Chapter 1372: Something Nasty Chapter 1372: Something Nasty Villain Ch 1372.
Something Nasty Gil rubbed his face.
“Holy shit.” The priest let out a low whistle.
“If that’s true… what the hell does she have on him?” Noah whistled under his breath.
“Probably something nasty.” Elio let out a slow, heavy sigh, rubbing his temple like he was trying to push out a headache.
“Damn… damn…” He muttered under his breath, pacing slightly.
Truth was, he felt relieved.
He had dodged a bullet.
Whatever this was, whatever tangled web Sophia was weaving, at least he hadn’t gotten himself in too deep with her.
He had walked away before things could get ugly.
And now, seeing how much of a mess this whole situation was turning into, he could only thank his past self for stepping away when he did.
James grinned, leaning back against a tree.
“I see you guys are very interested in all this.” Gil shrugged, but there was a spark of curiosity in his eyes.
“To be honest?
Yeah.
I mean, this isn’t just some dumb drama anymore.
If she’s really pulling strings like this, then who knows how deep it goes?” Noah smirked.
“Want me to help you guys out?” He cracked his knuckles, looking way too excited.
“My sis is a high-class model.
She’s got connections in these kinds of circles.
Maybe she can ask around, dig up something from the agency.
These industries are all tangled up in each other.” James raised an eyebrow.
“That’s actually… a solid idea.” Gil whistled.
“Damn, we’re really going all out, huh?” James smirked.
“Should we just hire a detective at this point?” Gil blinked.
“Can you guys actually do that?” James and Noah exchanged a glance before bursting into laughter.
James grinned.
“Gil, my guy, we’re rich dudes.” Noah nodded, smirking.
“Money for something like this?
Barely a dent.
Follow new episodes on the "N0vel1st.c0m".
This isn’t a big deal.
It’s just a small investment for some… entertainment.” Elio rolled his eyes.
“You two are ridiculous.” James just shrugged.
“Hey, if you’re gonna stir the pot, might as well do it properly.” Elio exhaled sharply, shaking his head.
“Instead of all that, how about we just talk to Darren and Liam again?” Noah tilted his head.
“You think they’d actually tell us anything?” Elio crossed his arms.
“Maybe.
If we approach it the right way.
James and Noah, you two can be the go-betweens.
We don’t go in demanding answers-we go in offering help.” James tapped his fingers against his chin.
“Not bad.
If they are being blackmailed, then the idea that we can get them out of it might make them talk.” Gil hummed.
“But what if they refuse?
What if they double down and stay quiet?” James smirked.
“Then we really start digging.” Noah cracked his knuckles.
“Yeah, I’ve been meaning to practice my persuasion skills.” The priest let out an exasperated sigh.
“You guys are terrifying.” James grinned.
“Thanks.” Elio exhaled, glancing at the flickering flames.
“Whatever dirt she has on Darren and Liam… it’s probably the same thing that happened with that higher-up.” James nodded.
“Makes sense.” Noah tapped his fingers against his knee, his mind clearly working through the possibilities.
“If I had to throw out a random analysis here, the dirt she has on that higher-up is either related to an affair or… money.” He leaned forward, his smirk dark.
“Like corruption or something nasty.” Elio muttered under his breath.
“Affair, huh?” His fingers twitched slightly.
James raised an eyebrow.
“You sound like you already know something.” Elio didn’t answer right away.
He wouldn’t call it knowledge, exactly.
But if he had to put money on it, he’d bet on the affair.
It just fit with what he knew about Sophia.
She had always played that fake sweet, innocent girl act a little too well.
The kind of girl who knew exactly how to manipulate people, exactly how to play the part that got her what she wanted.
Gil leaned back.
“So, what’s the next move?” Elio glanced at Noah.
“Think your sister can start asking questions?” Noah nodded.
“Yeah.
I’ll call her first thing in the morning.” James cracked his knuckles.
“And we’ll set up a ‘friendly’ chat with Darren and Liam.” Gil smirked.
“I love how we’re casually strategizing like this is a boss fight.” Elio sighed.
“Feels like one.” James grinned.
“Good.
I like a good challenge.” Elio rolled his eyes, but there was a small smirk tugging at his lips.
“Just don’t get too cocky.
This is a different kind of game.” James’ grin widened.
“Oh, trust me.
I know.” Elio sighed, rubbing his temples.
“I swear, I don’t know if I should be relieved or worried that you’re enjoying this.” James laughed.
“A little bit of both, probably.” Gil smirked.
“Hey, at least it’s not boring.
I mean, come on-how often do we get wrapped up in something this juicy?
It’s like a goddamn mystery novel, but we’re the main characters.” Noah raised an eyebrow.
“And here I thought we were just here to grind mobs.” Elio shot him a look.
“We were here to grind mobs.
Then this conversation happened.” Noah grinned.
“Well, gotta admit, it’s more interesting than just mindlessly farming XP.” James chuckled.
“Glad you see it my way.
Now, back to business-we need to figure out when and where to talk to Darren and Liam.” Elio thought for a second.
“They’ll be around tomorrow.
If we don’t want to make it too obvious, we should run into them casually, somewhere neutral.” Gil leaned back, resting his arms behind his head.
“The market, maybe?
It’s public, so they won’t freak out, and we can ease into the conversation.” James nodded.
“Yeah, that works.
We don’t hit them with the heavy stuff right away.
Just… get a feel for where their heads are at.” The sorcerer, who had been unusually quiet throughout the entire conversation, suddenly spoke up, looking between them with an amused expression.
“Um… so are we gonna continue our hunt or not?” James grinned.
“Of course!
Me and Noah just got here!
Let’s go, guys!” Noah smirked, already reaching for his bow.
“Let’s at least make the trip worth it.” CREATORS’ THOUGHTS UnholyGod Your gift is the motivation for my creation.
