Chapter 1279: Own It!
Chapter 1279: Own It!
Villain Ch 1279.
Own It!
“Exactly.” Azura pointed at him.
“You kept people alive.
Without you, the core would’ve dropped way earlier.
Own it.” “…I guess,” Alex muttered, rubbing the back of his neck.
Before the group could say anything more, a loud chime rang out across their HUDs.
[System Broadcast] Attention players!
HP and MP regeneration will drop by 10% for 2 hours while within the city of Debaris.
“So not only did we lose, but now we’re penalized inside the city?” Kira stared at the screen as if it had personally betrayed her.
“Of course we are,” Azura said bitterly, crossing her arms.
“The system is probably laughing its ass off watching us suffer.” “Perfect.” Red_King groaned, running a hand through his hair.
“Low regen.
Demonic NPCs.
This place is basically a death trap for anyone stupid enough to hang around.” “Like us?” Elio muttered.
“Yeah, like us,” Red_King shot back.
The HUD chimed again.
This time, the broadcast was far more personal.
[System Broadcast: Event Points Ranking and winners] 1st: Mac – Order of Valiance (Points: Wounded the villains) 2nd: VirtualValkrie – Ironclad Legion (Points: Wounded the villains + Assist) 3rd: Father^Alex – Celestial Vanguard (Points: Assist + Healing city core) For a second, nobody said a word.
The wind blew faintly over the ruined city, dust scattering at their feet.
Then Kira broke the silence.
“Wait.
WHAT?” All eyes turned to Alex, whose jaw was practically on the ground.
“…Me?” Red_King snorted, clapping a heavy hand on Alex’s shoulder.
“Would you look at that!
Holy Staff over here got a podium finish.” “That… can’t be right,” Alex stammered, staring at the notification as if he’d misread it.
“I-I just healed.
I didn’t do anything.” “Uh, apparently you did,” Azura said, her tone somewhere between amused and impressed.

“You kept the core alive long enough to squeeze out every last second.
That’s no small feat.” “I-I…” Alex struggled for words, his face going red.
“I thought I was just… I don’t know.
Existing.” Elio laughed quietly, a tired but genuine sound.
“Existing is hard enough to save a city for almost the entire event, apparently.” “I… I…” Alex couldn’t finish.
He just sank onto a broken chunk of rubble and dropped his head into his hands.
“How.
How did I rank higher than half the DPS in this game?
I didn’t even see the fight half the time!
I-I just….” Kira patted him on the back, grinning.
“Welcome to the power of healers, Alex.
We suffer in silence, but when we’re good, we’re really good.” Azura chuckled, leaning back on her heels.
“And you earned it, so don’t even think about complaining.” “Yeah,” Elio added, his voice soft but firm.
“You kept us in the fight.
That’s all that mattered.” Alex peeked up at them, blinking.
“…This is so weird.” “Get used to it,” Red_King said with a smirk.
“You’re famous now, Holy Hands.” Alex groaned, but the faint smile tugging at his lips betrayed him.
The group sat in silence for a moment.
The ruins of Debaris loomed in the distance, dark and twisted.
The city was no longer theirs.
It belonged to the emperor now.
“We’ll take it back,” Elio said suddenly, his voice steady.
The others turned to him.
“Maybe not today.
Maybe not next week,” Elio continued, staring toward the demonic gates with a look of pure determination.
“But we’re not leaving this as it is.” Azura nodded, her jaw set.
“Damn right, we’re not.” “Next time,” Red_King grumbled, his fingers curling into fists, “we’ll be ready for that bastard.” Kira grinned.
“And next time, I want to make the leaderboard, too.” “Careful, I might out-heal you again,” Alex teased weakly, earning a round of laughter.
They sat there for a little while longer, the group of battered players finding some comfort in their shared loss.
Despite everything-despite the broken city, the demonic guards, and the humiliation of defeat-there was a spark of hope.
A small, stubborn flame refusing to go out.
It didn’t matter how bad the loss felt right now.
Every player who had fought here knew it wasn’t over.
“Hey!
There they are!” The sudden voice broke the quiet, and the group turned to see a crowd of players moving toward them.
At first, it was just a handful-familiar faces from the Order of Valiance and Celestial Vanguard-but then it snowballed.
More and more players teleported in or ran over, their respawn timers now clear.
“Yo, Mac!” someone called, grinning as they pushed through the growing crowd.
“That was insane, man!
You bought us so much time.” “You too, Red_King!” another chimed in.
“That fight against the Devil Emperor was wild.
I thought you were gonna tank him solo!” Red_King shrugged, but his grin gave him away.
“Eh, I did my best.
Still got a hole punched through me at the end.” “Valkyrie!” Azura turned as a group of players from Ironclad Legion hurried up, their guild tags glowing above their heads.
“You carried our DPS charts like a beast.
And you got second on the rankings?
Respect,” Arcana said.
She smirked and brushed off the praise with mock humility.
“You know me.
Just saving the day one assist at a time.” But the real surprise?
The players gather around Alex.
At first, Alex barely noticed.
He was still sitting on the chunk of rubble, staff resting across his knees as he watched the others talk.
But then someone nudged him-hard.
“Holy crap, it’s Father^Alex!
Dude, congrats on ranking third!” Alex blinked, glancing up.
“…Me?” “Yeah, you!” The first player was joined by more, and suddenly Alex found himself surrounded.
“Bro, I didn’t even know you were that good.” “Man’s a healing god, fr.
No wonder the core held out that long!” “Father^Alex MVP!
Respect, healer king!” “Wait-he got third?” someone new asked, squeezing through the crowd.
“A healer made the rankings?
That’s actually insane.” Alex’s face turned bright red.
“Guys, I just- I didn’t really-” “You kept us alive!” Kira interrupted, grinning as she clapped him on the shoulder.
“Quit being modest already, Alex.
You earned this!” CREATORS’ THOUGHTS UnholyGod Your gift is the motivation for my creation.
