Chapter 1487: Rebuilding War
Villain Ch 1487. Rebuilding War
The Devil Emperor threw his head back and laughed. Not the laugh of a madman—but of something ancient. Something victorious. Something that had just evolved mid-battle.
“Oh no…” someone near the crowd whispered in horror. “He just powered up.”
“He consumed the orb,” another player said shakily. “Did you see his level spike? That wasn’t a buff. That was permanent.”
Arcana’s jaw tightened. “He just got stronger.”
The Emperor’s laughter died down into a dark chuckle, and he turned his head slightly, letting them feel the difference. His presence no longer merely loomed—it devoured the air around it.
His aura pulsed outward like a detonation, and every player in the plaza felt it—bones rattling, stomachs tightening, a primal instinct screaming run. And then, slowly, he lifted his hand again, dark energy spiraling from his fingers.
“I’ll let you test my new power,” he said smoothly, voice laced with dark amusement. “Consider it a demonstration.”
Then came the spell.
“Hellfire Rain.”
The sky above twisted violently, the clouds darkening with supernatural speed. Flames didn’t just fall—they tore through the heavens. The fire came down like it had weight, like the world itself was angry, and the Devil Emperor had given it permission to burn.
It wasn’t like before.
The flame was hotter, thicker, and brighter, crashing down in relentless torrents. Even though the system protected the under-construction city core—it shimmered with a game-coded invulnerability—the players weren’t as lucky.
“MOVE!” Arcana shouted, already casting a barrier around the front line.
Elio, already mid-motion, slammed his blade into the ground. Aegis Ward burst out from him in a golden dome, shielding everyone inside. But the flames pounded against it like meteor strikes. Cracks formed in seconds.
Father^Alex gripped his new staff, his face pale beneath his hood. He raised it high, eyes glowing faintly.

The staff pulsed once, and a dome of radiant light enveloped the entire team. Golden petals of energy bloomed from the ground, closing wounds and restoring HP in bursts.
“Keep it up, Alex!” Elio barked, his arms shaking as he reinforced the shield.
“I’m trying!” Alex said through gritted teeth. His staff glowed hot in his hands, but the spell was holding. Just barely.
The fire kept coming.
Red-King and Mastercraft were huddled behind the bulkier tanks, trying to support with potions and buffs.
Azura slashed her blades through waves of flame that singed her armor.
Gil shouted warnings, trying to coordinate movement through the chaos.
But despite all that—despite legendary gear, coordination, and Father^Alex’s god-tier healing—the spell was too much.
Players started dropping.
One by one, the lower-leveled ones screamed as they were engulfed. Their HP bars emptied before they could react. A rogue dashed toward cover—too slow. A cleric started a heal cast—interrupted by an explosion.
They died.

One after another. Bodies hit the ground, scattered across the plaza, scorched and broken.
Even the frontliners were down to half HP now. Arcana’s shield shattered, forcing Elio to re-cast Holy Bastion, but even that was cracking under the relentless assault. Alex’s light dimmed, the spell faltering, his energy nearly drained.
“Can’t…” he gasped. “Keep… up…”
“Fall back!” Arcana roared.
But there was nowhere to go. The entire plaza was ablaze, the flames creating walls of fire. It wasn’t a battlefield anymore—it was an execution.
And through it all, the Devil Emperor stood untouched, surrounded by his hovering girls. He didn’t raise a second spell. He didn’t need to.
He just watched.
Smiling.
When the fire finally stopped, only a few players were left standing.
Elio was on one knee, breathing heavily, armor scorched and cracked. Arcana was dragging a wounded Azura behind a stone pillar.
Gil had one arm limp at his side, burnt to hell.
Alex sat on the ground, gasping, staff buried in the dirt.
It was nearly a wipe.
The plaza was coated in black soot and glowing embers. Burn marks scarred the cobblestone. The only untouched space was the shimmering, protected city core in the center—untouchable by the game’s own rules.
The Devil Emperor looked satisfied.
He gazed out over the scorched remains of what had once been a triumphant crowd. Players lay broken and groaning, their formations shattered, their pride singed alongside their gear. His eyes, glowing faintly with residual power from the consumed orb, locked onto Arcana, Elio, and Alex—still breathing, but barely.
“You fought well,” the Devil Emperor said, his voice deep and calm. “Better than most.”
He let the silence stretch.
“But don’t mistake survival for strength. What you call victory… is just an interval.”
He turned slightly, casting his gaze over the weakened frontliners still trying to regroup.
“You’re rebuilding a city… while I’m rebuilding war.”
Then he smiled—a slow, wicked thing.
“I wonder which of us will finish first.”
He stepped back into the shadows cast by his girls, still floating like celestial horrors above the square like nothing had happened.
Larissa’s voice drifted down, smooth as silk and twice as cold. “Enjoy your sunlight while it lasts.”
Jane giggled sweetly, fingers laced in front of her like a schoolgirl. “We’ll be watching.”
Bella twirled a small orb of lightning between her fingers, smiling like a predator. “Maybe even cheering.”
A portal bloomed open behind them, elegant and dark—like velvet torn from the night sky. The edges rippled like it was stitched from shadow and silk.
“Until next time, little heroes,” the Devil Emperor purred. “Don’t die before I get bored.”
And then, one by one, they stepped through.
Shadows swallowed them whole.
Gone.
The plaza was dead quiet.
Only the faint hum of the city core rebuilding filled the silence, as if nothing had happened—except everyone knew something had. Something real.
Gil was the first to exhale, sharp and loud. “…What the hell was that?”
Arcana stared at the spot where the portal had closed, his fists slowly curling. “A message.”
Azura’s voice was tight. “And a warning.”
Elio’s hand clenched over his sword hilt, knuckles white. “He’s not done.”
“No,” Arcana agreed grimly. “But neither are we.”
They turned slowly toward the rising core. The light continued to pulse, steady but fragile. The city was theirs—for now.
But the Devil Emperor had made one thing terrifyingly clear.
He had evolved.
And he was watching.
