Bluffs James smirked, playing his next card.
“Yeah, well… we met her there.
Talked a bit.” The smiles on Liam and Darren’s faces immediately disappeared.
Darren’s fingers twitched slightly against his potion bottle.
“You guys were there?” Elio nodded, tilting his head.
“Yeah.
These two here are rich people.
Something similar to Allen.
Young masters.” Liam narrowed his eyes slightly.
“…So?” James’s smirk grew.
He leaned in slightly, lowering his voice just enough to make it sound confidential.
“So, she talked to us… about a little secret you guys have.” Silence.
Liam and Darren barely moved, but something changed in their expressions.
James continued, voice smooth.
“Something that makes you have to obey her.” Liam’s jaw tensed.
“Did she send you guys?” Noah scoffed.
“No.
On the contrary…” He exchanged a glance with James before looking back at them.
“We want to help you guys.” Liam and Darren didn’t answer right away.
Instead, they subtly looked around, scanning the area.
Then, in almost perfect sync, both of them lifted their hands and made quick, practiced gestures.
A second later, the stall vanished-dismantled in the blink of an eye, packed up using a skill designed for mobile vendors.
The weapons, potions, and supplies all disappeared into their inventories.
Liam adjusted his gloves, voice lower now.
“We should talk somewhere else.” Darren flicked his hood up.
“Yeah.
Somewhere… private.” Elio, James, and Noah exchanged another quick glance.
‘Bingo!’ Elio smirked slightly, keeping his expression casual.
“How about The Order of Valiance’s VIP room?” Liam and Darren both turned to him, considering.
Follow new episodes on the "N0vel1st.c0m".
“It’s near here,” Elio continued, “and it’s private.” Liam glanced at Darren, and after a beat, Darren gave a small nod.
Liam turned back to them.
“Let’s go.” No one spoke as they made their way through the marketplace, moving past crowds of players and NPCs.
The Order of Valiance’s headquarters loomed ahead-a grand structure built into the side of the city’s fortified walls.
Elio led them through the entrance, nodding at a few familiar faces before guiding them toward a corridor that led to the private rooms.
A few moments later, they stepped into a dimly lit chamber lined with bookshelves, a long mahogany table sitting in the center.
The door shut behind them with a soft click.
Liam wasted no time.
He turned to James, his expression unreadable.
“Alright.
Now talk.
What exactly did she tell you?” James leaned against the table, arms crossed.
“Your little secret.” Darren’s eyes narrowed.
“What secret?” James gave him a knowing look.
“Something she’s holding over you.
Something that made you obey her.” Darren exhaled, rubbing the back of his neck.
“Only us here.
Tell me what it is.” James tilted his head slightly, his smirk unwavering.
“You tell me.
We’ve heard from her side, now I want to hear the story from your side.” Darren frowned.
“That sounds unconvincing.” Liam scoffed.
“She’s a manipulative bitch, but she’s not stupid.” James smirked, pushing off the table slightly.
“Then why did she mention your names?” Darren’s expression flickered for just a second-small, but enough for James to catch.
Liam, however, recovered fast.
“Cut the crap.
What exactly did she say?” James exhaled through his nose, giving them a slow, amused look.
“You guys really wanna hear it from me?” Noah leaned forward.
“I mean, we already know.
We just want to see if you will say it first.” Silence.
Then, a shift.
Liam’s eyes flickered with something sharp.
He and Darren exchanged a look-quick, but enough to confirm their suspicion.
They knew.
James was bluffing.
Darren scoffed, shaking his head.
“You don’t know shit, do you?” Liam’s shoulders tensed slightly before he sighed.
“Unbelievable.” James didn’t move.
He kept his smirk in place, his expression unreadable.
“You seem pretty convinced about that.” Liam frowned, stepping back toward the door.
“This was a waste of time.” Darren followed, his voice tight.
“Whatever you think you know, forget it.
This conversation’s over.” They reached for the door handle, but before they could pull it open- Elio’s voice cut through the room.
“We’re here to help.” Liam hesitated.
Darren stilled.
James pushed off the table, his smirk gone.
“She trampled you, Liam.
She bragged about it.
She mentioned it to us.
Don’t you want revenge?” Liam clenched his jaw.
Noah, who had been silent for a moment, finally spoke.
His voice was steady, calculated.
“Tell us.
We can help you.
We know many lawyers.” Silence hung in the air like a blade waiting to drop.
Then-something shifted.
Liam exhaled sharply, turning back toward them.
Darren stayed quiet, but his fists were clenched at his sides.
Liam’s voice was low, almost dangerous.
“You really want to know?” James met his gaze without flinching.
“Yes.” Liam hesitated.
Then-finally-he spoke.
“Sophia blackmailed us,” he said, voice tight.
“With something.” Elio crossed his arms.
“What?” Liam’s jaw tightened.
“A recording.” Noah narrowed his eyes.
“What kind of recording?” Liam’s throat bobbed as he swallowed hard.
His fingers curled into a fist before he forced himself to say it.
“A sex tape,” he admitted.
Silence settled once again.
Elio’s expression darkened.
James didn’t blink.
“Of you and Sophia?” Liam exhaled sharply.
“Me, Darren, and Sophia.” Darren closed his eyes, his shoulders rising and falling as if trying to keep his breathing steady.
Liam’s voice was barely above a whisper now.
“And the role is… we as if… raped her.” The words dropped like a hammer.
No one spoke.
Not for a long time.
James’s fingers twitched at his sides.
Elio’s jaw clenched.
Noah slowly let out a breath, his gaze locked onto Liam’s.
“You’re saying… She staged it?” Liam gave a bitter chuckle.
“Of course she did.” Darren finally spoke.
His voice was hoarse.
“It was supposed to be some… game.
Some ‘thrill’ thing.
We were drunk.
She recorded it.” His fists clenched.
“And now?
If we don’t do what she says, she threatens to leak it-to make it look like a crime.” Liam scoffed.
“She owns us.
One word from her, and we’re done.” James exhaled slowly.
“Shit.” Noah rubbed his temple.
