Chapter 1319: Circling Like Sharks Chapter 1319: Circling Like Sharks Villain Ch 1319.
Circling Like Sharks The older woman, who appeared to be the younger one’s mother, gave Shea a fond smile before turning her attention to Allen.
Her eyes lit up with curiosity.
“I didn’t know you were close to Mr.
Goldborne.” Allen maintained his polite smile, already understanding where this was heading.
He had seen this play out before-people pretending to make small talk, only to maneuver the conversation toward building connections.
Still, he couldn’t blame them.
It was the game they played, and if he wanted to survive in this world, he’d have to play it too.
The younger woman smiled.
“I had no idea Mr.
Goldborne had another child.
It was surprising news for us.” Allen chuckled softly.
“It’s a revelation for everyone.” “Well, it’s a pleasure to meet you,” the older woman said, extending a hand toward Allen.
“I’m Margaret, and this is my daughter, Lila.
Our family has been acquainted with the Goldbornes for quite some time.” Allen took her hand, giving it a light shake.
“Pleasure to meet you too, ma’am.” Lila smiled brightly, her gaze lingering on Allen a little longer than necessary.
“So, how are you finding everything?
It must be… quite the adjustment, right?” “It is,” Allen admitted, keeping his tone polite but measured.
“But I’m learning quickly.
There’s a lot to take in.” Margaret gave an approving nod.
“I’m sure you’ll manage just fine.
With a family like the Goldbornes, you’ll have all the support you need.” Allen’s smile didn’t waver, but he knew what she really meant-connections.
They wanted to align themselves with him before anyone else did.
And while it was a little exhausting, he knew he couldn’t dismiss them outright.
Building connections could be useful, especially in a world where influence mattered more than anything else.
“We should catch up sometime,” Lila said, her tone casual but her eyes calculating.
“It’d be nice to get to know each other better.” Before Allen could respond, Shea stepped in smoothly.
“Maybe later, Lila.
I’m sure Allen has his hands full right now.” Lila’s smile faltered slightly, but she recovered quickly.
“Of course.

Another time, then.” “Definitely,” Allen said, keeping his tone neutral.
Margaret gave a polite nod before turning to Shea.
“We won’t keep you any longer.
It was lovely seeing you again.” Shea returned the nod.
“Likewise.” As the two women walked away, Bella leaned in with a grin.
“Wow, that was subtle.” “Subtle as a freight train,” Zoe muttered, earning a round of quiet laughter.
“Shea, thanks for stepping in,” Allen said, his voice low.
“No problem,” Shea said, her tone light but serious.
“They were circling you like sharks.” “Think they’ll try again later?” Larissa asked.
“Probably,” Allen said with a sigh.
“But it’s part of the game.
I’ll have to get used to it.” “Well, you handled it well,” Vivian said, giving him a reassuring smile.
“Just keep doing that, and you’ll be fine.” Allen gave a small nod, appreciating their support.
For now, all he could do was keep his head up and stay vigilant.
The night was far from over.
The party showed no signs of slowing down-if anything, it was picking up steam.
Guests were still mingling, waiters glided smoothly through the crowd with trays of drinks and hors d’oeuvres, and the atmosphere buzzed with polite conversations, laughter, and the occasional clink of glasses.
As expected, it didn’t take long before more people started approaching Allen.
They came in small groups or pairs, sometimes even alone.
Guests, VIP attendees, people from various business circles-each of them introduced themselves with well-practiced smiles and perfectly rehearsed pleasantries.
They shook hands, exchanged a few words, and inevitably steered the conversation toward something that could benefit them.
Allen played his part well, keeping his expression polite and his demeanor approachable, even though he could already predict most of their intentions.
Thankfully, Kai had been thorough in preparing him for moments like this.
For the past few days, they’d gone over detailed profiles of important guests likely to attend the event.
Kai had drilled into him not just names and faces, but also company histories, personal habits, and even potential weaknesses Allen could use to navigate conversations without being drawn into any traps.
Armed with that knowledge, Allen handled most of the small talk with ease, nodding at the right moments, offering just enough information without revealing too much.
Still, there were moments when things got a little too dicey for his liking.
Some guests weren’t content with mere introductions and light banter.
A few decided to test his limits right then and there.
One man in particular, dressed in an overly flashy suit, leaned in too close and, with a grin that didn’t quite reach his eyes, openly invited Allen to a wild party he was hosting later that night.
The insinuation was clear-it wasn’t the kind of party that ended with polite handshakes and networking.
Allen smiled politely, masking his discomfort.
Before he could think of a way to decline without offending, Vivian appeared at his side, seamlessly sliding into the conversation.
With a few well-placed words and a charming smile, she steered the conversation away from dangerous territory and gave Allen an easy out.
The man, though visibly disappointed, didn’t press further, and Allen silently thanked Vivian for her impeccable timing.
It wasn’t just wild invitations he had to fend off.
A couple of older businessmen tried luring him into impromptu business meetings, subtly hinting at lucrative opportunities.
Allen knew better-Kai had warned him about these types.
They’d offer overpriced goods or useless investments, banking on the inexperience of newly wealthy individuals to score an easy profit.
Whenever one of those conversations started to veer in that direction, one of the girls would intervene, pretending to need Allen for something urgent, allowing him to gracefully excuse himself without offending anyone.
Despite the constant attention and subtle traps, Allen was surprised by one thing-Sophia didn’t approach him.
Not once.
He’d expected her to try something, whether it was an attempt to reconnect or a sly remark meant to undermine him.
Instead, she kept her distance, mingling with other wealthy guests.
Her movements were restless, her eyes darting around the room as if searching for someone or something.
Occasionally, she glanced in Allen’s direction, but she made no move to approach.
What struck Allen as even stranger was the absence of Mr.
Bell.
Earlier, Mr.
Bell had hovered around her like a shadow, but now he was nowhere to be seen.
From what Allen could tell, he seemed busy expanding his own connections, completely forgetting about Sophia.
