Chapter 1303: God Complex Chapter 1303: God Complex Villain Ch 1303.
God Complex To be fair, Gil didn’t really know much about Allen beyond the basics.
Gaming legend, ex of the infamous Sophia, and apparently a big deal.
But watching the reveal unfold, Gil couldn’t help but feel like he was witnessing something huge.
Sure, he was shocked, but at the same time, it all kind of made sense in hindsight.
“You good?” Gerry asked, nudging Gil with his elbow.
Gil let out a low whistle, still staring at the stage where Allen was answering media questions like a seasoned pro.
“Dude,” he muttered.
“This is wild.
I mean, I knew he was a pro gamer, but… Goldborne?
Freakin’ Goldborne?” “Yeah, that’s my man up there.” Gerry’s grin widened as he folded his arms, his chest puffed out just a little.
“Two years of hard work, man.
At the gym.
I polished him into what you see today.” Gil blinked and turned to him, his expression somewhere between amused and incredulous.
“Wait, seriously?
That’s what you’re thinking about right now?
You sound like a gym bro cliché.” “And I’ll take that as a compliment,” Gerry shot back, unbothered.
“But nah, for real, you wouldn’t say that if you saw him two years ago.
That dude was a wreck.
I’m talking black circles under his eyes, hair like a bird’s nest, living off junk food.
He looked like life had drop kicked him into next week.” “Really?” Gil asked, his eyebrows shooting up.
“Didn’t know that.
He always seemed kinda… okay, you know?” “Ha!
Okay?
Far from it.” Gerry shook his head, his gaze softening as he looked back at Allen.
“He went through a lot.
Like, A LOT.
And that Sophia girl?
Don’t even get me started.
She messed him up badly.” Gil frowned, leaning closer.

“What happened there?” Gerry let out a heavy sigh, his fingers drumming on the armrest.
“Man, he rarely talked much about her before, but you could tell.
She crushed him.
Like, completely broke his spirit.
He tried to play it cool, but I saw it.
The dude was hurting.
Big time.” Gil’s eyes flicked back to Allen.
It was hard to reconcile the polished, confident man on stage with the picture Gerry was painting.
“Damn,” he said quietly.
“So how’d he bounce back?” “That’s the thing,” Gerry said, his voice low but steady.
“He just… decided.
One day, he walked into the gym-didn’t even have proper workout clothes, just some ratty old T-shirt and shorts-and said, ‘I need to change.’ And he did.
Little by little, man.
He showed up every day, no matter what.
Even when he was dead tired or had zero motivation.
I’ve never seen someone so determined.” Gil let out a low whistle, shaking his head.
“Respect.
I didn’t know Allen had that in him.” “Allen’s a good guy,” Gerry said, his tone softening.
“Loyal as hell.
Honestly, he reminds me of that Elio guy, but… you know, different environment.
Allen had to fight for everything he’s got.” Gil nodded thoughtfully.
“Yeah, I can see that.
Elio’s solid, but he’s had support, you know?
Allen seems like he’s had to claw his way up.” “Exactly,” Gerry said, his gaze steady.
“And now look at him.
Tailor-made suit, standing under those lights like he owns the place.
But he hasn’t forgotten where he came from.
That’s what makes him different.” There was a brief pause before Gil smirked, his eyes twinkling with mischief.
“So what you’re saying is, you’re taking credit for all this?” Gerry laughed, throwing his head back.
“Hell yeah, I am!
That’s my man up there.
The one I dragged out of bed for 8 AM workouts, the one I made give up energy drinks for protein shakes.
You’re damn right I’m taking some credit.” Gil cringed, laughing despite himself.
“Okay, okay, I get it.
You’re a gym freak.
But seriously, it’s impressive.
Seeing him like this… it’s inspiring, you know?” Gerry nodded, his expression turning serious.
“Yeah, it is.
And honestly, it’s just the beginning for him.
This whole Goldborne thing?
It’s a game-changer.” “No kidding,” Gil said, leaning back in his seat.
Gerry grinned, a flash of pride crossing his face.
“Yeah, well, I hope he has a good life after this.
I really hope.” Gil glanced at him, his brow furrowed.
“What’s with that melancholic tone?
I’ve never seen you like this before.
You’re not dying, are you?” Gerry rolled his eyes, leaning back in his chair.
“Hey, I’m not melancholic.
I’m just… happy.” “Happy?” Gil repeated, his tone skeptical.
“Yeah.
Happy,” Gerry said firmly, nodding as if to convince himself more than anyone else.
“Happy that I didn’t choose the wrong friend, you know?
It’s like… it’s like seeing your creation succeed.” Gil pulled a face that was half cringe, half confusion.
“Your ‘creation’?
Dude, do you have a god complex now or something?” Gerry shot him a flat, unimpressed stare that said ‘seriously?’ without needing any words.
“It’s a gym bros code thing,” he said after a pause.
“You wouldn’t understand.” “Yeah, well, I’m fine not understanding whatever cult you’re a part of,” Gil muttered, shaking his head.
Gerry ignored him, his gaze drifting back to Allen on the stage.
“Look at him, though,” he said quietly, almost to himself.
“This is the same guy who wouldn’t even leave his apartment some days.
And for a while, it was like… he didn’t know how to put himself back together.” Gil stayed quiet, watching Gerry’s expression shift from pride to something softer, almost wistful.
After a moment, he spoke up again.
“You care about this guy, huh?” Gerry shrugged, though his voice betrayed the depth of his feelings.
“He’s my bro.
You don’t just let your bros drown, y’know?
I gave him a hand when he needed it.
And seeing him up there now… yeah, I guess it feels like all the effort was worth it.” Gil smirked, trying to lighten the mood.
“Still sounds like a god complex to me.” “Shut up,” Gerry said, but there was no bite to his words.
