Chapter 1426: Pile of Dead Weight Chapter 1426: Pile of Dead Weight Villain Ch 1426.
Pile of Dead Weight “I wonder if we gave her trauma?” Jane mused as they strolled through the ruined halls of Death Pit’s third floor, stepping over the scorched remnants of the Arcane Wardens.
The dungeon was eerily quiet now, filled only with the distant, echoing wails of ghost-type monsters lurking in the shadows.
The stench of burnt flesh and residual magic still lingered in the air.
The others stopped walking and turned to stare at Jane like she’d just asked if water was wet.
Shea folded her arms.
“You were one of the ones torturing her, yet you’re just thinking about that now?” Vivian flicked her whip, letting it snap against the floor for emphasis.
“Too late for that.
If she didn’t have trauma before, she sure as hell has it now.” Jane shrugged.
“Just wondering.” Bella rolled her eyes.
“Nah.
No trauma.
I saw rage though.
Like bad rage.” Alice raised an eyebrow.
“At Allen?” Larissa smirked.
“Nah.
I think it was about something else.” Allen let out a short, amused huff as he stepped over a pile of ashen corpses, his boots crunching against the debris.
“I bet she was pissed at her new guild.
I saw how she looked at them-like she was saying, ‘Y’all are useless.'” Shea snorted.
“She wouldn’t be wrong.” Allen continued, stretching his arms above his head.
“Well, maybe she just didn’t know that different teams lead to different results.
The game is all about teamwork, after all.” The girls paused.
Then stared at him.
Zoe squinted.
“I can’t believe I’m hearing this from a solo player.” Allen shot her a look.
“Hey, being a solo player doesn’t mean I can’t play in a team.
I just don’t like babysitting.” Alice smirked.
“Yet here you are.
Leading us.” Allen rolled his eyes.
“Leading you guys is different.
Follow new episodes on the "N0vel1st.c0m".
Y’all actually know how to play.” Bella grinned.
“Aw, is that a compliment?” Allen clicked his tongue, looking away.
“Don’t make it weird.” Vivian chuckled, crossing her arms.
“But he’s got a point.
Teamwork makes a hell of a difference.
The right synergy can turn a bunch of mid-levels into monsters.” Larissa nodded.
“Too bad Sophia didn’t realize that.
Thought she could brute-force her way through it all.” Jane stretched, cracking her neck.
“She thought she was the main character.
That’s her problem.” Zoe let out a dramatic sigh.
“And yet, she got side character treatment.” Bella sighed.
“Sophia really thought her new guild was something, huh?” Vivian smirked.
“I mean, if you ignore the fact that they all died in less than a minute, sure.” Jane laughed.
“That’s gotta sting, though.
She left Elio’s crew thinking she’d get stronger teammates, only to end up with a pile of dead weight.” Allen let out a mock gasp.
“Are we actually feeling bad for her?” Everyone immediately said, “No.” Allen snickered.
“That’s what I thought.” Alice tossed a spellbook she picked up from the battlefield into her inventory.
“Still, it’s kinda sad if you think about it.” Zoe side-eyed her.
“Alice.
You literally helped torture her.” Alice shrugged.
“Yeah, but I also like drama.” Larissa scoffed.
“We should probably move on before more idiots show up thinking they can farm us for clout.” Allen nodded.
“Yeah.
Let’s finish clearing this place.” They moved forward.
The air was thick with the lingering stench of burnt spells, blood, and decay.
The deeper they ventured into the ruined military base-turned-laboratory, the more the eerie atmosphere seemed to close in around them.
-BZZZZT!
A sudden static noise crackled through the air, making everyone pause.
It wasn’t the usual low growl of a lurking monster or the distant echoes of dungeon ambiance.
No- It sounded like… TV static.
Allen’s steps halted, his eyes narrowing as he turned toward the source of the sound.
The others followed, their expressions shifting from cautious curiosity to wary intrigue.
Vivian tilted her head.
“Is that… another clue to clear this place?” Allen glanced toward the dim glow coming from a collapsed hallway, his lips curling slightly.
“Seems like it.” They moved toward the flickering light, stepping past broken glass, rusted metal debris, and long-dead corpses.
The glow came from a half-buried screen, its edges cracked and covered in dust.
The static continued for a few moments-then, suddenly, the image stabilized.
A recording played.
The screen flickered- A dimly lit medical bay.
A doctor, coated in blood, his face pale, was hunched over a wounded soldier.
His hands shook violently as he pressed down on a severe gash, blood pooling beneath his fingers.
His breathing was ragged, almost panicked.
He looked up.
His hollow eyes stared directly at the screen.
And he spoke.
“If anyone is listening-” A harsh cough cut him off.
The soldier beneath him shuddered violently, his body convulsing as blood bubbled from his lips, soaking into the remains of his tattered uniform.
The doctor’s eyes widened in horror, his breath ragged, his hands pressing harder against the wound, but it was useless.
Too much blood.
Too late.
Still, he turned back toward the screen, his face pale, drenched in sweat, his voice frantic with desperation.
“Do not- DO NOT trust the experiments!
They-” A sudden spasm wracked his body, but he gritted his teeth, shaking his head as if he knew he had to get the words out before it was too late.
“We- we created them to fight against the Devil Emperor!” “They were meant to be OUR weapon!” The soldier beneath him gave one final gurgling breath, body twitching before going completely still.
The doctor barely spared him a glance.
His hands were shaking, his fingernails caked in blood, but his gaze never left the screen.
“We should have been the ones using this facility to destroy him!
But-” A noise.
A deep, inhuman growl echoed through the background.
The doctor flinched, his pupils blown wide in fear.
He whipped around, staring into the darkness of the ruined medbay.
His breath hitched.
Something moved.
A shadowy mass, shifting, twitching, its form grotesque and unnatural, barely visible beyond the flickering lights.
The doctor jerked back, scrambling toward the screen, his hands pressing against the glass as if he could somehow reach through and escape.
“But they-” “They took control.” “They’re NOT ours anymore!” A deafening shriek ripped through the recording- -BZZZZZT!
The screen glitched violently, the image distorting with corrupted static, lines of broken data flashing in eerie, unreadable text.
The feed cut to black.
