Chapter 1230: Siding with the Devil Chapter 1230: Siding with the Devil Villain Ch 1230.
Siding with the Devil The lobby was quieter than the gym floor, with a few members relaxing on couches and staff milling about behind the front desk.
Allen found an empty corner and gestured for the group to follow.
“So,” Allen said, folding his arms as he leaned against the wall.
“Let me get this straight… You guys came here because of our last conversation in the tavern.” Tommy grinned, his posture relaxed as he leaned against the armrest of a nearby couch.
“Yup.
We said it, we did it,” he said proudly, like this whole thing was some kind of achievement.
His nonchalant attitude made it hard to tell if he was here to support Allen or just enjoy the drama.
Allen shook his head and huffed.
“This isn’t a show, you know.” Theodore raised a hand as if to calm him down.
“Hey, we’re not here to stir trouble.
Think of us as… extra audience.” “Extra audience,” Tommy echoed, nodding like it was the most natural thing in the world.
Allen gave them a flat stare, his patience wearing thin.
“I’m not running a soap opera here.” He turned his attention to Gilbert and Elio, the two most familiar faces in the group.
“And what about you two?
You’ve both had your own share of problems with Sophia, right?
You don’t see her anymore, you don’t want to deal with her anymore-so why bring them here?” Gilbert’s grin faltered slightly, and he rubbed the back of his neck.
“Well… Elio has more problems with her than I do, to be honest.
She’s not exactly being too mean to me lately.” Allen’s gaze shifted to Elio, who stood there with a calm expression, his hands tucked casually into his pockets.
There was something unreadable in his eyes, a sharpness that Allen couldn’t quite place.
Elio caught Allen’s questioning look and spoke with an almost disarming coolness.
“I wanted to see her reaction if she finds out I’m taking your side,” he stated.
That statement took Allen aback.
He straightened, his brows knitting together.
“You’re… taking my side?” He couldn’t believe his ears.
Elio shrugged, his expression steady.
“That’s right,” he said simply.
Before Allen could respond, Gerry leaned against the wall, arms crossed, a smirk tugging at his lips.
“Oof, this is getting better,” he muttered, clearly enjoying the tension Allen shot Gerry a look before narrowing his eyes at Elio.
“So, let me get this straight.
Follow new episodes on the "N0vel1st.c0m".
You want to take my side, even though we’ve barely interacted outside of Hell’s Gate?” “Yes,” Elio said, his tone unwavering.
Allen opened his mouth to say something, but Elio cut him off.
“I don’t expect you to believe me right away,” he said calmly.
“Think of it however you want-an act, a ploy, whatever makes sense to you.
But for now, yes, I’m on your side.” Allen frowned, his arms dropping to his sides.
“So this is some kind of game to you?
A way to poke the bear and see what happens when Sophia reacts?” Elio shook his head slightly.
“Not exactly.
Like I said, I don’t expect you to trust me immediately.
But I enjoyed our last conversation at the tavern.
It felt… refreshing.” “Refreshing,” Allen repeated, his tone flat.
He wasn’t buying it-not completely.
“So what?
You suddenly decided to ally with me because of a few drinks and random talks?” he asked in disbelief.
“Partly,” Elio admitted, his lips curving into the faintest hint of a smirk.
“But also because I’m tired of pretending neutrality with Sophia.
She’s been stepping on too many toes, including mine.
You just happen to be the first person who called her out and didn’t crumble.” Allen crossed his arms again, his mind racing.
He wasn’t sure if Elio was genuine or just playing some long game he couldn’t see yet.
Either way, it put him in a position he wasn’t entirely comfortable with.
“You realize this puts a target on your back, right?” Elio chuckled softly.
“Oh, I’m counting on it.
Let her come for me.” There was a hint of irritation in his tone.
The confidence in his voice was unsettling.
Allen glanced at Gilbert, who had been uncharacteristically quiet.
“And you?
You’re just along for the ride?” he asked.
Gilbert raised his hands defensively.
“Hey, don’t look at me like that.
I just thought this would be entertaining.” A smirk played on his lips.
“Entertaining,” Allen repeated with a sigh, rubbing his temples.
“This isn’t a VR soap opera, Gilbert,” he said with a huff.
“Could’ve fooled me,” Gilbert said with a grin.
Gerry laughed, clapping Gilbert on the back.
“Hell yeah, dude!
This is premium drama.
You know what?
I like you.” He raised his fist, and Gilbert didn’t miss a beat, bumping it with a chuckle.
Allen shot Gerry an exasperated look.
“Great.
Just what I needed-you enabling him.” “Take it easy, dude.” Gerry leaned in, his grin wide.
“But you know?
I don’t know about all this game political crap, but I’m loving the drama.” “Of course you are,” Allen said, rolling his eyes.
“You thrive on chaos.” Before anyone could respond, the doors leading to the studio opened, and the chatter of women filled the lobby.
Allen turned his head just in time to see the Pilates class pouring out, their brightly colored workout gear a sharp contrast to the somber tones of the men’s suits.
Among the group was Sophia, her hair pulled back into a sleek ponytail.
She was laughing at something one of her friends said, but the moment her eyes landed on Allen, no the the groups, especially Elio and Gilbert were among them.
Her expression shifted.
A flicker of surprise crossed her face before she schooled her features into a cool, neutral mask.
Gerry, noticing the sudden shift in the room’s energy, leaned toward Allen with a mischievous grin.
“Well, well.
Speak of the devil.” “Gerry,” Allen warned, his tone low.
But Gerry wasn’t done.
