Chapter 1341: Fired?
Chapter 1341: Fired?
Villain Ch 1341.
Fired?
Sophia’s fingers trembled as she reached for another photo frame on her desk.
Her lips pressed into a thin line, a storm brewing behind her eyes.
The frame wasn’t anything special-just a stock photo that came with the cheap, gold-colored plastic.
She hadn’t even bothered to replace it with something personal.
Maybe she’d never thought this job was worth it.
Or maybe she just didn’t want to leave behind anything that could be called “hers” when this moment came.
She sighed heavily, brushing a strand of hair out of her face as she placed the frame in the cardboard box beside her.
The box wasn’t even half-full, but it already felt heavier than it should.
Everything felt heavier today.
The room was quiet, suffocatingly so.
It should’ve been peaceful, but to Sophia, it was mocking.
A silence that said, ‘Look at you.
You thought you’d be someone, didn’t you?’ Her chest ached.
She tried to ignore it, but the feeling wouldn’t leave her alone.
Pain, anger, frustration-it all churned inside her, making her grip tighten on the edge of the box.
“Ugh…” she muttered, her voice low but sharp.
She stared at the cupid figurine in her hand, a silly little trinket she’d bought on a whim to make her desk look less lifeless.
Now it just felt like an insult.
Her fingers slipped.
The figurine tumbled into the box, a soft crunch following as it hit the edge.
Sophia froze, staring at the broken cupid with wide eyes.
A jagged crack ran through the little ceramic wings, splitting them in two.
She picked it up carefully, her lips pressing together harder as if trying to hold back a scream.
“Of course,” she muttered bitterly.
“Of course it breaks.
Just like everything else.” She sank into her chair, clutching the broken figurine in her hands.

It wasn’t like losing this job was the end of the world.
She wasn’t some nobody.
She could find another job easily enough.
She had the looks, the skills, and the connections.
But… the privileges were gone.
The company car that chauffeured her around.
The free dinners Mr.
Bell occasionally provided when he was in a good mood.
The little perks that made her life just a bit more comfortable.
Those were things she couldn’t replace so easily.
Her mind wandered back to last night.
The wine, the security guards, Mr.
Bell’s irritated expression as they dragged her to him.
She knew she’d screwed up, but could anyone blame her?
Her ex-boyfriend-Allen, of all people-had turned out to be a Goldborne.
A freaking Goldborne!
The future heir to a gaming empire!
Who wouldn’t be stressed out by something like that?
And what had Mr.
Bell done?
Nothing.
He’d left her alone, surrounded by strangers, while he flitted from one investor to another, sucking up like his life depended on it.
‘It’s not all my fault,’ she thought angrily, gripping the cupid tighter.
Her knuckles whitened.
‘Okay, maybe I drank too much.
But what else was I supposed to do?
Smile and act like everything was fine?
Like seeing Allen, looking all polished and powerful, didn’t feel like a slap in the face?’ She groaned, dropping the cupid back into the box with a loud clatter.
She couldn’t even muster the energy to care if it broke further.
Her eyes drifted to the empty desk across from her, the one Vivian had been sitting at just this morning.
Vivian, with her perfect hair and perfect smile, waltzed into the agency like she owned the place.
And Mr.
Bell?
He hadn’t even bothered to hide how awkward he was around her.
Sophia scoffed, rolling her eyes.
“What a joke,” she muttered.
She could still see Vivian’s smug little smile as she walked away, the tension between her and Mr.
Bell practically radiating.
Sophia didn’t need to ask to know what had happened.
Mr.
Bell’s career was on the line now, thanks to last night.
And Vivian?
She was just the type to twist the knife.
Still, as much as Sophia wanted to pin the blame on everyone else, a small, nagging voice in the back of her mind whispered, You did this to yourself.
She hated that voice.
She wanted to crush it, drown it out with excuses and justifications.
But it was persistent, refusing to let her off the hook.
Her gaze drifted to the half-empty box on her desk.
She had worked hard here, hadn’t she?
Maybe not as hard as some, but she’d done her part.
She’d shown up, smiled when she didn’t feel like it, and played the game.
And now?
Now she was being shown the door.
Just like that.
Her phone buzzed on the desk, breaking her spiral of thoughts.
She picked it up, half-hoping it was a message from Mr.
Bell, telling her there’d been a mistake.
But no, it was just a notification from a gaming forum.
She clicked on it without thinking, the headline catching her eye.
“Pro Gamer Turned Goldborne Heir-The Rise of Godlike.” Her stomach twisted as she read the article.
They had a picture of Allen, looking every bit the confident young master, standing at the center of the event last night.
Her chest tightened.
Sophia’s grip on her phone tightened as she stared at the headline again, the picture of Allen practically glowing with confidence.
His polished suit, his composed smile-it was infuriating.
He looked untouchable, like someone who had never known failure, let alone the sting of betrayal.
She felt the urge to throw her phone across the room, to shatter it against the wall just like her pride had been shattered the night before.
But she didn’t.
No, she couldn’t.
Sophia took a deep, shaky breath, forcing herself to calm down.
She needed to think straight.
Lashing out now wouldn’t solve anything.
If anything, it would only make things worse.
Her eyes fell on the cracked cupid sitting in the box on her desk.
The silly little trinket that now seemed like a perfect metaphor for her life.
She picked it up, turning it over in her hands.
The broken wings, the jagged cracks-they felt symbolic.
Right, she thought, her lips curling into a bitter smile.
