Chapter 1248: Competitive Fun Chapter 1248: Competitive Fun Villain Ch 1248.
Competitive Fun The next hour was a whirlwind of lights, sound, and pure, competitive fun.
Zoe and Allen moved from one VR game to the next, each match more intense than the last.
They played racing games where their virtual vehicles roared through neon streets, FPS games where precision and reflexes reigned supreme, and even a quirky co-op puzzle game that had them working together to disarm traps in an ancient ruin.
Every time they stepped into a game, a new crowd gathered around their pods, drawn in by their skills and the energy they brought to each match.
Zoe couldn’t help but feel a rush of pride every time she heard the cheers or caught snippets of admiration from the onlookers.
“She’s so fast!” “Did you see that headshot?
Insane!” “These two have to be pros.
No way they’re casuals.” Zoe basked in the attention, her earlier nerves completely forgotten.
She didn’t even care that her face was probably glowing with excitement and exertion-she was having too much fun.
And Allen?
He seemed to thrive on it.
His calm, competitive smirk never left his face, and every now and then, he’d glance her way, as if silently asking, ‘Having fun?’ Her answer was always a grin and a determined, ‘Let’s go again.’ By the time they finally stepped out of their last game, a grin on Zoe’s face.
She could feel the lingering hum of adrenaline in her veins, and her cheeks ached from smiling so much.
She glanced at Allen as they walked back to the main lobby, her bracelet catching the light as she adjusted her bag.
He looked as composed as ever, but there was a hint of satisfaction in his expression that made her chest feel warm.
Their hands intertwined.
“That was incredible,” she said, her voice breathless.
“I don’t think I’ve ever had that much fun in one sitting.” “Glad you enjoyed it,” Allen said, his smirk softening into something warmer.
“You handled yourself well out there.
Kept up with me, at least.” “Kept up?” Zoe repeated, raising an eyebrow.
“I beat you in the racing game.
Don’t act like that didn’t happen.” “Beginner’s luck,” Allen teased, his tone dripping with sarcasm.
“Sure, keep telling yourself that,” Zoe shot back, laughing.
She nudged him playfully, her heart light.
They exited the café.
“Thanks for today,” she said, her voice quieter now.
“I really needed this.” Allen glanced at her, his smirk giving way to a small, genuine smile.
“Anytime.” They rode Allen’s motorcycle back to Zoe’s mansion, the hum of the engine a steady backdrop to her swirling thoughts.
The afternoon sun bathed the streets in warm, golden light, but Zoe’s mind was already in overdrive, leaping between memories of the VR matches and the next event of Hell’s Gate.

When they arrived, Allen parked the bike smoothly in the driveway, kicking the stand down.
Zoe hopped off, pulling the helmet off her head and shaking out her hair.
Her heart was still racing-not from the ride, but from the whirlwind of the day.
“That was…” Zoe paused, searching for the right word.
“Amazing.
I haven’t had that much fun in ages.” Allen smirked, leaning back casually on the motorcycle.
“Told you it’d be worth it.
You’re not bad, by the way.
Keep me on my toes.” “Not bad?” Zoe scoffed, pretending to be offended.
“I made you work for that draw, and you know it.” Allen chuckled, raising his hands in mock surrender.
“Alright, fine.
You’re good.
But don’t let it go to your head.” “Too late,” Zoe quipped, grinning as she tucked her helmet under her arm.
“Seriously, though, thanks for today.
I needed this.” Allen nodded, his smirk softening into something more sincere.
“Good.
That’s what it was for.” Zoe’s thoughts shifted to the night ahead.
“So, are you ready for tomorrow?” she asked, glancing at Allen.
“For the war?” he said, raising an eyebrow.
“Yeah.
As ready as I can be.
Though I hear the developers might throw some buffs for the players.
Could be interesting.” Zoe tilted her head, curiosity sparking.
“You think they’re doing it to balance things?
Or just to hype everyone up?” “Probably both,” Allen said, shrugging.
“It makes sense.
The players need a morale boost, and the buffs will make the fights more dynamic.
But how strong those buffs are?” He shook his head.
“No clue.
They’re keeping that under wraps.” Zoe nodded, her thoughts drifting to the recent updates she’d read in the forums.
“I heard some players are hitting their third-tier classes now.
And mounts… Some of them even have flying ones.
That’s gonna change the dynamic a lot.” “Yeah,” Allen said, his tone thoughtful.
“Flying mounts are tricky, though.
Great for events, but a pain during regular play.
They make you stick out like a sore thumb.” “True,” Zoe agreed.
“Still, it’ll be cool to see them in action tomorrow.
Especially with the montage for the conference.
Everyone’s gonna bring their A-game.” “Better hope so,” Allen said, smirking.
“Wouldn’t want to disappoint the devs.
Or the audience.” “Alright,” she said, huffing.
“I’ve got homework and some studying to do before tonight.
What about you?” Allen shrugged, leaning against the wall with his usual ease.
“Got a few things to prep.
Gear checks, strategies, the usual.
You logging in early?” “Probably not,” Zoe admitted.
“I want to be fresh for tomorrow, so I’ll keep it light tonight.
Maybe just go over some builds or watch the pre-event buzz.” “Smart,” Allen said, nodding.
“No need to burn yourself out before the big show.” Zoe smiled, her excitement bubbling.
“Big show” was an understatement.
Tomorrow wasn’t just a regular event-it was a chance to shine, to showcase everything they’d worked for in Hell’s Gate.
“Alright,” she said, heading toward the stairs.
“Thanks again for today, Allen.
Seriously.” “Anytime,” he said, his smirk returning.
“Just don’t let that bracelet distract you too much from your homework.” Zoe laughed, her cheeks warming as she glanced at the wave charm on her wrist.
“No promises.” With that, she gave Allen a light kiss and headed inside.
It was a simple date for her, but yes… it was the best day of her life.
