Chapter 1278: Fought Like Maniacs Chapter 1278: Fought Like Maniacs Villain Ch 1278.
Fought Like Maniacs “HAHAHAHAHAHA!” Allen threw his head back, his wings flaring as dark energy rippled outward.
His laugh echoed through the ruins, cutting through the eerie silence that had fallen over the battlefield.
The remaining players who’d respawned nearby just stared at him from afar, frozen in place.
No one moved.
No one spoke.
They just… watched.
Then came the notification.
[The event has ended.
All players will respawn at the City Gate!] A new pulse of light surged through the battlefield, engulfing everything in a blinding white glow.
One by one, the bodies of fallen players and NPCs began to disintegrate into fragments of light, carried off into the ether.
With a burst of light, players began reappearing at the edge of Debaris.
The city gates-once polished steel, manned by proud NPC guards in gleaming armor-had changed.
The massive gates now looked cracked and ominous, jagged obsidian replacing the smooth steel.
Instead of banners of valor, twisted dark flags fluttered in the wind, their symbols unrecognizable but menacing.
The guards?
No longer human.
Hulking demons clad in shadowy plate armor patrolled the entrance, their glowing eyes scanning players with silent malice.
“Holy… crap,” someone whispered as they respawned, their boots landing on the stone.
The sky, once bright and clear, was now a swirling vortex of black and red, like a storm that never quite hit but always loomed.
The air felt… thicker.
Heavy, as if the city itself had lost its will to breathe.
In the distance, the ruins of Debaris-The emperor’s playground of destruction-were starting to fix themselves.
But only halfway.
Cracked buildings stood crookedly, rubble melted back into walls in twisted, jagged forms.
Fires still burned, casting eerie glows on the streets.
It was as if the city was alive but broken.
The NPCs… The NPCs who had once populated the markets, taverns, and guild halls now wandered aimlessly, their faces pale and fearful.
Shopkeepers huddled in corners.
A mother NPC dragged her child away from a dark alley, her eyes darting around like something would leap out at them.

Every now and then, players caught glimpses of new, demonic merchants with sinister smiles setting up in place of the old stalls.
The global chat exploded like someone had set it on fire.
[World Chat] Paladin_Fury: Someone needs to stop him before he takes another city.
Warrior_X67: THAT WAS BS.
HE CAN SUMMON HOW MANY LANCES???
Priest_Kira: Yep… The sky looks like we’re in hell now.
Shadow_Dancer: LMAO Debaris looks sick.
Can’t lie.
Mage_Drizzle: Stop simping for destruction, Shadow.
PEOPLE LOST EVERYTHING.
The arguments flooded in, players from every guild weighing in on what had just happened.
[System Broadcast] The Devil Emperor has claimed Debaris.
All players may now enter the city under its new ruler.
Father^Alex stood a short distance from the city gate, his hands clenched tightly around his staff.
Around him, other members of Order of Valiance and Celestial Vanguard gathered in stunned silence as their health bars refilled.
“We failed,” Priest_Kira whispered, her voice breaking.
Alex didn’t respond right away.
His gaze was locked on the city, his expression unreadable as demons marched casually across the broken streets of Debaris.
The dark banners fluttered in the wind, an eerie reminder of their failure.
NPCs huddled in corners or shuffled like lost ghosts, while the twisted forms of demon guards prowled, their glowing eyes watching everything.
“This…” Priest_Kira whispered, her voice trembling.
“This is messed up.
Like, beyond messed up.” Alex finally let out a slow breath, his grip on his staff loosening just slightly.
“We did everything we could.” His voice was steady, though his exhaustion seeped through every word.
“We held them until the very end.
That’s… something.” “It doesn’t feel like it,” Kira muttered, kneeling to adjust her tattered robes.
Her HP bar was still recovering, but the ache of defeat lingered heavier than any in-game wound.
“I mean, look at this place.
It’s his now.” Before Alex could respond, the sound of heavy boots scraping against stone drew their attention.
Red_King respawned a few meters away, his massive frame slumping as he planted his greatsword into the ground for balance.
His armor, still scuffed and torn from the fight, barely shimmered in the gloomy light.
“Still alive?” Red_King’s deep voice rumbled as he made his way over, forcing a grin that didn’t quite reach his eyes.
“I swear I saw that bastard stab me through the chest.” Kira let out a weak laugh.
“Yeah, join the club.” Red_King grunted, lowering himself onto a piece of rubble near them.
“So?
Who’s dead and sulking?” “Most of us,” Alex replied dryly.
“Accurate,” came another voice from behind.
Elio approached, one hand holding his sword loosely at his side.
His armor was practically glowing from the respawn process.
“Mac…” Kira’s voice softened.
“You okay?” Elio didn’t answer right away, his gaze fixed on the city.
Even after everything, the fight still replayed in his head.
The crack of the core.
The shockwave.
The emperor’s mocking laugh.
He let out a sigh and finally turned to them, forcing a small smirk.
“We held the line,” he said quietly.
“Until the last second.” Kira bit her lip, her eyes darting away.
“Yeah.
Just… wasn’t enough, was it?” Elio shook his head.
“It was never going to be enough.
But we made him work for it.” He glanced at Alex.
“Especially you.” “Me?” Alex blinked.
Before Elio could elaborate, another player’s figure shimmered into view as she respawned.
Azura appeared, her armor still glowing faintly from the respawn glow.
Her hair swung behind her as she strode toward the group, eyes sharp despite the exhaustion etched into her features.
“Did you all see that?” Azura asked without preamble, waving a hand at the ruined city.
“He owns the place now.
Guards, banners, everything.” Red_King snorted.
“We fought like maniacs and still got curb-stomped.” Azura rolled her eyes and turned to Alex.
“And you, Mr.
Holy Healer, better be proud of yourself.” Alex blinked again.
“Proud?
I spent the entire fight staring at everyone’s health bars and spamming heals like a lunatic.” CREATORS’ THOUGHTS UnholyGod Your gift is the motivation for my creation.
