Chapter 1304: Not a Tragic Figure Chapter 1304: Not a Tragic Figure Villain Ch 1304.
Not a Tragic Figure On the stage, the heat of the spotlight bore down on Allen.
The barrage of questions from the media didn’t let up, even though this segment was supposed to transition into the demo of the new duel device with Emma.
He could feel the tension-sharp, electric, unrelenting.
Allen adjusted the microphone clipped to his suit, keeping his expression neutral.
Calm.
He’d been through worse.
If he could handle the chaos of the Hell’s Gate battlefields, this was nothing.
Still, the questions were relentless, like a swarm of gnats refusing to leave him alone.
“Mr.
Goldborne,” one reporter began, her voice cutting through the noise.
“When you won the international gaming tournament, did you already know about your connection to the Goldborne family?” Allen glanced at her, his mind briefly flashing back to that victory-the roaring crowd, the adrenaline, the bittersweet triumph.
He shook his head, his voice steady.
“No.
I only found out recently.” A murmur ran through the room, the scribbling of pens and furious typing on laptops filling the silence that followed.
Another reporter jumped in almost immediately.
“Was being a Goldborne the main reason you stopped competing in international tournaments?” Allen resisted the urge to roll his eyes.
Did they think being rich automatically made someone quit their passion?
“No,” he said firmly.
“That wasn’t the reason.
My decision to step back had nothing to do with my family.
It was a personal choice.” The reporter didn’t look convinced but didn’t push further.
Before Allen could catch his breath, another voice chimed in.
“Why did you disappear after the win?
You were at the top of your game, and then… nothing.” Allen’s jaw tightened slightly, but he forced himself to remain composed, his voice calm but carrying a subtle edge.
“I had personal problems to deal with.
They weren’t related to my father or my family, though.
It was my own stuff.” ‘Stuff’ felt like a weak word for the emotional wreckage he’d been sifting through back then, but it was all they were getting.
These people didn’t need to know how he’d spent months piecing himself back together after Sophia, or how every victory felt hollow until he found something worth fighting for again.
The questions kept coming, each one a little sharper, a little more invasive.

“Can you tell us more about your life before all this?” one reporter asked, leaning forward like a predator scenting blood.
Allen hesitated.
How much was he supposed to say?
How much did they deserve to know?
His mind raced as he settled on a safe answer.
“It was… simple,” he said vaguely.
“I worked hard, I played games, and I kept to myself.” The reporter frowned, clearly unsatisfied.
“What about your mother?
Is she still alive?” That one hit harder than he expected.
Allen took a slow breath, choosing his words carefully.
“She’s alive,” he said finally.
“But she doesn’t want to be mentioned in this.
She prefers a peaceful life, away from all of this.” He could see the reporters exchanging looks, their curiosity barely contained.
They wanted more-some juicy detail they could twist into a headline.
But he wasn’t giving them that.
She didn’t need to be dragged into the whirlwind of his new life.
She didn’t want him anyway, and he understood that.
And honestly?
The idea of selling his sad story to these people, painting himself as some neglected, tragic figure-it made his skin crawl.
He wasn’t about to let anyone pity him.
Not for his past, not for his mother’s choices, and definitely not for the complex, messy life he’d carved out for himself.
Sure, if he were a reporter, he’d be salivating over the drama.
But this was his life, not some soap opera for the masses to dissect.
Another reporter, bolder than the rest, stepped up.
“Mr.
Goldborne,” she began, her tone sharp with curiosity, “do you think your mother would ever consider marrying your father now that your connection has been revealed?” The question landed like a bomb.
The room stilled, the air electric with anticipation.
Allen blinked, his usual composed mask faltering for just a split second.
His gaze flicked to the audience, landing on Evan sitting beside Geralt.
Evan caught the look and gave him a small, knowing smile.
It wasn’t mocking or smug-just… understanding and reassuring.
Allen turned back to the reporter, shaking his head slowly.
“No,” he said firmly, his voice steady despite the question.
“She already has a perfect family and is happy.
She’s made it clear that she prefers her current family.” There was a murmur among the press, and a few reporters scribbled furiously on their notepads.
But of course, one wasn’t satisfied.
“So, Mr.
Goldborne and your mother don’t have any feelings for each other at all?” the reporter pressed.
Allen’s jaw tightened, but he kept his cool.
“I think that’s a question for my dad,” he replied smoothly, deflecting with practiced ease.
“I don’t have the capacity to answer that.” The attention immediately shifted to Jordan Goldborne, who was watching the proceedings with his usual air of authority.
He leaned forward slightly, adjusting the cuffs of his tailored suit before speaking into his mic.
“No,” Jordan said plainly, his voice calm but firm.
“I have no feelings for her.
To be honest, I’ve tried to contact her a few times, to talk about this, but she refused me.” The reporters buzzed like a hive of bees, the surprise was clear.
One of them, a younger man with a slightly incredulous look, blurted out, “A woman rejected you?” Most of the audience chuckled, but the disbelief in the room was almost tangible.
Jordan, however, didn’t seem fazed.
He gave a small, almost self-deprecating smile.
“Just because I’m rich doesn’t mean I can get everything I want.
She’s a loyal woman-loyal to her current husband.
And I need to respect that.” Allen’s brows lifted slightly at that.
He hadn’t expected his father to speak with such… humility.
The man was usually all sharp edges and business-like detachment.
But this?
This was different.
