Chapter 1236: Punchline of a Bad Joke Chapter 1236: Punchline of a Bad Joke Villain Ch 1236.
Punchline of a Bad Joke “Not what I said,” Allen replied, starting his next set.
“But sure, give it a shot.
Just don’t expect to find your soulmate between raids.” Gerry grinned.
“You’re just saying that because you already cornered the market.” Allen rolled his eyes but couldn’t help the small laugh that escaped.
“Seriously, it’s not as easy as you think.
You’d probably spend more time getting ganked by kids than charming anyone.” “Ganked?” Gerry asked, confused.
“Ambushed,” Allen clarified.
“Repeatedly.
By people with nothing better to do than mess with new players.” “Sounds…
humbling,” Gerry cringed.
“Well, I will tell you if I want to try it though.” “Extremely,” Allen said, smirking as he finished his set and sat up.
“But hey, if you’re serious about diving into Hell’s Gate, let me know.
I’ll make sure you don’t get roasted too hard on your first day.” Before Gerry could fire back, Larissa strolled over, a smirk already plastered on her face.
She was dressed casually, though the air of authority she carried as an instructor couldn’t be ignored.
Her sharp eyes darted between Allen and Gerry, clearly sizing up the situation.
“Hey, boys,” she greeted, crossing her arms.
“What’s got you two looking like you just got handed the punchline of a bad joke?” Allen chuckled, grabbing his water bottle and taking a long sip.
“Let me guess-you just noticed what went down in the lobby?” Larissa raised an eyebrow, her smirk widening.
“Yeah, unfortunately.
I caught the tail end of it.
But I can’t exactly interfere, you know?
Work hours and all that.” She gestured at herself dramatically.
“I’m here as an instructor, not to stir the pot.
I can’t mess up as easily as you guys.” “You missed the good stuff,” Gerry chimed in, leaning back against the bench like he was recounting the greatest show of the decade.
Larissa let out an exaggerated huff, tossing her hair over her shoulder.
“Don’t remind me.
So who were they, anyway?
One of them’s your friend, right?” She tapped her chin thoughtfully.
“Gilbert?
Follow new episodes on the "N0vel1st.c0m".
And I definitely saw Elio.
But the other two?
No clue.
Judging by your reactions, though, they weren’t here for Allen.” Allen snorted, rolling his shoulders.
“Oh, they were absolutely here for me.
Just not for the reasons you’re thinking.
They came to watch the drama unfold.
And the other two?
Mastercraft and Red_King.” Larissa froze, her eyes widening in disbelief.
“Wait-what?
Mastercraft and Red_King?
Why the hell would those two show up here?
Don’t tell me… they came just to mess with Sophia?” Allen and Gerry nodded in perfect unison, their expressions a mix of amusement and exasperation.
“Oh my God,” Larissa groaned, rubbing her temples like she was trying to fend off an incoming headache.
“I don’t know whether to feel happy or sad about this.” “You should feel sad,” Gerry said, barely suppressing a grin.
“You missed something truly spectacular.” “Spectacularly dumb,” Allen corrected, shaking his head.
“But yeah, you did miss out.
They were at peak troll mode.
Mastercraft couldn’t stop baiting Sophia, and Red_King was just… being Red_King.” Larissa grimaced, her lips curling into a half-smile, half-wince.
“That’s like throwing a grenade into a campfire.
What even set them off?” Allen leaned back against the bench, letting out a slow breath.
“The last conversation in the tavern.
Guess that’s all it took.” “Of course, it was about you,” Larissa said with a dramatic roll of her eyes.
“Your fanbase is basically a ticking time bomb.
One wrong word, and they’ll swarm.” “She should’ve known better,” Gerry added, shaking his head.
“You can’t just trash-talk Allen without consequences.” “Hey, they aren’t my fanbase,” Allen said, smirking.
Larissa crossed her arms, tilting her head.
“Okay, but seriously, what’s their deal?
Why go out of their way to start drama IRL?
Aren’t they busy enough in-game?” Allen shrugged.
“Who knows?
Maybe they were bored.
Or maybe they just wanted to see Sophia squirm.
Either way, they got what they came for.” “Which was?” Larissa pressed, clearly intrigued despite herself.
Allen grinned, his eyes glinting with amusement.
“Sophia storming out of the lobby, red-faced and fuming.
Classic.” Larissa let out a low whistle.
“Damn.
I almost feel bad for her.” “Almost,” Gerry echoed with a laugh.
“But come on, you know she had it coming.” Larissa shook her head, her expression caught somewhere between disbelief and amusement.
“You guys are impossible.
And what about Gilbert and Elio?
Were they just here to spectate too?” “Pretty much,” Allen said.
“Gilbert was soaking it all in like it was his favorite soap opera.
Elio… I don’t know.
He seemed more amused than anything.” “That guy’s a wild card,” Larissa muttered, her brow furrowing.
“One minute he’s your enemy, the next he’s hanging out like nothing happened.” “Tell me about it,” Allen said, his voice laced with a hint of irritation.
“He’s trying to play nice now, but I’m not buying it.
Not completely, anyway.” “Smart move,” Larissa said, nodding approvingly.
“Keep your guard up.
He might be friendly now, but people like him don’t just flip a switch and change overnight.” “Exactly,” Allen said, picking up a dumbbell and starting another set.
“I’ll play along for now, but I’m not letting my guard down.” Larissa watched him for a moment, her expression thoughtful.
“You’ve got a lot on your plate, don’t you?” Allen didn’t reply immediately, focusing on his reps.
When he finally spoke, his voice was quiet but firm.
“Yeah.
But it’s nothing I can’t handle.” The three of them fell into a brief silence, the sounds of the gym filling the space.
Gerry eventually broke the quiet, his tone light and teasing.
“So, Larissa, you sticking around?
Or are you heading back to ‘instructor mode’?” Larissa smirked, glancing at her watch.
“I’ve got a few more minutes before I need to head back.
Why?
You planning to entertain me?” “Not unless you count Allen’s attempt at being romantic,” Gerry quipped, earning a glare from Allen.
“Romantic?” Larissa asked, her curiosity piqued.
