Chapter 1314: Not Because of Money Chapter 1314: Not Because of Money Villain Ch 1314.
Not Because of Money “Hurt, isn’t it?” The sudden male voice at her side startled Sophia.
She quickly turned her head, only to find James standing to her left, casually holding a glass of champagne.
On her right, Noah had appeared just as silently, swirling the drink in his hand like he had all the time in the world.
Both of them were watching Allen and his group of girlfriends with interest, their expressions unreadable.
Despite the irritation bubbling inside her, Sophia forced a polite smile and subtly adjusted her posture, smoothing out her dress.
She knew why they were here.
They weren’t offering friendly conversation-they had come to mock her.
“What did you say?” she asked coolly, taking another sip of her wine, masking her annoyance behind a facade of indifference.
“Just a bit of info you might find interesting,” Noah said, his tone almost too casual, as though he were discussing the weather.
He tilted his head slightly toward the group Allen was with.
“See the woman in the gold dress?” He gestured subtly toward Shea, who was chatting with Zoe and Larissa.
Sophia’s eyes flicked toward Shea briefly before returning to Noah, her expression guarded.
“What about her?” “She’s an investor,” Noah said, smirking slightly.
“Quite a well-known one, actually.
Prefers to stay behind the scenes, but she’s got a lot of influence.” “It’s a shame we didn’t know that before,” James added, taking a sip from his glass.
“Would’ve been useful information back when you manipulated us into siding with you.” Sophia’s fingers tightened slightly around her glass, but her smile didn’t waver.
“Is that so?” “Oh, definitely,” Noah said, his grin widening as though he was enjoying this far too much.
“And that girl in the black dress?” He pointed to Vivian, who was now laughing at something Jane had said.
“She’s not just pretty.
She’s got a rising career in modeling.
Not as famous as my sister yet, but according to her, Vivian’s quite popular.
Just signed a bunch of contracts with big-name companies.” “For photo shoots and runway gigs,” James added, his tone dry but amused.
“Some well-known brands, too.” Sophia’s jaw clenched, though she tried to hide it.
She didn’t need to ask what they were getting at-she could already tell where this conversation was heading.
“And that one over there,” James continued, nodding toward Alice, who was standing a little apart from the group, scrolling through her phone.
“She’s the owner of one of the biggest gaming retail stores in the city.
Her family has a retail kingdom in several cities.
She’s got money-maybe not like us ‘young masters,’ but she’s far from average.” Noah leaned in slightly, lowering his voice as if sharing a secret.
“You know what’s funny?
Follow new episodes on the "N0vel1st.c0m".
They were with Allen before any of us knew he was a Goldborne.” Sophia’s grip tightened on her glass as her irritation grew.
“Then what’s your point?” she snapped, her voice low but sharp.
“Why are you telling me all this?” James exchanged a glance with Noah before smirking.
“Just thought you’d want to know.
You know, in case you were planning to go around saying they’re only with him because he’s rich now.” “Because here’s the thing,” Noah said, swirling his drink again.
“Allen didn’t even know he was a Goldborne until the day Jacob posted that photo of him and Mr.
Goldborne at the hospital.
So, if they’re with him now… well, it’s not because of his money.” Sophia’s teeth clenched so hard she thought she might crack a molar.
She knew exactly what they were implying, and it stung more than she wanted to admit.
They weren’t just mocking her-they were rubbing salt in the wound, pointing out how Allen had moved on, surrounded by people who genuinely cared about him while she… she was left on the sidelines, bitter and alone.
Forcing herself to remain composed, she gave them a cold smile.
“Interesting story.
Are you done now?” “Almost,” James said, his smirk never faltering.
“Just thought you’d appreciate the facts.
After all, wouldn’t want you spreading the wrong idea, would we?” “Yeah,” Noah added, his tone still infuriatingly casual.
“Wouldn’t want people thinking you’re bitter or anything.” Sophia’s eyes flashed with anger, but she kept her expression neutral.
“Thanks for the update.
I’ll keep that in mind.” “Glad we could help,” James said, tipping his glass slightly before taking another sip.
He and Noah turned to leave, smug smiles plastered on their faces.
But before they could take more than a step, Sophia’s voice cut through the air, laced with icy disdain.
“It’s not helping, though,” she said, her tone sharp and biting.
Both James and Noah paused, turning back toward her, curious expressions on their faces.
Sophia swirled her wine once more before taking a slow sip, her eyes never leaving theirs.
“I’m not even sure it’s a fact.
It could just be a narrative you created in your heads.
A delusion.” Noah raised an eyebrow, intrigued but clearly amused.
“A delusion, huh?
Do tell.” Sophia placed her glass down on the nearby table with a quiet clink, folding her arms across her chest.
Her smile was tight, almost condescending.
“Just like Allen now, thinking that a bunch of girls suddenly want him without wanting anything in return.
Just his feelings?
Really?
That sounds naïve and impossible in this day and age.
One girl, maybe.
But that many?
I don’t think so.
That’s not how the world works.” James exchanged a glance with Noah, his smirk widening as he leaned casually against the table.
“Sounds like someone’s bitter.” Sophia’s eyes narrowed, her jaw clenching slightly.
“I’m just being realistic.
People don’t just attach themselves to others out of pure affection.
There’s always a reason.
Always a motive.” Noah chuckled, clearly entertained by her spiraling cynicism.
“Oof… yeah, definitely bitter.
Maybe even a little jealous?” “I’m not jealous,” Sophia snapped, her tone defensive.
“I’m just saying it’s ridiculous to believe they don’t want something from him.
Come on.
He’s suddenly rich, powerful, and getting all this attention.
You really think none of them are after that?” James tilted his head, considering her words.
“Maybe.
Or maybe-crazy thought-they actually like him for who he is.” CREATORS’ THOUGHTS UnholyGod Your gift is the motivation for my creation.
