Chapter 1444: Past And Present
Villain Ch 1444. Past And Present
Zoe, watching from the sidelines, whistled. “Yeah, uh, Alice? You sure you don’t need a little backup?”
Alice clenched her jaw. “Shut up. I’m handling it.”
Larissa frowned, one hand resting on the hilt of her cursed blade. “This isn’t just a boss fight. This thing is fighting like Alice herself. She’s going to have a hard time countering someone who knows exactly how she moves.”
Allen grinned, resting his sword against his shoulder. “Good. Makes it fun to watch.”
Alice blocked out their voices, her mind racing.
If the grudge knew her spells, her movements—she had to change it up.
She couldn’t rely on what was expected.
She had to do something reckless.
Her gaze snapped to the swirling darkness still lingering in the air.
A thought struck her.
Something that was dangerous, but if it worked— It would turn the entire fight around.
Alice lunged forward, directly at the Witch’s Grudge.
The moment their gazes locked, the grudge lashed out, her hand shooting forward, clawed fingers coated in pure cursed energy, ready to rip Alice apart.
But Alice didn’t dodge.
Instead— She let it hit.
The dark magic sank into her chest, a sharp, searing pain exploding in her ribcage, tendrils of abyssal energy digging into her skin.
The grudge’s eyes widened.
She hadn’t expected that.
And that’s when Alice struck.
Her fingers snapped forward, gripping the specter’s wrist, holding her in place.
The grudge struggled, but Alice’s grip was iron-tight.
And then— Alice whispered. “Void Sphere.”
A violent vortex of black energy erupted right between them, swallowing them both whole, the sheer gravitational pull ripping through the air, distorting space itself.
The grudge screamed—a sharp, warped sound of a soul being dragged into oblivion.
Alice gritted her teeth, enduring the pull of her own magic, the sheer force tearing at her limbs, burning through her stamina.
The Void Sphere swirled, the grudge trapped inside, her form flickering, glitching, the endless abyss ripping at her essence.
-BOOM!
The sphere collapsed, detonating into a burst of pure anti-magic, sending Alice flying backward, slamming against the broken metal walls.
A wave of silence followed.

Smoke filled the room.
For a moment, nothing moved.
Then— The grudge’s form flickered, her violet glow dimmed, her body now barely holding itself together.
Alice coughed, forcing herself to her feet. Her vision swam. Her limbs felt like lead. But she wasn’t finished.
Not yet.
The grudge lifted her head, her once-raging aura now fading, her expression unreadable.
Alice took a slow step forward, her breath ragged. “I get it now.”
The grudge tilted her head.
Alice clenched her fists, her gaze steady.
“You’re not just rage. You’re not just pain. You’re never stopped hating. Never stopped grieving.”
The grudge remained silent, her form wavering, the darkness around her beginning to dissolve.
Alice exhaled. “Guess I need to calm you down.”
The grudge twitched, as if Alice’s words physically hurt her.
Her flickering form wavered, the violet glow in her eyes dimming for a fraction of a second, her mist-like body shuddering as if something deep inside her was breaking apart.
Alice clenched her fists, stepping forward slowly, her boots clicking against the cracked floor.
The grudge shuddered, taking a step backward, as if realizing—too late—what was about to happen.
Alice tilted her head slightly. “You’re pathetic.”
The grudge’s distorted face twisted in something like pain, something almost human, as her hands trembled, reaching for something that wasn’t there anymore.
Alice lifted her fingers— And snapped.
Darkness responded instantly.
Shadow Bind.
The tendrils of pure void magic erupted from the floor, coiling around the grudge’s limbs, snaking up her arms, her legs, her throat, locking her in place like twisted chains forged from the abyss itself.
The grudge let out a choked scream, her form flickering violently, struggling, writhing—but the bindings held firm.
Alice’s expression remained blank.
Her magic pulsed, deep and overwhelming, as she stepped closer, shadows dancing along her fingertips, wrapping around her wrists like eager serpents.
The grudge wheezed, her broken voice coming out in a distorted sob.
“You don’t… have to do this…”
Alice let out a low, evil chuckle.
“Don’t I?”
Her fingers twitched— And the bindings tightened.
The grudge convulsed, her form glitching, limbs snapping backward unnaturally, the cursed energy wrapped around her beginning to burn into her mist-like body, etching void runes directly into her fading soul.
She screamed.
Alice tilted her head, her violet eyes watching her impassively. “You’re not real. I am… his witch.”
The grudge gasped, shaking her head violently, her whispers overlapping into something incoherent, desperate, suffocating.
“I was— I am— you can’t—”
Alice lifted a hand. “Curse.”
A pulse of pure death magic burst outward, sinking into the grudge’s body, digging deep into whatever remained of her cursed existence.
The grudge jerked, her wails turning into something warped and shrill, something that crawled into the bones of the living, something that wasn’t human anymore.
Her body contorted, the last remnants of her essence fracturing, her very soul unraveling under the weight of Alice’s spell.
And then— Alice tightened her fingers into a fist.
The shadows coiled tighter, crushing her form— Until the grudge’s voice broke. Until she shattered. Like a dying ember snuffed out in the void, she vanished.
No grand explosion.
No lingering scream.
Just… nothing.
Alice exhaled slowly, lowering her hand, her pulse steady. Her magic settled, the dark energy around her dissipating, as the facility finally—finally—went completely still.
A faint notification pinged in the air.

A book materialized in the air, slowly descending, its pages old, covered in arcane symbols, pulsing with faint, cursed energy.
Alice caught it without hesitation, flipping it over in her hands, her violet gaze calm.
The others watched in silence.
Allen grinned. “Cold. Ruthless. No hesitation.”
Alice turned to him, raising an eyebrow. “Was that supposed to be a compliment?”
His smirk widened. “Absolutely.”
