Chapter 1329: Old Flames, New Fire Chapter 1329: Old Flames, New Fire Villain Ch 1329.
Old Flames, New Fire Azura’s father raised an eyebrow, clearly intrigued.
“Godlike, you say?
I’ve heard that name before.
Didn’t you compete in the International Championship like Azura?” Allen gave a small nod.
“That’s right.
I met Azura in that tournament before.
As an opponent.
I also worked as a photographer and occasionally modeled.
You might’ve seen my face in a few places-magazines, internet campaigns.” A woman across the table leaned forward, her eyes narrowing slightly as if trying to place him.
“Fashion magazine… Urban Enigma.
I’ve seen you there.” The man beside her looked surprised.
“Really?
Where?” The woman smiled faintly, her tone amused.
“He was featured in a spread about rising new models with antique costumes.
Quite a few fans, if I recall correctly.” Allen managed to keep his expression neutral, though inwardly he was cringing a little.
‘Great.
Now I sound like some random internet celebrity.’ He caught Azura’s glance, and he could tell she was fighting back a smirk.
“It was a side gig,” Allen said casually, trying to downplay it.
“Photography was my main focus at the time.” “Well, you’ve certainly had an interesting journey,” another man said, his tone somewhere between impressed and skeptical.
“E-sports, photography, modeling… not exactly what we’d expect from a future Goldborne.” Allen shrugged lightly, keeping his voice steady.
“I believe experience comes in many forms.
What I’ve done may not be traditional, but it’s taught me how to adapt, think on my feet, and work under pressure.
Skills I think will be valuable in this world too.” Azura’s father gave a small nod, seemingly satisfied with the answer.
“Fair point.
Adaptability is crucial, especially in a family like ours.” Before anyone else could speak, Azura decided to step in, her voice cool and composed.
“Allen’s already proven he can handle himself under pressure.
Tonight’s announcement was one example, but he handled it well.
That speaks to his ability to adapt.” There was a brief silence as her words sank in.
Allen could feel the subtle shift in the room-Azura’s support carried weight, and it seemed to have an effect on the gathered families.

He was grateful for it, though he didn’t let it show too much.
“So,” one of the younger men said, breaking the silence with a curious tone, “are you planning to stay involved in e-sports or modeling, or is that chapter closed now that you’re a Goldborne?” Allen smiled faintly.
“I haven’t decided yet.
Right now, my focus is on understanding my new role and figuring out where I can contribute the most.” “Smart answer,” the man said with a grin.
“Keep your options open.” The conversation continued for a while longer, with more questions about Allen’s past, his interests, and his plans for the future.
He answered each one as best he could, keeping his tone respectful but firm.
He knew these people were testing him, trying to figure out who he was and whether he could be trusted-or manipulated.
Every word he said felt like a chess move, carefully calculated and deliberate.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Jordan cleared his throat.
“I believe that’s enough for tonight.
Let’s allow Allen some time to enjoy the rest of the evening.” The guests rose from their seats, offering polite farewells and brief handshakes.
Allen returned the gestures with a steady composure, though inside he was more than ready to be done with this round of social acrobatics.
He caught Azura’s father’s gaze one last time before the man nodded slightly, a silent message that Allen understood well enough.
‘You’ve passed, for now.’ With the formalities over, Allen excused himself from the group, and Azura decided to do the same.
They stepped out of the VIP room, the noise from the main hall grew louder-laughter, chatter, clinking glasses.
Azura turned to Allen, her formal demeanor slipping slightly as a genuine smile curved her lips.
“Not bad.
I think you impressed them.” Allen exhaled slowly, the tension in his shoulders finally easing.
“That was… intense.” Kai appeared at his side, his usual calm expression replaced by a faint grin of approval.
“You handled it well.
Better than I expected.” “Thanks,” Allen said, running a hand through his hair.
“But I have a feeling this is just the beginning.” “Oh, it is,” Azura said with a smirk.
“Welcome to the world of family politics.
It only gets messier from here.” They moved further away from the VIP room.
Allen turned to Azura.
“So, what was it you wanted to talk about?” Azura glanced at Kai, who raised an eyebrow in silent question.
“Should I leave?” he asked, his tone professional but light.
Azura shook her head.
“That’s not necessary.” She turned back to Allen, her expression shifting to something more serious.
“I just wanted to let you know… my family bought a penthouse in the building near the Goldborne mansion.” Allen blinked, surprised by the sudden news.
“Okay… and?” Azura gave him a look that said he should’ve figured it out by now.
“I might be living there after this.” “For what?” Allen asked, his tone somewhere between curiosity and mild suspicion.
Azura folded her arms, her eyes locking onto his.
“I want to be with you.” Her statement caught Allen off guard.
He wasn’t used to Azura being this blunt, at least not in situations like this.
He opened his mouth to respond, but before he could, she added, “Don’t get the wrong idea.
I told my family that I’ll keep an eye on you, so I need to stay close to make sure you don’t taint the Goldborne name.” Allen couldn’t help but smirk at her reasoning.
“So, you’re basically using me as an excuse to get some independence from your family?” “I am independent already,” Azura shrugged, a mischievous glint in her eyes.
“I’m genuinely concerned about you.
You’ve got a habit of attracting trouble, after all.
Also… I want to follow my heart.
You know what I mean.” Allen gave her a sidelong glance, the corner of his mouth twitching slightly.
‘Follow her heart, huh?’ He wasn’t sure if Azura was being serious or just messing with him, but something about the way she said it felt… different.
Not playful, not mocking, but sincere.
Still, this wasn’t the time to unpack whatever that meant.
