Chapter 1291: Don’t Downplay It Chapter 1291: Don’t Downplay It Villain Ch 1291.
Don’t Downplay It “That’s different,” she muttered, pretending to blush.
“In-game, it’s just my skills and my character.” Sophia tilted her head slightly, letting her hair cascade over her shoulder in what she hoped was a casual, natural move.
Mr.
Bell chuckled, adjusting his collar as the car rolled smoothly down the avenue.
“Skills and character or not, you’ve got a knack for leaving an impression.
Don’t downplay it.” She shot him a small smile, the picture of humility on the outside, even if her thoughts were running far from modest.
‘Yeah, I leave an impression alright,’ she thought.
Mr.
Bell leaned back in his seat, glancing out the window before returning his attention to her.
“This event we’re visiting-the devs of that game you mentioned to me.
What was it called again?
What Gate?” Sophia barely resisted the urge to roll her eyes, her tone correcting him with practiced patience.
“It’s Hell’s Gate, Mr.
Bell.” “Yes, yes, that’s it,” he said, waving a hand.
“You know I’m not much of a fan of these games, but there are going to be a lot of tycoons at this event.
The company sent me to make a good impression, and you’re my ace if the conversation turns to the game.” Sophia straightened slightly, her innocent smile still firmly in place.
“You can count on me, sir.” “I’m glad to hear it,” Mr.
Bell said with an approving nod.
“Oh, and I remember they mentioned there’s supposed to be an important announcement tonight.
Not just about the event, but something significant.
Maybe related to the game.
Or even a new project.
Who knows?
If they’re looking for creative partnerships, we’ve got plenty to offer.” He turned to her, his eyes sharp with that calculating edge she’d grown used to.
“We’ve got some talents they might be interested in, you know.
Costumes, designs, cosplays-especially with those two.
Vivian and Allen.
The last magazine spread with their portraits sold like crazy.
Advertisements with their faces?
Follow new episodes on the "N0vel1st.c0m".
A goldmine.
The company would be fools not to consider them for their next promotional campaign.” The mention of Allen made something shift in her.
Sophia stiffened almost imperceptibly, turning her gaze to the window to hide her reaction.
Her reflection stared back at her, but it wasn’t her usual confident self she saw.
Instead, there was something twisted-an ugly tangle of annoyance, anger, and something she didn’t dare name.
Was it longing?
Frustration?
Resentment?
Maybe all of it.
Maybe none of it.
She didn’t know, and she didn’t want to figure it out.
Allen’s name had a way of doing this to her, dredging up emotions she thought she’d buried.
But this wasn’t the time.
She pushed it all down, burying it beneath the polished exterior she wore so well.
“Of course, there’s you,” Mr.
Bell continued, oblivious to her sudden mood shift.
“Your illustrations, your designs-they’re impeccable.
They’d be foolish not to take an interest in your work.” Sophia forced a smile, the kind she knew looked genuine but didn’t quite reach her eyes.
“Thank you, Mr.
Bell.
That means a lot.” “Don’t sell yourself short,” he said with a grin.
“You’ve got talent, Sophia.
And tonight’s as much about you showing that off as it is about me making connections.” She nodded, her mind already spinning with the possibilities.
She wasn’t just here to assist Mr.
Bell.
This was an opportunity-a chance to mingle with the elite, to rub elbows with people who could open doors she’d only dreamed of.
And if that meant playing the part of the perfect assistant, then so be it.
Her gaze drifted back to the window, the faint hum of the car blending with her thoughts.
The city lights blurred into streaks as they passed, and for a moment, her mind wandered to the event itself.
She knew who’d be there.
Elio-the so-called hero, the leader of the Order of Valiance.
She’d been looking forward to seeing him, to observing him in a setting outside the game after all what happened between them.
She wanted to know his reaction once he saw her on that event.
Then there was Father^Alex.
The shy healer, who somehow always managed to grab attention despite being so unassuming.
She’d never met him in person, but she’d heard enough about him to pique her curiosity and jealousy.
Was he really as timid as his character?
Or was there something more to him?
And, of course, there was VirtualValkyrie.
Azura, the cool, confident female streamer who had become the favorite of so many male players.
Sophia had nothing against her-personally-but the constant fawning over Azura grated on her nerves.
It would be interesting to see her in person, to see if she really was all that.
Among the players, those three were the only ones who had been officially invited.
But Sophia had her angle.
She wasn’t exactly on the guest list, but thanks to Mr.
Bell, she didn’t need to be.
Escorting him as his assistant gave her all the access she needed-and more.
‘Approaching this guy was the right decision,’ she thought, her lips twitching into a faint smirk.
She quickly suppressed it, replacing it with her usual innocent expression.
She had a plan: to take as many photos as possible, to mingle, to observe-and, most importantly, to prove she belonged in circles like this.
She had her excuses lined up, ready to bluff her way through any questions.
A special invitation from the devs, she’d say.
They valued her contributions as a designer, as a player.
And if anyone doubted her?
She had the photos to back it up.
The venue came into view, its grand facade lit up against the night sky.
Sophia sat up straighter, smoothing her dress and taking a deep breath.
This was it.
Her chance to step into a world she’d always wanted to be a part of-and she wasn’t going to let anyone, not even herself, get in the way.
“Ready?” Mr.
Bell asked, his voice calm and confident.
She turned to him, her smile firmly in place.
“Absolutely.” CREATORS’ THOUGHTS UnholyGod Your gift is the motivation for my creation.
