Chapter 1284: I’m Too Rich For That!
Villain Ch 1284.
I’m Too Rich For That!
The tavern was alive with noise, laughter, and clinking glasses.
Players crowded the tables, their voices overlapping in a chaotic symphony.
Despite the darkened atmosphere of Debaris, the energy inside was light, almost celebratory.
Once they entered, Red_King immediately waved at a table near the back, where MasterCraft sat surrounded by familiar faces.
“There he is!” MasterCraft called, raising his mug in greeting.
“Allen, about time you showed up!” Allen approached the table, his presence drawing curious glances from nearby players.
“Didn’t think you’d come,” Arcana said, taking a seat beside him.
“Neither did I,” Allen replied with a faint smirk as he slipped into a seat at the bustling table.
The tavern was alive with chatter, mugs clinking, and the faint glow of spell effects as players lingered post-battle.
The air buzzed with an odd mix of defeat and camaraderie, a strange balance of shared losses and small victories.
“Allen!” MasterCraft bellowed, clapping him on the shoulder with a heavy hand.
The Forgemaster’s booming laugh rang out as he shoved a frothy mug in Allen’s direction.
“You missed the best part-me footing the bill!” “I find that hard to believe,” Allen quipped, raising an eyebrow as he accepted the mug.
“Don’t let him fool you,” Red_King interjected with a grin.
“He’s already crying about the tab.
Just wait until he checks his balance.” “I am not crying,” MasterCraft protested.
“I’m too rich for that!” Azura leaned back in her chair, her sharp eyes flicking toward Allen.
“You always show up after the fireworks.
Strategic timing, or just luck?” “Maybe both,” Allen replied smoothly, taking a sip from his mug.
The table erupted in laughter, and the tension from the event seemed to dissipate slightly.
“Man, that event,” James began, shaking his head.
“I still can’t believe how insane it was.
The emperor is OP as hell.” “Right?” Noah chimed in, throwing up his hands.
“Those Demonic Lances were just unfair.
Half of our party was wiped in seconds.” “And don’t even get me started on the hellfire,” Priest_Kira added, shuddering slightly.
“I had nightmares of my health bar plummeting to zero in one shot.” “I think we all did,” Justice.Bringer said, his tone half-joking as he nursed his drink.

“It’s like the system wants us to lose sometimes.” “Maybe,” Elio spoke up, his voice quieter but firm, cutting through the noise.
“But we still held them off.
That’s something.” All eyes turned to him, the table going quiet for a moment.
“Yeah, but congrats are in order for you, man,” Red_King said, his grin wide.
“You almost landed a hit on the emperor!
That’s huge!” “Yeah,” Azura added, a rare smile tugging at her lips.
“You pushed harder than anyone out there.” The others chimed in with murmurs of agreement, their voices overlapping with praise.
Elio shook his head, his expression darkening slightly.
“I’m not happy about it.” That caught them off guard.
“What?” Noah asked, his brow furrowing.
“Dude, you were this close!” Elio set his drink down with a soft thunk, his hand tightening slightly around the mug.
“That’s just it.
It doesn’t matter how close I was.
The hit wouldn’t have landed.
He already knew it wouldn’t.” Allen’s eyes narrowed slightly as he watched Elio, the faintest flicker of recognition sparking in his mind.
‘Ah… he knew.’ “That’s not true,” Justice.Bringer said, his tone firm.
“You fought well.
You made him work for it.” Elio let out a humorless laugh.
“Work for it?
He toyed with us.
Every move we made, he was five steps ahead.
Even when I thought I had an opening, he was already countering.” The table fell silent, his words settling over them.
“I get it,” Azura said finally, her voice calm but steady.
“It’s frustrating.
But that doesn’t mean it wasn’t worth something.
Every second you bought gave the healers time.
Gave the core time.” “Azura’s right,” Father^Alex spoke up, his shy tone contrasting with the weight of his words.
“If it weren’t for you, we wouldn’t have lasted as long as we did.
That’s not nothing, Elio.” Elio glanced at him, his expression softening slightly.
“Thanks, Alex.
But I still feel like we’re missing something.
Like there’s a bigger game being played, and we’re just… pieces.” Allen, listening quietly, suppressed a smile.
‘He’s sharper than I thought.’ “Maybe there is,” Arcana said as he approached the table, his heavy armor clinking softly.
“But that doesn’t mean we stop playing.
If there’s a bigger game, we figure it out and find a way to win.” The others nodded, their spirits lifting slightly at his words.
“Arcana’s right,” Red_King said, raising his mug.
“Next time, we hit harder, push further, and make sure they remember us.” A cheer went up around the table, and even Elio cracked a faint smile.
Allen leaned back in his chair, his mind already spinning with possibilities.
The players were growing stronger, more determined.
Their resolve was admirable.
But it wouldn’t be enough.
Not yet.
Not against him.
For now, he would let them have their moment.
After all, every victory-real or imagined-made the eventual fall that much sweeter.
But Allen’s eyes drifted toward Father^Alex, who sat quietly at the edge of the group, sipping his drink and looking far more uncomfortable than someone being celebrated should.
The noise of the tavern seemed to barely touch him, like he was trying to sink into the background and disappear entirely.
Allen smirked slightly to himself, leaned back in his chair, and then tapped Alex on the shoulder.
“Hey,” he said, his voice cutting through the noise around them but still casual.
“You’re today’s main winner, right?
You should act cooler.” Alex blinked, startled, and looked at him with wide eyes.
“Wha-me?” “Yeah, you,” Allen said with a faint chuckle.
“I heard you defended the city core until the last second.
That’s something.” Alex shifted uncomfortably, his face flushing as he scratched the back of his neck.
“I mean… yeah, I guess.
But still…” He trailed off, his voice dropping to a mumble.
“I feel like I did less than the others.” CREATORS’ THOUGHTS UnholyGod Your gift is the motivation for my creation.
