual.” “‘Casual’ isn’t in our vocabulary,” Larissa muttered with a smirk.
With a collective sigh, they stepped through the portal room.
In a flash, they emerged in front of Ront’s City Gates.
Allen barely had a chance to take in the scenery before it started.
“Al?!
Is that Al?” a female player shrieked from somewhere in the crowd.
Several heads turned, and soon enough, whispers spread like wildfire.
“It’s him!” “That’s Al!” “I thought he had ran away!” Eyes lit up as a group of female players began edging closer, their expressions ranging from excitement to predatory determination.
“Here we go,” Allen muttered under his breath.
But before the swarm could descend, the girls moved in.
Vivian and Shea flanked Allen on either side, their arms looping around his like they’d been rehearsing this for weeks.
“Stay close,” Vivian whispered, her tone laced with amusement.
“Not that he has a choice,” Shea added with a smirk.
They began walking casually, as if they hadn’t just drawn a massive target on their backs.
The rest of the group formed a protective swarm around them.
It was impossible to miss them, especially with the signs the girls were throwing-figuratively and literally.
