Chapter 1346: Speak of The Devil!
Villain Ch 1346.
Speak of The Devil!
The warm glow of the tavern in Ront City cast a cozy light over the group, the crackle of the fireplace mixing with the faint hum of chatter from other patrons.
Elio sat at the corner table, swirling his mug of ale absentmindedly.
Across from him, Gil leaned back in his chair, looking smug, while Red_King and MasterCraft eyed him with curiosity.
Father^Alex sipped quietly from his own mug, his eyes darting between the group like a nervous spectator.
“Alright, Gil,” Red_King began, his voice laced with mock accusation.
“Spill it.
What were you doing at the event yesterday?
You’re not even the winners.” Gil grinned, folding his arms.
“What?
Can’t a guy show up to support his friends?” MasterCraft raised an eyebrow.
“Support?
Or were you just there for the free food and drinks?” The table chuckled, but Elio stayed silent, his thoughts clearly elsewhere.
Gil shrugged, unfazed by the teasing.
“Alright, fine.
I was there because Gerry dragged me along.
Said it’d be good for me to network or something.” Red_King laughed, shaking his head.
“Networking at a Goldborne event?
That’s a bold move for someone who hates dressing up.” Gil smirked.
“Hey, I clean up well when I need to.
Besides, you should’ve seen it.
That event was something else.
The new tech, the fights…” He glanced at Elio.
“Speaking of, Elio here put on quite the show.” MasterCraft turned to Elio, intrigued.
“Yeah?
I heard you fought Allen.
How’d that go?” Elio finally snapped out of his thoughts, glancing up at the group.

“It was… intense,” he admitted.
“But he’s on another level.
It wasn’t even close.” Father^Alex tilted his head, his voice hesitant.
“Allen’s always been good, but now… he’s Goldborne.
Do you think that’s why he’s so different?” Elio frowned, the memory of Allen’s movements and that unnerving smirk flashing in his mind.
“It’s not just that,” he said slowly.
“There’s something about him.
The way he fights, the way he carries himself… it’s like he’s been holding back this whole time.” Red_King leaned forward, his eyes narrowing.
“You’re saying he’s been hiding his true skill?
Why?” Elio hesitated, choosing his words carefully.
“Maybe it wasn’t the right time.
Or maybe… he had his reasons.” Gil snorted.
“Sounds cryptic.
You sure you’re not just overthinking it?” Mastercraft chimed in, his tone thoughtful.
“I don’t know.
If Allen’s been hiding something, it makes sense now.
Being a Goldborne means playing your cards close to your chest.” “Exactly,” Elio said, his grip tightening on his mug.
“And now, with this new device and all the attention on him… I think we’re finally seeing the real Allen.” Father^Alex glanced at Elio nervously.
“Does that bother you?” Elio let out a long breath, leaning back in his chair.
“It’s not that.
It’s just… surprising.
The Allen I knew two years ago isn’t the same guy I fought yesterday.
He’s sharper.
More calculated.” Gil leaned forward, his grin widening.
“Sounds like you’ve got a rivalry brewing.” “It’s not like that,” Elio said quickly, though the idea lingered in his mind.
“I just… want to understand him.” Red_King chuckled, taking a swig of his drink.
“Good luck with that.
If he’s a Goldborne, he’s probably got layers upon layers of secrets.” Mastercraft nodded in agreement.
“And connections.
Don’t forget that.
People like him have a whole network at their disposal.” Gil raised an eyebrow at Elio.
“So, what’s the plan?
You gonna challenge him again?” Elio shook his head.
“Not yet.
I need to figure out a few things first.” Father^Alex shifted uncomfortably.
“Do you think he’s hiding more than just his skill?” Elio didn’t answer right away, his gaze drifting to the flickering flames in the fireplace.
“Maybe,” he said finally.
“But if he is, he’s not going to make it easy to find out.” The others at the table exchanged looks, Red_King raising an eyebrow and Mastercraft scratching the back of his head.
Then, a voice broke the silence.
Smooth, calm, and far too familiar.
“I’m still the main topic of conversation, huh?
Even here?” The group whipped around, their eyes locking onto the empty chair at the edge of their table.
Before they could react, a shadow flickered, and then he appeared-Al, the Shadow Reaper, clad in his hooded outfit.
Gil was the first to recover, a grin spreading across his face.
“Speak of the devil!” Red_King leaned back, crossing his arms.
“And here I thought you’d gone full corporate after yesterday’s event.” Allen-or rather, Al-pressed a gloved finger to his lips, the faintest smirk tugging at his lips.
“Keep your voices down, will you?
I’d rather not announce my presence to the entire tavern.” Elio blinked, his mind racing as he tried to process Allen’s sudden appearance.
“You’re… online?
After everything that happened yesterday?” Allen leaned back in the chair, his posture relaxed yet commanding.
“Why wouldn’t I be?
This is still my game.
I just can’t participate in events.
I’m here to hang out, socialize, and test a few things.
Nothing serious.” MasterCraft’s eyes narrowed.
“Test things?
You mean bugs and glitches?” Allen nodded.
“Exactly.
It’s one of the reasons I stayed.
Al’s skills are perfect for stress-testing the mechanics.” Gil snorted.
“Stress-testing, huh?
You sure you’re not just here to spy on us?” Allen chuckled softly, his tone light but with an edge of mischief.
“Wouldn’t you like to know?” Red_King leaned forward, resting his elbows on the table.
“Alright, then.
What brings the great Al to our little corner of the world tonight?” Allen’s gaze swept over the group, lingering on Elio for a moment longer than the others.
“Curiosity, mostly.
I heard some interesting conversations happening here.
Figured I’d drop by and see for myself.” Elio stiffened slightly under Allen’s gaze but quickly masked it with a casual shrug.
“Interesting conversations, huh?
Care to elaborate?” Allen’s smirk widened.
“Oh, you know.
Things about me.
My skills, my connections, my supposed secrets.
All very flattering, really.” Gil laughed, shaking his head.
“You’re as cocky as ever.” “And you’re as blunt as ever,” Allen shot back, his tone playful but firm.
