Chapter 1226: Professional Troublemaker Chapter 1226: Professional Troublemaker Villain Ch 1226.
Professional Troublemaker Emma pouted.
“Hey!
Players love quirky dungeons!
It’s better than the same old doom-and-gloom stuff.” Allen leaned back, smirking.
“Quirky?
You mean nightmare fuel?” “Oh, come on,” Emma said, throwing her hands up.
“You have to admit it’s creative.” Allen stared at her for a long moment before sighing.
“Creative isn’t the word I’d use.
Infuriating?
Sure.
Bizarre?
Definitely.
But creative?” He shook his head, taking another bite of his food.
Emma crossed her arms, sulking.
“You’re just mad because it made you uncomfortable.” “That’s putting it mildly,” Allen said, leaning back in his chair.
“I couldn’t even look at this salmon without thinking of those mermaids waving at me.
Thanks for that, Emma.” Emma’s pout dissolved into a grin.
“That means I made it!” she said, clapping her hands in triumph.
Her laugh was bright, almost childlike, as she leaned forward, clearly proud of herself.
But then her gaze flicked to Jordan, who was sitting across from her, his expression as stony as ever.
Her laughter trailed off awkwardly.
“I mean… I just gave my idea,” she added hastily, waving her hands.
“Nothing weird!
The developers agreed to it.
It wasn’t a crime.” Allen smirked, picking up his drink.
“It wasn’t a crime,” he echoed.
“It was just shock therapy for some poor, unsuspecting players.
And me.” Emma glared at him playfully.
“Your Devil Emperor is also shock therapy for some people, you know.” Allen couldn’t help the grin that spread across his face.

“I won’t deny that.” Jordan cleared his throat, drawing their attention back to him.
“Let’s keep the therapy sessions out of dinner, shall we?” he said, his tone dry but not unkind.
He gestured to the table.
“Eat.” The three of them turned their focus back to the food.
The servants moved quietly around them, refilling glasses and clearing empty plates with the efficiency Allen had grown accustomed to.
The salmon, despite its unfortunate association, was delicious, and the rest of the meal passed in relative silence.
Halfway through, Emma leaned slightly toward Allen, glancing at Jordan out of the corner of her eye.
She lowered her voice, her tone conspiratorial.
“Psst.
Psst.
Allen.” Allen glanced at her, raising an eyebrow.
“What?” he whispered back, his tone laced with both curiosity and caution.
Knowing Emma, this could go anywhere.
She smiled sheepishly, her voice barely audible.
“The chocolate.
Thank you.
It was delicious.” Allen blinked, then let out a soft chuckle.
“Good,” he said, keeping his voice low.
“Next time, no tricks.” Emma gave a quick, serious nod, her expression earnest.
“Got it.
Promise.” The exchange was brief but left a warm feeling in Allen’s chest.
Emma might be a troublemaker-a professional one, at that-but moments like these reminded him why he always gave her the benefit of the doubt.
They finished their dinner.
Allen thanked the servants with a nod, then excused himself, heading up to his room.
His mind was already racing, though he kept his expression calm.
He couldn’t shake the image of Zoe from earlier-the way she brushed everything off with that sharp grin that didn’t quite reach her eyes.
She was good at pretending, but Allen was better at seeing through it.
Once he reached his room, he closed the door and leaned against it for a moment, debating.
‘Is it too late?’ he wondered, glancing at the clock on his desk.
It was late, but not ridiculously so.
If anyone could handle a late-night call, it was Zoe.
She’d probably be awake anyway.
He picked up his phone and scrolled to her name, his thumb hovering over the call button.
‘What if she’s actually sleeping?’ he thought, hesitating for a moment longer before shaking his head.
‘Screw it.
Better to know.’ He pressed the button and waited as the phone rang.
At another place, Zoe sat cross-legged on her bed as she stared at her laptop screen.
The soft glow of the monitor lit up her face, her usual smirk replaced by a faint frown.
She was trying to focus on the homework she’d been working on, but her thoughts kept drifting.
Back to the dungeon.
Back to the market.
Back to him.
“Ugh,” she muttered, leaning back against the headboard.
Her room was quiet, save for the soft hum of her laptop.
It was too quiet.
She hated when things got too still-her mind would start racing, and not in a fun way.
She hated admitting it even to herself, but she missed him.
Allen, with his devilish smirk and calm demeanor that somehow always managed to ground her, even when everything else felt chaotic.
Her phone buzzed, pulling her out of her thoughts.
She glanced at the screen, her heart skipping a beat when she saw his name.
‘Speak of the devil…’ Literally, she thought with a small smile.
She answered, keeping her voice casual.
“Well, if it isn’t the Devil Emperor himself.
What’s the occasion?
Miss me already?” Allen’s chuckle came through the line, low and warm.
“Maybe.
You sound like you’re still awake, so I guess I didn’t interrupt anything important.” “Just some homework,” she said, leaning her head back and closing her eyes.
“What about you?
Shouldn’t you be sleeping or something?
Or are you stalking me now?” “Stalking?
No,” Allen replied smoothly.
“Checking in?
Maybe.” Zoe’s smirk softened, though she kept her tone light.
“Checking in?
Wow, you’re really pulling out all the stops tonight.
What’s the catch?” “No catch,” Allen said.
“I just wanted to make sure you’re okay.
You seemed…
off earlier.” Zoe’s heart skipped again, but she pushed it aside, rolling her eyes even though he couldn’t see her.
“Off?
Me?
Please.
I’m fine.
Just a bit annoyed with fish-themed dungeons, that’s all.” “Uh-huh,” Allen said, his voice tinged with doubt.
“You’re good at pretending, Zoe, but I know you better than that.” Zoe opened her mouth to protest but stopped herself.
There was no point lying to him, not when he could read her so easily.
She let out a long sigh, her tentacles curling tighter around her.
“Fine.
Maybe I was a little pissed off.
But I’m over it now, okay?” “Are you?” Allen asked, his voice softer now.
