- Chapter 1322 - Chapter 1322 Equal, But Not Aligned
Chapter 1322: Equal, But Not Aligned Chapter 1322: Equal, But Not Aligned Villain Ch 1322.
Equal, But Not Aligned Mila studied him carefully, as if weighing the truth of his words.
“So, it wasn’t about keeping it from me specifically?” Allen chuckled softly.
“No.
It wasn’t personal.
I had my reasons, and keeping things low-key was one of them.” Mila exhaled slowly, her posture relaxing slightly.
“You know, that’s… surprisingly reasonable.
I thought it was something more dramatic.” “I get that a lot,” Allen said with a smirk.
“But no, it was just about timing.
Revealing something like this isn’t exactly simple.” Mila sipped her wine thoughtfully.
“I guess that makes sense.
Still, you played it well.
No one saw this coming.” “That was the point,” Allen said simply.
“If people knew too early, they’d have treated me differently.
I needed them to see me for what I could do, not who I was.” Mila nodded slowly, her respect for him visibly growing.
“Fair enough.” She wasn’t the type to hand out compliments freely, but Allen had earned it.
He wasn’t the same person she remembered from their earlier dealings-there was a calm confidence about him now, something grounded and self-assured.
And yet, despite the respect she felt, there was something else too.
Something that gnawed at her, a quiet frustration she couldn’t quite place.
They fell into silence again, standing side by side.
Mila sipped her wine, her eyes flicking toward the dome briefly before drifting back to Allen.
He was focused on the scene ahead, but she could tell his mind was elsewhere- calculating, thinking, planning.
That was one thing she had always admired about him.
He wasn’t loud or flashy like many of the others in their circles.
He played the long game, quietly assessing his moves before making them.
But that distance she felt between them-it hadn’t gone away.
If anything, it had only grown since his newfound status.
Now that Allen was a Goldborne, he was no longer just a promising outsider.
He was someone who belonged to a family with power equal to her own.

“Allen,” Mila said softly, breaking the silence.
Allen glanced at her, his expression calm.
“Hm?” She hesitated for only a moment before speaking again, her voice quieter now, more serious.
“I may have told you this before.
But I’ll say it again… Do I still have a chance?” Allen didn’t respond immediately.
His eyes searched hers, as if trying to gauge her sincerity-or maybe figuring out how to respond without making things worse.
Finally, he sighed, setting down his empty glass.
“You know our relationship is… complicated, right?
You’re literally from Goldborne’s rival company.” Mila’s lips pressed into a thin line.
She had expected that response, but hearing it still stung.
“I know.
But… I can stand on my own.
I don’t want to be defined by my family’s business.” Allen tilted his head slightly, considering her words.
“Will you throw away your family for me?” Mila’s heart skipped a beat.
She hadn’t expected him to put it so bluntly.
Throw away her family?
No, that wasn’t what she wanted.
But… wasn’t it close?
She took a breath, steadying herself before replying.
“Not really thrown away.
I just… don’t want to be their business tool anymore.
I want to have my own decisions, my own life.
I’m tired of being used as a pawn in their games.” Allen was silent, his gaze thoughtful but unreadable.
“Why?” he asked finally, his voice quieter now.
“Am I that valuable to you?
I’m just a random guy who-” “You aren’t just a random guy, Allen,” she interrupted, her tone firm.
Her fingers tightened around the stem of her glass as she tried to gather her thoughts.
“You’re… different.
You’re not like the others in our world.
You’re not driven by greed or status.
You don’t look at people like they’re opportunities to exploit.
You care.
And that’s rare.” Allen’s expression softened slightly, though his eyes remained cautious.
“Mila, I get what you’re saying.
But this isn’t just about us.
Our families… they’ve been at odds for years.
Getting involved with me could make things harder for you.” “I’m already living in a world where everything is hard,” Mila said quietly.
“Whether I’m with you or not, they’ll keep using me.
They’ll keep trying to control me.
At least with you, I get to choose something for myself.” Allen exhaled slowly, his fingers running through his hair as he processed her words.
This wasn’t the first time Mila had hinted at wanting something more between them, but tonight, it felt different-more real, more serious.
“I’m not saying it’ll be easy,” Mila continued, her voice steady despite the vulnerability in her eyes.
“I know what’s at stake.
I know the risks.
But I’m tired, Allen.
Tired of living by their rules.
I want to live by mine.” He looked at her for a long moment, as if weighing everything she had just said.
There was a part of him that wanted to believe her, to trust that this wasn’t just another move in a game he didn’t fully understand.
But there was also a part of him that remained wary, knowing how quickly things could change in their world.
“I can’t give you an answer right now,” Allen said finally, his voice calm but firm.
“There’s too much going on.
Too many moving pieces.” Mila nodded slowly, a hint of disappointment flickering across her face.
But she understood.
This wasn’t something that could be resolved in one conversation.
“I get it.
Just… think about it, okay?” “I will,” Allen said, his tone softening.
“I promise.” Mila gave a small nod, acknowledging his words, though it didn’t entirely ease the knot in her chest.
Promises were fine, but they weren’t guarantees.
Still, it was better than outright rejection, better than the cold distance she had felt the last time they met in this same building.
She told herself that progress, no matter how small, was still progress.
Another silence fell between them, but it wasn’t uncomfortable.
Allen’s gaze remained fixed on the dome, where Noah and James were finishing their session.
They exited the capsule with broad grins, exchanging a few words with the staff before blending back into the crowd.
Mila, on the other hand, found herself unable to stop looking at Allen.
