Chapter 1231: Lines in the Sand Chapter 1231: Lines in the Sand Villain Ch 1231.
Lines in the Sand Sophia froze the moment she stepped out of the Pilates class.
The workout had been brutal-Larissa’s hawk-like gaze on her the entire time didn’t help.
Every move, every stretch, every hold, it was as if Larissa were daring her to mess up.
And sure, she’d made fewer mistakes today, but it still felt like navigating a minefield.
Her muscles ached, and her mind was already swirling with thoughts of an indulgent smoothie to salvage her morning.
But the sight in the lobby made her stomach drop.
There was Allen, as expected.
She’d figured she might run into him-his gym routine was always predictable.
She’d even prepared herself mentally, rehearsing casual lines, something cool to say if their paths crossed.
But this?
This she hadn’t anticipated.
Her eyes landed on Gilbert first, his familiar playful grin instantly triggering memories she’d rather forget.
Next to him stood Elio, the sight of whom was a sucker punch to her composure.
Cool, detached, and impossible to read, Elio was the last person she’d expected to see here.
And then, to top it off, there were two other men-both strangers but undeniably wealthy-looking.
Their perfectly tailored suits and air of self-assuredness screamed “upper echelon.” ‘Who are they?’ she wondered, her gaze lingering on the two new faces.
Her mind raced, trying to connect dots that weren’t there.
A nudge at her side jolted her out of her thoughts.
Her friend, a petite brunette with a knack for prying into things, leaned in close, her eyes twinkling with mischief.
“Oh, look at that nice scene,” she said, tilting her head toward the group.
“Allen, Gerry, and… who are those guys?
They’re not bad looking.” Sophia’s stomach twisted.
“They’re… my gaming friends.” Her friend raised an eyebrow.
“Gaming friends?
Fancy ones, huh?
They look like they just walked out of a CEO convention.” Sophia forced a tight smile.
“Yeah, I think.
Well, it’s complicated.” Those two were with Allen and Elio so she assumed they were also from Hell’s Gate.
Her friend’s curiosity was piqued, as expected.

“You should introduce me.
I mean, come on, they’re right there.” Sophia stiffened, glancing at the group again.
Gilbert was laughing at something Gerry had said, and Elio’s sharp eyes swept the room with detached amusement.
“We don’t talk anymore,” Sophia said quickly, her voice quieter than she’d intended.
Her friend blinked.
“Wait, why not?” “There’s… something between us,” Sophia admitted, her tone cautious.
“They’re hurt.
Gaming stuff, you know?” She lied.
Her friend tilted her head, her expression skeptical.
“Hurt?
What kind of gaming stuff?” Sophia sighed, deciding to lean into the explanation she knew would get her friend off her back the fastest.
“You know how men can be.
They don’t like it when a woman beats them in a game.
Especially not repeatedly.” Her friend cringed, her nose scrunching up.
“Oof.
So… they don’t really like equality?” “Pretty much,” Sophia replied, forcing a laugh that felt hollow even to her own ears.
“That’s a red flag,” her friend said bluntly, shaking her head.
“Like, a big one.” Sophia didn’t respond immediately, her eyes still fixed on the group.
The conversation felt flimsy, like a threadbare excuse she’d spun just to avoid the deeper truth.
The truth that seeing Elio here, standing alongside Allen, made her chest tighten with a mix of unease and regret.
‘Why is Elio even here?’ she thought.
It wasn’t like him to get involved in petty drama.
And those two strangers-what was their connection?
There was something brewing here, something she wasn’t part of, and it gnawed at her.
‘There’s something brewing here,’ she realized, her fingers curling into tight fists at her sides.
Her stomach churned as her mind raced through the possibilities.
‘Are they… taking Allen’s side now?
‘The thought lingered, sharp and unwelcome.
This wasn’t something she’d predicted.
Sure, she’d heard rumors about the fiasco at the wedding event yesterday, how Allen had been caught up with guild leaders and a horde of female players.
She’d assumed it was nothing more than temporary chaos, a fleeting drama that would fizzle out.
But this?
This felt different.
It was too quick, too coordinated.
‘Is it stupid?’ she wondered.
‘Or is it just impossible?’ Sophia frowned, irritation creeping into her expression.
‘And here I was, thinking that a simple anonymous message would be enough to rattle him.
Just enough to make him worried.
Maybe even insecure.’ But Allen, as always, had somehow managed to turn the tables, walking through the chaos unbothered and coming out stronger.
She hated how good he was at doing that.
Her thoughts were interrupted by a sharp nudge to her side.
Her friend leaned in, her curiosity practically radiating off her.
“So?
You gonna say hi?” she asked, her tone a mix of teasing and genuine interest.
Sophia hesitated, her gaze flicking back to the group.
Gilbert and Gerry were laughing about something.
Allen stood nearby, his arms crossed, his usual calm demeanor frustratingly unshaken.
And Elio watched the scene with the faintest of smirks, as if he were enjoying some private joke.
‘Should I?’ Sophia wondered, her jaw tightening.
If she approached, it would mean stepping directly into their circle, into whatever new alliance was forming before her eyes.
But staying back, letting them carry on as if she didn’t matter?
That didn’t sit right either.
Her friend nudged her again, more insistently this time.
“Come on, Sophia.
You can’t just stand here staring.
Either say hi or let’s go grab smoothies.
You’re making it weird.” “Should I?” Sophia asked, more to herself than to her friend.
Her friend raised an eyebrow.
“I mean, they’re your friends, right?
Sort of?
Or at least they used to be.” ‘She’s right,’ Sophia admitted reluctantly to herself.
‘I can’t just stand here like an idiot.’ If she wanted to get ahead of this, she needed to act.
At the very least, she needed to know who those two were.
‘Maybe I can bring them to my side,’ she thought, her mind already forming a plan.
‘Or at least fix my reputation before this whole thing spirals.’ “Alright,” Sophia said finally, straightening her posture.
She smoothed her workout tank, her fingers brushing away invisible wrinkles as if that would help her feel more composed.
