- Chapter 1413 - Chapter 1413 It’s Not Fine
Chapter 1413: It’s Not Fine Chapter 1413: It’s Not Fine Villain Ch 1413.
It’s Not Fine Allen lowered the phone slowly, staring at the screen.
His chest ached.
His pulse throbbed in his ears.
His hands felt numb, but his jaw was so tight it hurt.
It was always like this.
And yet- It never got any easier.
Allen exhaled sharply, dragging a hand down his face as he leaned against the wall.
His back pressed into the cool surface, his head tilting up toward the ceiling.
His eyes fluttered shut as he took a slow, deep breath, trying to shake off the weight pressing down on his chest.
“Yeah…” he muttered under his breath.
“Shit happens.” Somehow, he had adopted that mentality a long time ago.
There were things he couldn’t control.
Things he shouldn’t try to control.
His mother’s choices?
Her decision to erase him from her life?
That was on her.
Not him.
He wasn’t going to waste time blaming her or feeling bitter about it.
That’s just how life is.
Some people chose their paths, and he had to accept it.
His jaw clenched slightly, then relaxed as he let out another breath.
“Guess I should go back, huh?” he muttered to himself, pushing off the wall.
But just as he turned around… She was there.
Standing right there, like a ghost in the night.
Allen jerked back, his breath catching for a split second before recognition hit him.
“Jane.” His frown deepened.
“What the hell?
You scared me.” Jane just stood there.
No grin.

No smug remark.
No teasing, dirty comments that made him question how corrupt her mind was.
She just looked at him.
Seriously.
And that… wasn’t normal.
Allen’s brows furrowed.
“You good?” Jane tilted her head slightly, her eyes searching his face, like she was studying him.
“That was from your mom, wasn’t it?” Allen froze.
He knew that look.
That version of Jane.
Not the one who made ridiculous comments to play with his body.
Not the one who sent unhinged memes at three in the morning.
No, this was Jane being serious.
The side of her that came out when she actually cared.
Allen sighed, rubbing the back of his neck.
“Yeah.” Her lips pressed together.
“I figured.” Allen raised an eyebrow.
“How?” Jane exhaled.
“Saw your face before you left.
You got that look.” Allen let out a short, ironic chuckle.
“Right…” It was hard to fool Jane.
For all her unhinged moments, she was sharp.
Too sharp.
She had this weird ability to pick up on things people tried to hide, and yeah, sometimes she used that skill for pure chaos, but other times… Other times, she read between the lines when no one else could.
And she always got him.
She crossed her arms, watching him.
“So… how bad was it?” Allen huffed a laugh, though it lacked any real humor.
“Exactly as bad as you think it was.” Jane gave him a knowing look.
Allen shook his head.
“She said she already has the ‘family she wants’ and doesn’t want me in her life.
Also she mentioned about the media and stuff.
” Jane didn’t react.
Not immediately.
Then she just sighed.
“Wow.
What a b*tch.” Allen chuckled, more genuinely this time.
“Blunt as always.” Jane shrugged.
“What?
I mean, come on.
That’s cold as hell.” Allen ran a hand through his hair.
“Not like I expected anything else.” “Yeah, but still.” Jane shifted slightly, her expression tightening.
“She basically just told you to pretend she doesn’t exist, right?” Allen’s lips pressed together.
“Yeah.” Jane’s jaw clenched.
“Again.” Allen didn’t respond.
Because yeah.
Again.
She had done this before.
This whole distance thing, this whole ‘don’t talk about me, don’t mention me, don’t be part of my life’ thing.
She had drawn the line years ago, and yet, every time she had a reason to talk to him, she reminded him of it all over again.
And somehow, it still stung.
Jane exhaled, shaking her head.
“You know what I hate about this?” Allen raised a brow.
“What?” Jane crossed her arms.
“You.
You’re just taking it.” Allen blinked.
“…What?” Jane gestured vaguely at him.
“You’re standing here, acting like this is normal, like this is just some shit you have to accept.” Allen sighed.
“Jane-” “No.” She cut him off, taking a step closer.
“You don’t even look mad.
You just-just took that and let it sit inside you, like it’s fine.
It’s not fine.” Allen ran a hand down his face.
“It is what it is.” Jane narrowed her eyes.
“Bullshit.” Allen huffed, tilting his head back.
“Look, I already know how this works.
She made her choice.
She wants her ‘perfect family.’ I’m not part of it.
That’s it.
That’s the reality.” Jane crossed her arms, her foot tapping against the floor in irritation.
“So?
Just because it’s reality doesn’t mean it doesn’t suck.” Allen shook his head.
“I’ve had years to get used to it.” “Doesn’t mean you should have to.” Allen just stared at her for a moment.
Because… She had a point.
He knew she had a point.
But what was he supposed to do?
Wallow?
Get angry?
Throw a fit over something he couldn’t change?
No.
He wasn’t doing that.
Allen exhaled slowly.
“Jane.
I get it.
But I’m not gonna waste my time being bitter about it.” Jane tilted her head.
“Being bitter and acknowledging your feelings aren’t the same thing.” Allen opened his mouth-then paused.
Because yeah.
That hit different.
And Jane knew it.
The corner of her mouth twitched slightly.
“See?
I’m right, aren’t I?” Allen exhaled.
“I guess.” Then-a pause.
Jane’s expression softened just slightly.
“Hey,” she said, voice quieter now.
“You okay?” Allen let out a slow breath.
And for once, he didn’t try to fake a smile.
“Yeah,” he said.
“I will be.” Jane nodded.
“Good.” Then she grabbed his wrist and started pulling him back toward the room.
Allen blinked.
“Now come on,” Jane said, grinning again.
“The others are probably getting suspicious.
If we take too long, Zoe’s gonna start making up some weird scenarios about us.” Allen sighed, already dreading whatever insanity was waiting for him on the other side of that door.
But he left some of his weight had been lifted.
Maybe just a little.
