Chapter 1285: Are You Scheming Something?
Villain Ch 1285.
Are You Scheming Something?
Allen tilted his head, studying Alex for a moment.
Despite all the praise being heaped on him, the guy looked like he wanted to crawl under the table.
Allen’s smirk softened into something closer to a small smile.
“Less than the others?
You realize you kept the whole city standing for, what, two hours?
That’s not ‘less.'” Alex hesitated, his grip tightening on his mug.
“It’s just… I don’t know.
I feel like I was just… there.
Everyone else was out fighting, doing these crazy moves, and I was just spamming heals.” “Just spamming heals?” Allen repeated, raising an eyebrow.
“You kept the entire city alive with ‘just spamming heals.’ You’ve got half the player base calling you a legend right now.
Pretty sure that’s worth more than you think.” Alex’s face turned an even deeper shade of red, and he glanced away.
“I guess…” Allen leaned in slightly, his voice dropping just enough to make the words feel personal.
“It’s okay to own it, you know.
You did good, Alex.
Better than good.” Alex looked back at him, the faintest flicker of a smile on his lips.
“Thanks,” he said softly.
But then, almost as if he couldn’t help himself, he added, “But… honestly, it would’ve been better if Yora had gotten it.” Allen raised an eyebrow.
“Yora (Sophia)?” Alex nodded, fiddling with the edge of his robes.
“She’s… she’s always been the one everyone looks up to in healing.
She’s a lot more confident.
A lot more… everything.
I just feel like she deserved it more than I did.
I mean I know I’m good.
But… I-I don’t know.” Allen leaned back, watching Alex carefully.
The guy’s shyness was almost disarming, especially considering he had just pulled off one of the most impressive performances in the game.
But Allen could also see the shadow of doubt lingering in his eyes.

“Let me ask you something,” Allen said, his tone shifting to something quieter, sharper.
“If Yora had gotten it, do you think she’d be sitting here, second-guessing herself?” Alex blinked, clearly caught off guard by the question.
“I… I don’t think so.” “Exactly,” Allen said, leaning forward again.
“She’s not that good.
You are better.
That’s why you’re sitting here, and she’s not.” For a moment, Alex just stared at him, his expression unreadable.
Then, slowly, he nodded.
“I… yeah.
I guess that makes sense.” “Good,” Allen said, his smirk returning.
“Now stop sulking and enjoy the glory while it lasts.” Alex let out a small laugh, shaking his head.
“You’re a lot more persuasive than I thought you’d be.” “It’s a skill,” Allen replied with a shrug.
Across the table, Red_King raised his mug and called out, “Alex!
Quit hiding over there and join the conversation, man!
You’re the reason we’re even here!” Alex looked up, his face still a little flushed, but this time there was a hint of confidence in his smile.
“Alright, alright, I’m coming.” Allen watched as Alex joined the others, the group immediately pulling him into their lively discussion.
He could still see a bit of hesitation in the way Alex carried himself, but it was fading, bit by bit.
‘He’ll get there,’ Allen thought to himself.
‘One way or another.’ He leaned back in his chair, letting the noise of the tavern wash over him.
Laughter, cheers, the occasional clink of mugs-it was loud, chaotic, and strangely normal.
But as he looked at the group around him, a strange feeling tugged at the edge of his thoughts.
Just minutes ago, he’d stood above them as the Devil Emperor, blade in hand, shadows curling around his form as he unleashed chaos.
They’d thrown everything at him-swords, spells, desperation-and he’d slaughtered them like a villain should.
No mercy, no hesitation.
Now here he was, sitting at a table with those same players, chatting and drinking like nothing had happened.
It was… weird.
Allen’s eyes drifted to Elio, who was currently deep in a heated discussion with Red_King about strategy, his hand gesturing animatedly as he tried to make his point.
He shifted his gaze to Alex, who was finally starting to loosen up, laughing quietly at one of Kira’s jokes.
Even Azura had leaned back in her chair with a faint smile tugging at her lips.
‘They were trying to kill me an hour ago,’ Allen thought, his lips twitching into a faint smirk.
‘And now they’re acting like I’m one of them.’ The duality of it all was jarring.
The lines between the game and reality blurred in moments like this, and it left him feeling strangely disconnected.
It wasn’t guilt-he was the Devil Emperor, after all.
It was his role to dominate, to crush.
But there was something about sitting here, sharing their space, that felt surreal.
‘I wonder if they’d still act like this if they knew who I really am…’ He imagined their faces if they found out.
Elio’s fury, Red_King’s quiet, piercing disappointment, Alex’s shy but certain questions.
They’d be shocked at first, sure.
Then the accusations would come.
‘How could you?’ ‘You’ve been lying this whole time!’ Allen shook the thought away, reaching for his mug.
There was no point in dwelling on it.
For now, he was just Allen, the quiet observer at the table.
Let them have their illusions.
“Allen,” Azura’s voice broke through his thoughts, sharp and steady as always.
“What’s with that look?
You scheming something?” Allen blinked, his smirk returning as he turned to her.
“Do I really look that suspicious?” “Yes,” she said bluntly, though her lips curved into a faint smile.
“You’ve been sitting there staring at everyone like you’re planning world domination.” The irony almost made Allen laugh, but he kept his composure.
“Maybe I am.
Or maybe I’m just enjoying the show.” Azura raised an eyebrow, clearly unconvinced.
“You’re weird.” “And yet you keep inviting me to these things,” Allen replied smoothly.
Azura didn’t respond, but the corner of her mouth twitched upward before she turned back to the conversation at hand.
