Chapter 1465: I Love it Too Much for it to Feel Like a Job
Villain Ch 1465. I Love it Too Much for it to Feel Like a Job
He turned, gym bag slung over his shoulder, and made his way toward the stairs, the sound of his footsteps soft against the marble floor. He was halfway up the stairs when he heard her voice again—gentle, slightly teasing, but with that unmistakable Azura calmness. “You don’t want to drop me off first?”
Allen paused mid-step, blinking. He turned around, tilting his head slightly. “Wait, you’re leaving already?”
Azura stood by the edge of the dining room, arms crossed loosely in front of her, a small, polite smile playing on her lips. “Yeah. I’ve still got a few things to clean up back at my apartment. I just stopped by for breakfast and to check in.”
Allen frowned a little, brows knitting. “You don’t want to stay longer? I thought maybe you’d hang out with Emma like usual.”
Azura chuckled softly, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. “I would, but Emma has her private tutoring session, right? She mentioned it earlier.”
‘Oh. Right.’ Allen blinked. That made sense. His sister had gotten real serious about balancing her homeschooling with extra lessons lately. Still, he’d just assumed Azura would be around longer. For some reason, it felt weird seeing her go so soon—especially after what they’d talked about.
“I mean,” Allen started, scratching the back of his neck, “I can drop this bag in my room real quick and come with you. Walk you out, maybe even keep you company.”
But Azura shook her head gently, smiling with gratitude. “That’s sweet, but no. I’ve got Alex waiting outside. He’ll drop me off.”
Allen raised a brow. “Alex? Dad’s assistant?”
She nodded. “Yeah, he offered. Said he was heading out to run errands for your dad anyway.”
Allen hesitated. Part of him wanted to insist. He didn’t like the idea of their conversation ending here—especially not after it had turned so personal. But she looked so calm about it, like she knew her place and wasn’t trying to rush anything.
“Alright,” he said finally, nodding. “Just give me a minute, yeah? I’ll drop this off upstairs and come back to walk you out at least.”
Azura’s eyes softened, and she gave him a small nod. “Okay.”
Allen turned and headed up the stairs, his steps quicker this time. He reached his room and pushed open the door, tossing the bag onto his bed with a frustrated sigh. It bounced once, then flopped over, the zipper thankfully staying closed this time.
He stared at it for a second. Between being swarmed in-game, juggling girls who actually adored him, and now Azura of all people suddenly catching him in his most awkward moment… he let out a short laugh, rubbing his face with both hands.
“I swear,” he muttered, “Emma’s gonna get it for this.”
Still, his chest felt warm. Azura’s confession had been gentle, sure, but it wasn’t half-hearted. It wasn’t some impulsive thing. And the way she’d backed off, giving him space—that alone earned her so much respect in his book.
He took a breath, rolled his shoulders, and headed back downstairs.
Azura was already at the front door, a lightweight jacket over her arm, purse slung across her shoulder. Her posture was relaxed, but her eyes lit up when she saw him coming.
“That was quick,” she said, stepping aside so he could stand beside her.
“I’m efficient when I’m properly motivated,” Allen replied, smirking.
They stood there for a second. Not awkward—just… comfortable. Quiet.
“You know,” he added after a moment, “I’m really glad you came by today.”
Azura looked up at him, her expression soft. “Me too. It felt right. I wasn’t sure if I’d say anything, but… I’m glad I did.”
“Yeah,” he said, his voice quiet. “You caught me off guard, but… in a good way.”
Azura’s lips curved gently. “That’s the goal.”
Allen snorted. “You sound like one of my party members.”
“I wouldn’t mind joining that party,” she said, voice playful but sincere.
Allen stared at her for a moment, and something about the way she looked at him—like she saw past all of it, the armor, the sarcasm, the baggage—made his heart ache in a weirdly sweet way.

Alex’s car rolled to a stop outside, the quiet engine hum barely audible through the tall doors.
Azura glanced over her shoulder. “Looks like that’s my ride.”
“Guess so.”
She turned back to him, eyes searching his face one last time. Then, with a gentle squeeze to his arm, she murmured, “Take care, Allen. I’ll see you soon.”
He nodded. “Yeah. Let me know when you’re free again. We can catch up properly.”
She smiled, stepped back, and slipped outside, the door gently clicking shut behind her.
Allen stood there for a moment, staring at the door.
Something about her absence left the house feeling just a little quieter.
And not in a bad way—but in the kind of way that made you realize someone’s presence had mattered more than you expected.
He turned slowly, exhaling as he made his way back into the house.
It was gonna be an interesting week.
Allen went upstairs, closed the door behind him and leaned against it for a second, letting out a slow, drawn-out breath. He walked toward his bed and flopped down like a sack of bricks, the mattress groaning under him as he spread out like a starfish. His eyes fixed on the ceiling. Blank stare. No thoughts, head empty. Just vibes.
“Should I go online?” he muttered to himself.
He stared harder.
“Or write?”
He rolled his head to the side, staring at the wall. There was a framed poster of one of the early Hell’s Gate promotional artworks—a massive demon, wings outstretched, eyes glowing red as flames licked around his armor. His old avatar, back when he first started.
Allen sighed. “Being a Goldborne… should feel heavier than this, right?”
He wasn’t sure what he expected—some internal shift, some sense of duty snapping into place. But instead, it just felt like… him. Same old Allen. Only now, he had a fancy last name and a family company tied to one of the biggest VRMMORPGs in the world.
And being the Devil Emperor?
He smiled faintly. “I love it too much for it to feel like a job.”
